On August 11, 1973, 15-year-old Cindy Campbell threw a back-to-school party in the Bronx that forever shaped music history. 50 years later, August 11th is commonly celebrated as the birth of Hip-Hop. Women have always been there, influencing, promoting, and creating Hip-Hop culture. In celebration of Hip-Hop 50 and our inaugural episode, BRIC President Wes Jackson speaks with critically acclaimed hip-hop journalist, Kathy Iandoli. Thank you to Kamauu, Tanya R., Bria Ford, Nicole, BreezyLYN, Girll Codee, Nijah, Juliet, Daquan, Florette, Chasity, Jackie, and Nicole N. for participating in our person-on-the street interviews at BRIC's 50th anniversary Hip-Hop Block party.
