  • nParticles can do strange things when they collide with each other or with "hard" surfaces. In this tutorial I do nothing but create an event after an event after an event. One particle dies, three new particles are born.
When doing such a tutorial we obviously touch on topics such as colour, gravity and shape. The final simulation deals with over 10,000 particles.
Since we usually work in rather abstracts UIs, a nice final render process is always very rewarding...
I did render the sequence of 600 frames and got a very vivid, very very fast, acutally way too fast animation:

See the details in the description of that brief video.
You find one of the renderings with a few details in my blog: www.maxschoenhe...

love this video, learned so much and feels good. When I say learned so much I feel the info is solid and isnt clouded in doubt. I actually could have used this technique on a project i'm rendering right now. I have saved for later. If you offer one on one training for advance users please let me know I would be interested in your time. I am considering jumping to houdini after this project but would still like a deeper understanding of Maya since it is my main platform. I just feel stuck when I try to dive deeper. thanks!

glad you like it, i don‘t exactly remember it ;-)
i don‘t have the time for a one on one training, but i‘m thinking about inviting my subscribers to a tutorial session at fmx next year.

Is it possible for particles to not just be able to collide with bodies, but also be able to produce a realistic impact on them? to make them move with physics? For example, horizontal particles blowing with wind, with a strong force and speed, be able to flip a thin wall? I am able to make the particles stop with the wall, but it doesn't move the wall, even at zero gravity. The wall object is set to Active bullet. What am I missing? Please help

hi hasan! what you want the particles to do is at the core of the nParticle system. all nParticles interact with objects and forces in the nWorld. search the web or youtube for what you want to achieve.
