hi I'm a new subscriber I'd like to know if the flaring of the fins and dancing was a spawning ritual or was that males showing dominance???

Hi, welcome aboard. The males are displaying to each other for dominance, they will try to own a little space of territory and drive other males away, then they can focus on the ladies :)
