Brian, you are teacher 👨🏫 material. I watched all your math teachings necessary for my placement test and I scored high. I wish you were math teacher during high school. Thank you loads.
One time in 5th grade I had this kind of problem and she said and I quote “make the fraction into a mixed number, add the 8, then you got 9 1/3” I was blown away of how simple it was. Those were the days..
You, my good sir... you have earned a subscriber with this first video I have ever seen. Thank you. Holy smokes. You probably have a good idea how hard it can be to find a concise video on what I need that isn't overly complicated or too fast. You're awesome
I did it the way you suggested it first. Then I realized that 4/3 equals 1 1/3. 8+1 1/3 equals 9 1/3. Both ways work, put this other way was a lot simpler.
I have a question, A guy in accountancy class added it as this -100 +130/1.08 to 20.37 If we follow your rule it will become infinity because then it will be -108/1.08 + 130/1.08 = error as 22 is getting divided by 0 kindly revert back
No the reason it stays as 4/3 is because we already have a common denominator so we don’t need to find that and the rest is just do addition with the numbers the one with 24 + 4 The one in 8/1 is the one we have to change in denominator so we can get our 1 to be 3 just like in the other one so they can be common
seriously forgot how the basics are done and you saved me hahah xD
Same.
They use fraction more often in grade 9 😆
@@bluetube767 exactly

Sameeee
@@ashlynnatalie1402 i am in standard five aka class 5 and this is so hard i cant find the right vid to watchh
There’s nothing like reviewing the basics. It would be great to have a series for forgetful, old math nerds like myself.
nancy rupp I second this

Lol. It’s magical he went down to the basics !!! And I’m happy!

why is the thumbnail the actual question I'm tryna find the answer to? that creeps me out a bit...
Wow! As being 5th grader I needed this video to solve it for my quiz. It helped a lot! Thank you!
I like this guy. He helped me with my math packet
To make more simple 8x3=24 then add the 4=28 and just copy the denominator 3
=28/3
THANKS DUDE YOU JUST SAVED ME thx ALOT
Thx Mr Brian it was so simple , easy ,quick the again 😁
I really needed this I forgot the basics.:)
You are very welcome!!
I did it the way you suggested it first.

This saved me! thank you
U are such a great math teacher I was also stuck in this question for my homework but you have saved us others have wrote 2yrs ago me just now
This teacher is the best of the best😄
I have a cAAT coming up and this will help me a lot thank you so much
Thank you sir for clearing the concept 🙏🏻
28/3 ( 3x 8 = 24 + 4 = 28 and keep the denominator thus 28/3)
:) thank you, this was quite helpful
Thanks it really helped a lot
You are very welcome!!
Explanation is so good
So helpful!!!👍🏽👍🏽
This helped me ALOT
i would just have them mutiply the opposite denominators to the other side for an equal denominator. isn’t it called butterfly method?
Have an exam in 2 days .forgot the basics😂.and you saved me.😊😊😊😊😊
Bro I needed to find out how to do this before a test! 😂 he taught me way better and easier than any of my teachers could ever
Glad I could help!
Fantastic! Thank you!👍
Thanks Brian, I was stuck on these types of problems in algebra all weekend, all I had to do was put 1 under the fraction lol. Thank you again.
Great, I got the best math teacher ever
Thank you Mr.Brian without you're help I'm like a dummy crying my self out
Very nice explanation
I love you!!! Thank you so much
This helped me a lot thx
Thank you!
Thanks you for this video.
First
Brian do you have a whiteboard at your house???
no
He is at school duh
I have a question,
A guy in accountancy class added it as this -100 +130/1.08 to 20.37
If we follow your rule it will become infinity because then it will be
-108/1.08 + 130/1.08 = error as 22 is getting divided by 0
kindly revert back
So he straight away solved fraction and then added -100 to it.
Is that right to do??
Thank you so much!
My boy walked up to that white board like a boss
Dude, this is great and all. But you just made it super difficult. And yes, there are simpler ways to do this. BUT, it's really informative!
simpler??? Show me the ways.
This guy helps me too much
you are amazing
junior in highschool i actually forgot this tysm
Of course right before a test I can’t remember anything thank you for help
0:12 I forgot the whole part
Thank you❤
How did you get 1 as the denominator
i skipped pre algebra and so now i find my self on these types of videos.
What if 8 is on The other side Like 3/4 +8 . Is it the same thing?
Where did the remainder of 1 come from?
Thanks!
Dis very helpful thx
Thanks a whole lot
This is so basic for me when i was grade 5 AND NOW I'M WATCHING THIS
What a coincidence!! The fraction that I was working with was also 4/3, unfortunately my whole number was 8.
OMG THANKS THIS HELPS ALOT ESPECIALLY BC IM ONLY IN FIFTH BUT DOING 6TH GRADE MATH
It is a childplay... I am in class 1.l do it before you... 👍👍👍👍👍
TYSM I STARTED KUMON A FEW WEEKS AGO AND I FORGOT HOW TO DO THIS
You saved me sensei.
The outro was very royal and cool
At least for an Indian lol 😆
Thank u so much
So why not convert 4/3 to 1 1/3 then add 8+1+1/3 = 9 1/3 ?
very good exp
Thank you. You helped a bunch because I forgot how to add fractions.
Umm sir how about (1/5) + 9
Do you still use the same steps
Yep
@@brianmclogan thank you sir
Wish I can go back to middle school a re learn this ahhh hate math
Thank you
You are very welcome!
8 + 4/3 = 8 + 1 + 1/3 = 9 1/3.
Or did you want 28/3?
Im a college student looking this up
I'm confused. If you have 4/3 don't you have to convert it into 1 1/3? So it would be 8÷ 1 1/3?
No the reason it stays as 4/3 is because we already have a common denominator so we don’t need to find that and the rest is just do addition with the numbers the one with 24 + 4
The one in 8/1 is the one we have to change in denominator so we can get our 1 to be 3 just like in the other one so they can be common
The butterfly method is simpler, but I wonder what was I missing because I got wrong..
It this the same formula for subtraction??
Yes
Thank you sir
You are very welcome!!
mr clean ahh guy 💀💀💀
Watching it after three years hha any way nice teaching
Thx sir♥️
8 + 4/3 = 24/3 + 4/3 = 28/3
thankyou
