I have to agree Garrett, that's a lot of weight. Maybe use 1" pvc and add some cross pieces. I'd also put a poly tarp over the boat cover to help the snow slide off more easily.
I am Impressed. I plan on coping Jerry's DIY. One suggestion for myself and others. When cutting the lengths, use a pvc pipe cutter. They work great and you carry them in your pocket when your making final adjustments to pipe lengths. Will save you from climbing up down a few times. Don't for get to have some sand paper with you.
Thanks for watching Tomas and great suggestions! Only one caution be careful if you're gluing the fittings to the pipe, be sure to have some protection on the deck for any drips you may have.
This is a good idea, thanks for the video sir. I want to build a shelter over ours, but I just had to come out of pocket for my daughters braces. I guess I'm about to make this setup for ours to use until I build the shelter because it's got covers on the seats, but it's been without a main cover since last summer & the floor gets full of tree debris. It's not under trees, but near trees. Keeping it cleaned out is exhausting. By the time I get the boat cleaned up, I don't even wanna take it out anymore lol😅.
Thanks Greg, it held up really well through this past winter but to be honest we didn't get much snow this year. If we have a winter with more snow I may cover the whole thing with a regular tarp giving it more strength and I'm thinking the snow may slide off of it better.
It did great Sharlene, my easiest winter ever boat cover-wise. We don't typically get much snow here, just a few 4 to 8 inch storms. With more severe winters like you have I would consider adding more cross pieces. I've been thinking that if I'm expecting a larger snowfall I would add a tarp over the boat cover as it seems the snow would slide off of the "plastic" tarp easier than the "fabric" boat cover.
@@frankr2757 Sorry to hear 2 of the 5 ways broke Frank, did you glue them as I did or just friction fit? As far as the height I was just guessing, bent the PVC until it looked right.
Thanks for watching Tim, sorry for the slow response, I normally get notifications of comments but somehow that became disabled and I didn't see yours until this morning. My rails are 1 1/8" square tube and are 92 1/2 " to the outside, 90 1/4" to the inside. I'm happy to answer any other questions you may have.
I'm in Canada I like the design just not sure about 3 ft snow

I will be doing mine today using your model. Well done!
Thanks for watching, good luck on the build, I hope it works out as well for you as it has for me!
The 5 way was the missing link, thank you very much!
Exactly Mr Crypto Bull, seeing one sparked the idea for the entire design, just had to work out the details.

Very good video. Thank you. Will do same.
Thanks for watching Katar, good luck on your build. It worked great last winter, just going into winter number two now.
Great Job, I have a cover but always park my Boat in my garage when not on the water. I am still going to try you DIY system.
As a bonus my cover was easier to slide on over with my support system.
Great video Jerry!
Thanks John, I hope it helps anyone with the same problem I had finding an affordable system that works.
Great job. Just used this for our pontoon. Going to try some pool noodles to the PVC for wear and tear.
Awesome Chris, I hope it works out well for you! Love the idea of pool noodles.
I’m definitely gonna do what you did that’s excellent
Thanks for watching John! This past winter has been the easiest as far as my boat is concerned, I hope the upcoming winter is the same for you.
Great job mr Jelly watching from Uganda 🇺🇬

I have the same problem with debris from the pine right behind my boat, I hope yours works out as well as mine has!

Liked - think it's a nice simple design that appears to work well.

I love the way you're creative keep it up
I love this idea. How did it do over the winter. Living in upstate New York we can have lots of snow.

great job!!! I have a 21ft and I will try your system!! nice
Thanks for Frank, it's held up through this winter so much better than anything else I've tried. I hope you have the same results with yours!
@@wanderingjerry just had my second cover ripped by rain and wind .
Just completed the frame.. I think I got it a little too high. I broke 2 of the 5 way pvc.. but it appears good..

Thanks. Very helpful
curious in matching mine… what is your width, rail to rail?

Thanks Hunter but I could just be a guy with too much time on his hands! 🤪
Wondering how much 3/4”
PVC you purchased for project?
Thanks for watching Lynn, according to the receipts I was able to find I bought 80 feet.
Did you ever post the total material list ?
It's in the description Bruce, if you're watching on your phone just click on "more" right under the title.
