Hey! Could someone give me the context of the song so that I can fully understand the meaning? English not being my native language doesn't help... ': )

The song is from the musical Company, which is about the character Robert (the character Aaron plays).
The pianist says the text of Roberts Friends, who all have partners and kids while Robert is still alone because he doesn’t see the need for a life partner.
In the Show Robert learns about the good and bad parts of being in a long relationship. He visits his friends and sees them fight, he ruins one of his friends wedding, he breaks up with his three girlfriends etc.
Before this song, one of his female friends offers him I think sex(?), and he doesn’t want to.
He says “i didn’t mean that. i haven’t looked into all that, into marriages and all that, and what do you get for it? What do you get??” then his friend leaves and this song happens.
The show ends almost right after and I honestly didn’t quite understand the ending but after this song it seems like Robert decides to stay alone.
There’s a great video of the whole show on RUclips (with Neil Patrick Harris as Robert) if you’re interested: ruclips.net/video/ZS6s25bkCoE/видео.html
