This could be lack of servicing and neglect of necessary care! It needs serious attention nowbefore an accident happens. Especially now that it does not close properly when opened.That is why a stitch in time saves Nine! The nuts are all rusted!
Perhaps it’s because it’s over 100 years old now, and no amount of maintenance has been able to keep it reliable? Hence the replacement
