    This helps a lot, the instructions showed the cords coming out the back of the heat pads, but also on the ends near each other. That is not how the ones I got were manufactured- but they do look like the ones in this video with the cords at extreme ends. Now I can proceed with installation knowing it's okay. I think these heat pads are very low power, only warming enough to prevent condensation.

      Its so that you dont confuse its thermostats, its similar effect to putting your fridge in a cold room/garage, it would rarely turn on and the interior would be warmer than it should if you did! The units need to have a specific ambient temperatures to function PROPERLY.

    I was trying to figure out what this was myself as I was waiting for my refrigerator and freezer combo. There is literally no description on what the purpose of this pairing kit other than the fact that it's a heating unit.
    After setting up the refrigerator and freezer side by side, I realized that the purpose of this is to keep each unit from influencing the thermostat of the other unit because they are so close to each other. You can feel that the bottom left is super cold and the top right is cold. These are the exact locations in which the heaters are installed on each unit. It's probably not 100% necessary but I suppose it cannot hurt because in a normal single installation there is nothing influence the side of the unit other than the air around it. It also cost me $1 because I bought it as a combo kit from AJ Madison

      Ok, so I had the same exact questions and it took a lot of research to find such a simple answer. It's to prevent the units from sweating (condensation) when they are next to each other. Why a heating pad? Seems counter-intuitive, right? That's what I thought at first. As the units cool at their cores, these basic heating pads warm up only the outer shell of the unit to kill the temperature differential with the air that would cause sweating between them.

      It is SO DUMB. So you are paying to HEAT the units so their thermostats work?! No way.

      @@Fluterra When you have them right beside eachother its necessary as most units are manufacturered under the impression that they will be used as 1 stand alone unit, in which case the heaters are not necessary...

    There is no mention here or in the "product specs" about the power consumption. I, like many others, have a builtin cabinet for these units and there is only a SINGLE plug for each (as building code would recommend). Where do they think I can plug this thing in?! I could make a dual outlet, but without knowing the power consumption, that's not a safe bet. Frustrating!

    • @Fluterra
      @Fluterra Год назад

      Power consumption is in the instructions or the web site. You need TWO 15A fused outlets. Very straightforward.

    • @Spirited_Driver
      @Spirited_Driver 3 месяца назад

      The owners manual states that 2 separate outlets are mandatory for 2 units to begin with. Building code can certainly comply!!!

    Does this come with the trim kit? Where did the heaters come from. This doesn't match the title of the video. This was the most confusing thing ever. Does Frigidaire recommend this?

      @@maluo3102 I've been a BUILT-IN appliance installer for 30 years. I am NOT a service tech. These heater kits are REQUIRED for the Sub-Zero and Thermador units I have installed. I did a Thermador set up about 6 years ago . The refer or freezer kept frosting up after being installed for only 2 weeks. I don't remember which one. The original set up did not have the heater-kit installed. I did not do the original install. Thermador actually REPLACED the what they thought was the defective unit! The new unit was installed. It happened again . More frosting. Come to find out when i was hired to do the installation of the new unit I saw that there was no heating kit . I don't know what it does but I noticed it wasn't there. I picked one up at the appliance store, installed it , no problems afterword. I did read that that it is required in humid areas and when the units are less than 6 inches apart. I have done only 2 of these Frigidaire units. 1 older model ( very difficult to install), and the newer one in 2019. They never mentioned a heating kit in the instructions. I only stumbled upon this info because i have to replace the fridge for my customer. I wanted to refresh my mind on how it was installed.

      @@timpetit1026 Are you talking about frosting in the fridge or freezer or frosting the glass/door? I have had it install for a week without heater.
      I ended up installing without the heater, no issues, if there is freezer or fridge frosting up i suppose I will plan to install the heating kit back. I did call the Frigidaire about this heating /paring kit and they told me it was back order anyways so it is not like i can get it right away. They also can't tell me what it was for other than the fact it was recommended.

      @@timpetit1026 This video says that each unit must be on a dedicated 15A circuit. This is the only place I've seen this requirement. Frigidaire's customer service told me that both columns can use one 15A circuit and I was told that each unit only draws 5A. Obviously, two dedicated circuits would be ideal but it's not always available. As in my case, I have two outlet boxes but they are both on one 20A circuit.
      What's your knowledge / experience on this?
