I have only a word in my mind.... Awesome! I spent my childhood on night trains in summer when i came to Sicily for vacation. And when i saw these trains i fantasized about comfort and luxury on board of these wagons. TEE tariffs were too expensive for 95% of italian people. The ticket was first class only with supplement. But this was an exclusive mode of travelling for celebrities, rich people and politicians. FS foundation made a great effort to preserve a convoy like this. It witnessess the good old times of italian railways until the end of nineties. Oh yes now we have high speed trains and new infrastructures, but we have lost forever the magic of a travel. Speed is all, no time to waste from city to city. Business is business. But i still consider myself a traveller not a tourist or a businessman; so many thanks Chris for giving us a jewel like this. Always i got chills when i see the spectacular navigation of Messina Strait onboard of a ferry, not to mention the taste of "lemon granita" or the fantastic "rice arancina" that are welcoming you before arriving in Sicily on the ferry bar.
Thanks for your hospitality, it was amazing. Will we see a similar train this year? I have lots of British friends who would love to travel. But they need more than 10 days notice!
