I'm glad the market drove them to finally offer some budget items. But truth is, the reason I left wacom wasn't just the price, price was just a great bonus. For me, it was that wacom drivers had just stopped working on me, from time to time, for a DECADE. Different builds, different versions of windows. It drove me absolutely insane. I switched to one of the cheaper ones, and sure, the software had some quirks, but it really WORKED. It didn't leave me spending hours reinstalling, uninstalling, searching forums, getting the same answers, and having none of them work.
Same. Driver stopped functioning so I gave mine away. I'm still waiting to buy a new tablet but all of wacom products' features with its corresponding price tag is a huge turn off.
@@sergeykishdoes the Cintiq or Wacom one works on Linux? 'Cause I've been using tablets only (Huion and Wacom) and it works but idk about the monitors.
The 2019 version of this is easy to find pre-owned on ebay, and I expect the same will happen with this one. It's easy to see why. Someone learning digital art buys one new, and then one of two things happens: either they struggle with drawing for a while and then rage-quit, or they do well and decide they need something less cramped. Either way, they put the One up for sale "lightly used", and you get a bargain.
I have actually seen more of the slightly or even unused Cintiq 16 for sale. Often people even buy the separate stand for it so it's a great deal for an almost new pen display.
I don’t see why someone on a budget or young would get this over a tab s6 lite. For drawing it performs great, and if you on a budget I bet a decent pic that runs the art apps isn’t on the cards. It’s an inch smaller screen, but you have pinch and zoom, which makes it a lot better. If you do want to hook it up to a pc you can with a $10 app. It uses the same pen tech. And it costs the same.
Literally just bought one for myself yesterday, but it wasn't easy! They are basically completely sold out everywhere in Canada! (for the 2022 version anyway) it was only by fluke my parents found a forgotten one tucked into the back of a shelf at a Staples that wasn't even in their systems stock count! Now I got to wait a month for them to come visit me cause they live in a different province 😂
The problem is that when you start doing some research you quickly get the impression you need Photoshop right from the beginning. Many beginner's buy into the idea you need expensive software to be good at digital art. While it is way more valuable to invest in knowledge and use less expensive software. I started with a Galaxy Tab S4 years ago and still haven't switched to Photoshop. So many excellent alternatives available to start with and keep on going with, even on Android. If someone already has a decent laptop, I would invest in a Huion pen display and start with something free like Krita or get Affinity Designer or Photo, Paint Shop Pro or Escape Motions Rebelle 6. That last one is still my favourite after many years.

I can understand having options of not including pen or cables to the more professional oriented Cintiq Pro 27 (even if I don't agree with it, for that matter) since professionals have likely owned multiple tablets prior to switching it to a 27 inch but its absurd doing it to an entry-level model, wow.

So I used to primarily design usign non display tablets (Started with an Intuos Pro back in 2014) and then for the past few years have been drawing on iPads. I have some XP Pen tablets but after like a year the pens stopped working properly and I did confirm it was a widespread pen issue and software really does prefer Wacom so I looked around and found the Wacom one 13" for $180 refurbed (Fantastic price!). I used it for about an hour and the inital activation force problem is starting to really be a dealbreaker for me. I thought it wouldn't be a big deal but it really is. Also no buttons on the tablet at $300 is rough. Luckily I have a Huion KD-100 which helps tremendously but without it I'd be struggling super hard to make this tablet work. Yeah they dont have unique features like apple. All the other brands can now do what wacom does but waaay cheaper. Only real difference is QA. And my 2017 huion display tablet still works fine. I have had the 2019 wacom one and there are some things I'd like to say from the experience. In my country, the wacom one, huions and xp-pens of similar specs do not have a significant price different. It might be 50-60 dollars at max. Yes there is no laminated display on the 2019 version and that is probably the only thing I miss. It has a great pen, feet to prop it up to a comfortable angle, is built quite solid compared to the huion's and xppen (Yes I have used the other pen displays as well) and has lasted me quite a while without any problems. It also has a bigger 13.3. inch screen. I have never had driver issues or malfunctions. I have even travelled with it quite a bit. It is a shame that wacom removed some of the features like the feet and put a smaller display. I'd say, if you do not mind the laminated display you could probably get a good deal on the 2019 version. Also, even the 2023 version is not a bad tablet by any means (I really love the one cable connection. Lovely while travelling). If you are someone who is a working artist and needs a reliable pen display which would last you for years to come, I'd close my eyes and pick a wacom.
The previous Wacom One goes for $300 with everything you need to start drawing. It also has 13 inches screen. This one is charging $450 to get the whole package and it is even smaller than before. The resolution also is not changing either. Is this still a beginner drawing tablet? The price is closer to 15 inches Cintque.
Hey @Brad Colbow! love your content. There's so many out there, but most seem to need a subscription service and don't seem too functionally fluid. Would really appreciate it!
That plastic anti-reflective screen protector is going to turn really messy in max 2 years time and then you have to peel it off, which is not trivial and also voids your warranty. I wish wacom would use weaker glue and admit that these need to be replaced periodically.

its a versatile device. If you hit windows+P you can turn off screen and use it in intuos style M+ size. Its light, small, easy to carry, can be hooked to phone. This definitly has potential.
...so just like my Artist 16 gen 2 that costed me ~300$, about roughly the same with this tablet on the video, has a bigger screen. Cool. Need it smaller? They have 2 smaller options and cheaper. There's no "potential" on their budget options.
Hey, Brad. Could you review the upcoming Huwawei matepad 11.5? Especially how's the huwawei m-pencil gen 2 perform for illustration. I'd like to know if the tablet is worth to buy for the creative industry need from your professional point of view
Wacom is really falling as now, while XP-Pen, Huion and Xencelab are making pen displays of almost the same quality for more affordable prices. They still make arguably the best stylus though. PS. I'm pretty sure I'd save more just buying a Galaxy Tab S... Same pen, you can bring it with you away from the computer you need, and you can do many other things on it. Krita is on Android now and it's the same as PC version, so I'm set. Also, using my fingers directly on the screen for commands is easier for me than using shortcut buttons on the side.
I need some tips! I'm currently using a tiny wacom no-screen drawing pad and I want to upgrade to something with a screen. The thing is, I have a low end laptop; core i3, 4 RAM. It works fine with my current drawing tablet, runs my drawing programmes just fine. I thought this would be the best option for me? Is there any other drawing tablet options with a screen that would run fine with my laptop? I don't want to buy a screen tablet, only for it to lag or not work :(
I have 13qt pro touch from 2014. The few things I see that change is presser on the pen and the cables. As well as the screen. Tho the price isn’t bad for $350-$400
The only thing Wacom has on Huion that I use and that I miss is the click and tap for right click. Do they have a patent on that or something? It's so much better, hovering and right clicking sucks.
Got a cintiq 24HD a few years back.. it lasted 2 years and 2 months before the screen gave up. Never again. I don't like tablet display anyway, I find them anti-ergonomic and I value my health more than shiny tech.
At the moment I’m using photoshop with my iPad Pro as a separate display and considering buying the wacom one 12inch for the drawing benefits Wacom offers but I wonder if there will be a big difference?? Anyone know ?
I have a Wacom one that I purchased back during Covid and my cats chewed on my 3 in 1 cable. Can I get away with purchusing just the $14 usb-c cable if my laptop has a usb-c port? It's a fairly new gaming laptop.
There is a type of content that I think is very good and important but that I see few talking about: the fact that the wacom one pen works on android devices. I would like to see a video of you talking about it, because I think it would be useful for a lot of people. I really like your channel Bye :)
It's maybe late to ask but I have a question - (So, it will help if anyone can answer or give advice) I want to buy a tablet for animation videos (2d) but I'm confused in iPad or Samsung tab ? (I'm not familiar with animation apps on iPadOS and Android, Can anyone help)
Can we use that wacom pen for the SAMSUNG Tablets? If yes, how good will they be? Will there be a difference? Will there be an option to use those two buttons?
if you're open to buying used tech, you can find a fully working windows laptop that officially supports windows 11 for about $200 on average (sometimes lower, sometimes higher up to $250) and a kamvas 13 in used condition for under $200. So you'll have spent $400 on the entire drawing setup roughly (stand isn't included) for the same price as a wacom one 11.6in tablet
If I recall this is no longer wacoms pen technology alone. They lost their hold on the tech and it became public hence many other cheap tablets and some E ink tablets CAN USE the same EMR pens. It's no longer a Wacom tech or driver being used. Even the digitizer in the screen is no longer made by Wacom but by many other Chinese companies that make them for supper cheap. These budget Wacom devices are now just overpriced items with Wacom slapped on.
The audacity of removing the retractable stand on a 2023 model is such a letdown and left with a mediocre stand. If only there are Wacom alternatives whose taking their quality control, customer service and their own EMR patents seriously.
Hi sorry for having such newbie questions. Does this use photoshop or its own editing software. Do you need to pay separately for the software. And lastly can I use RUclips on it and use it a s a regular tablet?
Hii I don't know if you are still waiting for a answer but: It's not a table, it's a monitor :], which means it only projects what's on your computer screen, everything you have on your computer will be proyect on the monitor (you can download some free drawing programs, and yes, you can open your bowser and watch RUclips, tho it only works connected to a computer
Hello there dear Brad & community I'm fairly new to this digital artist thingy and I do think about getting myself a drawing tablet from Wacom. Now, I'm kinda confused as I simply don't understand the following point. For instance the Wacom One. Does it need to be hooked up to a computer or laptop to bring it even to function or can it simply be turned on while sitting on your couche and start drawing?
Man! Can you please, please compare Tab S9 11" vs iPad Air 5 or Pro 11" and maybe throw it in a Xiaomi Pad 6 too🤩 Yeah! I know I'm being greedy for that review 😅
I am really glad i didn't get the previous version of wacom one. Not only is the screen smaller than my huion kamvas 16 2021, its not laminated comes without a stand and has less pen pressure but the colors are worse too and the price was 30€ more expensive. These upgrades simply dont seem to be worth it to me when huion offers much better products for a lower price and extra things.
I used to complain after downgrading from the Cintiq 13HD to Wacom One (1st generation), but after seeing this new version I'll never complain about the included pen and stand again. Now I truly appreciate my 1st generation Wacom One. I can't believe this new model is more expensive for less... That's a new low from Wacom.
At these prices im seeing for alot of entry level devices im really glad i just bought the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 lite (2022). Even though it was damn hard to find one here in Canada! I'm currently trying to figure out what kind of case i want to gwt for it though, would you say there are any benefits/draw backs to a keyboard case like the Fintie case I keep seeing all over Amazon? From a digital art stand point? It's magnetic so the keyboard can be set aside while drawing.
You still seem confused about initial activation force. You want less of it, not more. Also Wacom Pro pens and One pens uses the same load sensor tips with 3 grams of IAF. So any difference between them is operating frequency and how driver handles the fed data (for instance, pressure levels; 4k vs 8k, are software distinctions). Wacom likes to make plenty of distictions between Pro and One in software. Remember that Wacom didn't even offer tilt function in their One/UD/Oenabled pens until recently, even though the pens never changed hardware wise. As for value proposition, something like One 13 Touch is probably the better product with multitouch layer added for $500. And I do believe Wacom One still has superior x/y grid granularity compared to Huron and other at those low price points. That makes it worth not getting all the free chotchkies and 150ish discount IMO.
but other brands have been doing it for long time now and they have side buttons why they so late to the game the huion kamvas is 13.3 inches and costs the same
Unless you are really strapped for money, I don't recommend a 12" display tablet... Many people that I know complain that 12" is simply too small and then quickly upgrade their display tablet.
Huion for sure. You get more value for your money if you are willing to give 300€ I'd go for the one I got kamvas 16 2021. The bigger surface turns out makes a difference
Instead of upgrading and improving their Wacom Cintiq HD series, they made a new product!! iPad gen 10 would be better option instead of this 12 creative
Honestly, at this point you'd be getting a better deal by getting an earlier generation of Galaxy Tab like the S7 or S8. Unless you want/need to connect it to a PC, then Huion or XP Pen is better value. I feel Wacom has been slowly but surely getting out of touch with the market/industry over the last few years.
Id say a 12 inch tablet would be perfect for taking around anywhere. But id also say you could just get the samsung galaxy tab without havin to bworry about connecting to a device. Differences but each have their own benefits
So if you buy online and didn't hit all the "extras" which are actually necessary, you get gipped? I mean, I guess it's nice for the 20 people that already have everything. 😜 You have sold me on the Kamvas as my first dip into pen displays.
@@AbrahamSayago Maybe that's becoming true, but it wasn't always. But as for me, I'm pretty much stuck with Wacom products as the best in class pen experience. I know, I'm super picky. I haven't tried a pen that has both the initial force activation and accuracy that I like, except wacom. Most wacom EMR pens moved to a one-button only style (i.e., the old wacom one pen, samsung pens, etc.). I'm truly glad that a new two button wacom EMR came out.
@@TropicalCyc Only Wacom? The apple pencil has one psuedo button (the double tap thing"), and the latest MS pen has one side button. There are many competitors out there! As far as huion or xp pen, I am not sure if they are able to match the IAF of wacom. I've never had a device in a local store to try out. Their mobile devices (laptops/slates) have not been interesting enough to buy into, yet. This leaves apple, microsoft, wacom, and samsung.
My qualm with other pen displays different from wacom is that every time I ask a non RUclips artist for a recommendation is that they ALWAYS say to save up and get Wacom because their other brand pen displays broke after a year or so of using it. I love that Wacom has competition but nobody ever tests for durability, you all use it for a few days and either have to return it or store it away cause you have another higher end pen display that you love. And that’s ok, that’s your job. But yeah, how do we know those say $1000 we invest on huion/xppen will last us 4-5 years that Wacom has proven to last? And I dont expect their $200 pen displays to last me years.
I'm genuinely glad the people you know have had good experiences with the company, but in my experience, it's been the exact opposite. I've had seven different types of Wacom tablets, and only four have lasted over two years, and they were all treated very carefully. Of those four only two are still working now, one stopped working around the five year mark, and the other was essential bricked after Wacom stopped supporting it. Wacom is notorious with long time users for their poor cable connection ports that they never bothered to fix for around a decade of releases, and their customer support is horrible. Compared to that, the $60 XP Pen tablet I bought to replace my Intuos Pro M is still going strong after six years of use, and the two screen tablets I have from them are also still working fine after three and two years respectively.
I've had my Huion Kamvas Pro 13 since 2019 and it's still working fine. I've even taken it on cross-country trips and stuff (wrapped it in a small blanket and set up with a laptop in hotel rooms) and it's still going. I don't use it as much these days because I bought the 24 inch Huion at the end of last year, but a few months ago I took a trip and the 13 was crucial to my work while traveling. I guess my experience might be atypical but that's my anecdotal take.
@@animatrix1490 no at all! Its great to hear that they handle being carried around in a bag! When it comes to smaller displays i think it is crucial to make them sturdy cause people will want to take it with them! Thank you! You are both restoring my fate haha ❤️
Okay. So it having two ways to buy, the online configuration tool or the boxed route, is enough to make me not want to kick Wacom in the teeth for being a bad faith company; however, still feel like Brad was right to say--in not so many words--that this seems to be a big step backwards for them overall. Better display over all--sure, but everything else has me doubting if I'd ever buy another Wacom product ever again when their competitors are doing it just as well and for a lot less money.

its a versatile device. If you hit windows+P you can turn off screen and use it in intuos style M+ size. Its light, small, easy to carry, can be hooked to phone. This definitly has potential.
😂
...so just like my Artist 16 gen 2 that costed me ~300$, about roughly the same with this tablet on the video, has a bigger screen. Cool. Need it smaller? They have 2 smaller options and cheaper. There's no "potential" on their budget options.
but yours doesnt have WACOM printed on the back! checkmate :P
Hey, Brad. Could you review the upcoming Huwawei matepad 11.5? Especially how's the huwawei m-pencil gen 2 perform for illustration. I'd like to know if the tablet is worth to buy for the creative industry need from your professional point of view
Is it possible to just get the cable for the 1st gen wacom one? I would appreciate it if I can just have a single cable instead of 3-4 around my desk
I don't want to buy a screen tablet, only for it to lag or not work :(
That gets me wondering. Will you ever compare drawing tablets to some samsung galaxy tablets?
I have 13qt pro touch from 2014. The few things I see that change is presser on the pen and the cables. As well as the screen. Tho the price isn’t bad for $350-$400
Can I animate on an iPad mini I’m on a budget I want to get a stylus pen for my son and an iPad for my daughter
The only thing Wacom has on Huion that I use and that I miss is the click and tap for right click.
Do they have a patent on that or something? It's so much better, hovering and right clicking sucks.
No patent for that. That's Huion driver issue (or rather lack of implementation).
Can we connect it to the projector with HDMI Port
can you do A review on the realme pad x and the honor pad 8
Wait are these new pens compatible with Samsung S6 lite pls tell i need a new pen
I thought this didn't have tourch, how are you moving your art on the screen?
You can get a nice 16-inch Huion or XP Pen display tablet for the same price as this (or even cheaper)
With the essentials already in plus stands💀
I use a cintiq but I move all my tools on to a second screen.
I have a Wacom one that I purchased back during Covid and my cats chewed on my 3 in 1 cable. Can I get away with purchusing just the $14 usb-c cable if my laptop has a usb-c port? It's a fairly new gaming laptop.
Hello. The pen works with a Galaxy tab 8? Thanks
can you use this wacom one pen on touch screen laptop?
There is a type of content that I think is very good and important but that I see few talking about: the fact that the wacom one pen works on android devices. I would like to see a video of you talking about it, because I think it would be useful for a lot of people.
I really like your channel
Bye :)
Would you say that the intuos pros are still better than this new Wacom one?
Please review mi pad 6 max which recently launched in China....
Did brad delete the original video about Wacom removing the pen, cord and power supply and having them, as separate addons?
Their website states that they come in the same box as the tablet
Hello! I'm trying to decide between an Wacom one and a Samsung tab s9 fE
Which one would be best?
Does anyone know what brushes he’s using?
It's maybe late to ask but I have a question - (So, it will help if anyone can answer or give advice)
I want to buy a tablet for animation videos (2d) but I'm confused in iPad or Samsung tab ? (I'm not familiar with animation apps on iPadOS and Android, Can anyone help)
Can we use that wacom pen for the SAMSUNG Tablets? If yes, how good will they be? Will there be a difference? Will there be an option to use those two buttons?
Yes and no.
Samsung's drivers are separate, and drivers on Android are notoriously locked down.
For the price of $300., for the Wacom One 12 inch I would rather buy a base iPad for drawing.
Does this work with Krita?
My man, rocking Piano for Painkillers by Matt Large - good taste my friend :)
Dang, good ear!
if you're open to buying used tech, you can find a fully working windows laptop that officially supports windows 11 for about $200 on average (sometimes lower, sometimes higher up to $250) and a kamvas 13 in used condition for under $200. So you'll have spent $400 on the entire drawing setup roughly (stand isn't included) for the same price as a wacom one 11.6in tablet
Did I hallucinate that you had a review up for the Wacom One already that said it's terrible or something?
It was a first impressions based on the weird buying experience
Yeah, I didn't have the product yet I was just confused with the buying process.
Isnt that video removed? I swear I watched it but I cant find that video anymore, I mean the one you said doesnt come with the pen…
@@astroboyvn88 it's unlisted now
If I recall this is no longer wacoms pen technology alone. These budget Wacom devices are now just overpriced items with Wacom slapped on.
is it possible for this tablet to work on windows xp?
The audacity of removing the retractable stand on a 2023 model is such a letdown and left with a mediocre stand.
If only there are Wacom alternatives whose taking their quality control, customer service and their own EMR patents seriously.
So has to be used with computer ?
Hi sorry for having such newbie questions. Does this use photoshop or its own editing software. Do you need to pay separately for the software. And lastly can I use RUclips on it and use it a s a regular tablet?
Hii I don't know if you are still waiting for a answer but:
It's not a table, it's a monitor :], which means it only projects what's on your computer screen, everything you have on your computer will be proyect on the monitor (you can download some free drawing programs, and yes, you can open your bowser and watch RUclips, tho it only works connected to a computer
Hello there dear Brad & community
I'm fairly new to this digital artist thingy and I do think about getting myself a drawing tablet from Wacom.
Now, I'm kinda confused as I simply don't understand the following point.
For instance the Wacom One. Does it need to be hooked up to a computer or laptop to bring it even to function or can it simply be turned on while sitting on your couche and start drawing?
Hi Brad!
Man! Can you please, please compare Tab S9 11" vs iPad Air 5 or Pro 11" and maybe throw it in a Xiaomi Pad 6 too🤩
Yeah! I know I'm being greedy for that review 😅
How Can I Zoom in?
its possible to find the old wacom one on sale for 200 which is a lot better value for beginners
Un my country its worth more to take a s7 FE and a separated wacom one pen, and I'm more and more convinced to take that step and sell my s6 lite
A magnetic case sometimes interferes with how the pen reacts when drawing if you fold the flap behind the device. I speak from experience on this. 😅
@@verda7019 oh really?! Good to know! Thanks for the tip!
@@citymomcountrylife No prob! I have a keyboard case that I was super excited about and found that out when I used it. It now collects dust. 😭
That makes it worth not getting all the free chotchkies and 150ish discount IMO.
but other brands have been doing it for long time now and they have side buttons why they so late to the game the huion kamvas is 13.3 inches and costs the same
Don't forget it comes with a stand glove pen and better colors/ pen sensitivity(also you can find it for a much lesser price during sales)🙄
@@elektrapapakosma8144 which huion has been doing and xp pen for many years 😅
@elektrapapakosma8144 aldo huiom kamav 13 120% srgb, wacom one 13 93% and wacom one 12 99%srgb so the 200 pound huion kamvas better colours
Too small. I use glasses and need as minimum a 14-16” screen to draw on.
The aspect ratio just feels wrong for drawing...
Unless you are really strapped for money, I don't recommend a 12" display tablet... Many people that I know complain that 12" is simply too small and then quickly upgrade their display tablet.
Great review, as always! This looks like it would actually be a lot of fun to draw on. I’m still rockin’ my Cintiq 24HD 😀😀
Long life to our 24hds… Just crossing fingers of not getting a black screen error every morning. 11 years of war with it.
I am curious between this or Huion Kamvas 13, which one you more recommended for beginner artist?
Huion.
Huion for sure. You get more value for your money if you are willing to give 300€ I'd go for the one I got kamvas 16 2021. The bigger surface turns out makes a difference
Huion.
In my country, the older wacom one are around $100 to $150 cheaper 😅
Id say a 12 inch tablet would be perfect for taking around anywhere. But id also say you could just get the samsung galaxy tab without havin to bworry about connecting to a device. Differences but each have their own benefits
So if you buy online and didn't hit all the "extras" which are actually necessary, you get gipped? I mean, I guess it's nice for the 20 people that already have everything. 😜
You have sold me on the Kamvas as my first dip into pen displays.
The fact that the wacom one pen has two side buttons... that's an insant purchase for me. The pen, not the tablet. :)
That's pretty much the same with most tablets though, even non-Wacom ones.
I'm truly glad that a new two button wacom EMR came out.
all non wacom devices have more than 1 button, huion, xp pen, ect. It was only wacom that moved to 1 button pens.
Wow
@@namazuume this is the first time i hear a happy xppen user! Thats good to hear thank you!
@@namazuume That's wild to me 😭I've been using my cintiq for 10 years now and it's as good as new. And I don't go easy on that guy
Wacom lost me at shrinking the screen. I’m off to the XP-PEN, which I think you mentioned has a 14 inch version at a comparable price?
At this point once Huion makes a 27” there will be no reason to use Wacom. This is coming from someone who uses a Cintiq Pro 32 daily.
This version has no reason to exist.
this is a downgrade tbh
U look like the gerald buttler of wacom arti😅sts
This is why I think Huion is better for the money. Quality products at half the price of Wacom
Laptop + Wacom = Ipad 12.9 , don't waste your money guys
XP PEN and Veikk better and very much cheaper and heas a BETTER RETURN policy
This piece of art you work on is pretty weird!??
What does that heart in the medial doing??
Sooo sus 🤔
From a marketing perspective this product is awfull. It is just not competitive and makes other offerings look good. Wacom has fallen behind.
I'll stick to xp pen. It's a knock off but it works and its cheaper.
Damn 3 minutes and im in this video V-V
8th place my dydes
400$ joke
Why buy this if u can buy a xpen?
Oo am pretty early
