- An episode of a Goodson-Todman production from early 1956 that aired Saturday mornings on NBC, the only G-T game show aimed specifically at kids: "Choose Up Sides", in which two teams of kids, "The Space Pilots" and "The Bronco Busters", competed in "Beat the Clock"-type stunts for kid-type prizes.
Gene Rayburn hosted. Narrator was Don Pardo, who also played the voice of "Mr. Mischief" on the show.
Charmingly goofy if you like that sort of thing, and you should.
Oooohhh. Ian Scott of 265 Clinton Avenue, Brooklyn, NY lived a block away from where I live now.
This show premiered the day after I was born. Now I gave my age away! And my birthdate! LOL!!!!!!!
This was like a pre curser for Nickelodeon's Double Dare.
They could have gotten the idea for Toy Story from this. Bronco Busters(Woody) vs. Space Pilots(Buzz Lightyear)
Wouldn’t surprise me if the writers of Toy Story Loved this show back in the day.
This is way before the late great Gene Rayburn will be the host of The Match Game on NBC and again on CBS in the 70's.
RIP Eugene Rubessa AKA Gene Rayburn,Born on December 22,1917 in Christopher,Illinois,Died on November 29,1999 at his home in Beverly Massachusetts from congestive heart failure.
(Crying)I still. miss you..Gene.
Tommy Tompkins and Roger Peterson were the two team captains. Mr. Peterson found continued employment with the Goodson-Todman organization for several decades afterwards as production manager.
Allan Sherman, in his autobiography, said that when he was producing "I'VE GOT A SECRET", he requested a secretary for the longest period. Finally, Mark Goodson sent him one. Allan thought it was going to be a very attractive woman......"At the stroke of ten, my new secretary walked in. His name was Roger Peterson."
This was one of two kids tv game shows that Gene Rayburn hosted..the kids tv game show that he mc'd was"The Sky's The Limit"on WCBS TV Ch.2 in NYC.
Don Pardo pre-Saturday Night Live announcer.
He was an NBC staff announcer for over 50 years.
Don Pardo, i miss his voice on SNL just not the same.
Mr. Mischief was voiced by Don Pardo!
Old Man Periwinkle said: "I'm so old ("How Old is he?") That I remember watching him host (blank)"
This type of kids TV game show was revived on 10/3/1959 as "Just For Fun!"hosted by Sonny Fox and later by "Uncle Fred"Scott..saturday mornings on WNEW TV Ch.5 in NYC.
NOT produced by Goodson-Todman, though.
Wait, what? Not everyone gets a trophy?
This lasted 13 weeks, on NBC's Saturday afternoon schedule from January through April 1956, at 12:30pm(et). It would have lasted longer, had the show found a sponsor (or sponsors).
Kellogg's would've been perfect for Choose Up Sides (though they would later sponsor What's My Line?).
The Kellogg's cereal co. should have sponsored this kids TV game show..Jonathan..but..it didn't.
Man they came up with all types of games lol.
This was cool for the kids here, but what a dirty trick, only 25 points (not 50) for the final Mischief thing?
This could've been revived many times.
Was this a kids game?
I think the writers must have inhaled some pretty strong substances.
What are the rules
Mr. Mischief was totally creepy.
+Michael Maloney So creepy it was hard to believe that, in addition to being the announcer for "Choose Up Sides", the legendary Don Pardo also got to do Mr. Mischief's voice.
No broadcast on Buzzr. re "Mr. Mischief was totally creepy." My first impression.
not one of don pardos best annoucing moments sorry
Can I have the rules
This show looks really swell, but gah-lee i so wanted the Space Pilots to win.Oh well I'll tune in next week to see if the Bronco Buster side wins again.
Kid's there today either dead or on their 70s or 80s.
Boomers having fun
this show didnt last long.
