Aussie guy here. Nice video, thanks for posting. I have two E39's. 2002 M5 (110000km's) and 2000 528i Msport (238000km's daily driver). Both are Titanium Silver, the M5 has extended black leather package, 528i has black leather. They both have Eibach springs, Koni adj shocks and Avin Avant/Focal audio systems. M5 has a Dinan intake and full Dinan exhaust. 528i is completely standard except for a full Eisenmann exhaust and the suspension upgrades. I love them both, they're like a couple of old friends that I really enjoy spending my time with.

      What’s your current mileage?

@@PointShiftDrive I bought mine with 19k miles in 2006. It’s a 2001 with the full dinan s2 package. I blew the engine at 153k mikes. It’s at the enthusiast auto group in Cincinnati being rejuvenated as they call it as I’m going to daily drive this beast for another twenty years. I have a z8 as well 😀. Love the s62 engine and the analog feel. I have a Ferrari too and in some ways I like the e39 more.

Could you please explain the gear down differential a bit more? Recently invested in one which is relatively clean and would like some tips. Thanks man. Great clip!

Sure. basically replacing the stock gear ratio in the rear diff with more aggressive ratios allows for more of the engine power to be felt lower in the RPM range. it allows the engine to spin up to the power band sooner and thus into the power. however at higher speeds the engine is working harder (higher rpm). so you lose a little power at higher speeds but the trade off is well worth it. IF you want to learn more, feel free to call Edge Motorworks in Fremont California.

It's my dream car. I'll never be able to afford one though. I'll just have to stick to the 2 E39's I have now.

The E39 M5 is legendary... its only going to get more and more expensive over time. They dont make cars that feel like that any more. But in the end, be happy with what you have. Sounds like your garage is stout!
      Congrats

I'm very sad right now, last year I found a silver E39 M5 for sale low miles and in my price range in excellent shape!! If you take care of these cars they will go over 300K no problem!! I should of gotten it instead of dumping 10K into my Jeep : ( Oh well!

Good deals on E39M5s are hard to find these days. But I do agree with you on longevity of these cars. Edge told me that they have seen many of these motors with very high miles that had no issues. Pretty impressive.
