- As you might know, I broke my hand recently, so I've decided to make a pair of spare ones. That's a lie, we've planned this project way before my hand got sckmooshed.
This project, in collaboration with Shaya Hazan, will be exhibited in the Tel Aviv Museum of Art on the 15th of June 2023.
If you happen to be there, come and say hi.
The exhibition "Mouthful" will be up for six months after that.

Ya know, Uri, I would personally love to see a video where you made some custom panels to cover or replace the blue parts of your new band saw. Maybe some wood with brass accents? Hand engraved? With an upside down pidgeon? or a circular mirror in the middle?
I would love to see some glass added in to have a view of any interesting parts while running.

Word to the wise: don't buy a bandsaw that repeatedly screams for its release from this mortal coil. Especially it's very mortal motor winding coil.

The bandsaw probably has an over temperature cut out. And, check the blade is not clogged up, cutting hardwood can lead to crust filling the blade notches. Lots of fun!
You need to do thumb rolling machine next, in Finland we have this saying when we are doing nothing "there's nothing to do but roll your thumbs".
That looks similar to when praying people cross their fingers but palms are open so your thumbs can orbit eachother.

it's always insane to me how you manage to sculpt incredible things out of single blocks of wood with such ease, like you just made a beautiful realistic hand and it's only like 2 and a half minutes into the video lol

Uri, I'm sure you hear this all the time, but I'll say it anyway. your engineering skills are obvious, and that's what I love most; your mechanisms are fantastic. But then you take it beyond that to a level I can't touch; you make it all beautiful. Seriously, it's like looking at the automatons of hundreds of years ago. Your craftsmanship is incredible. OK, enough gushing about your abilities. I'll finish by saying, thank you for sharing them :)

Simply amazing...Congrats!! As a constructive note...if you dovetail the finger joints it will track without side flex, and you will not need most of the hardware.

With regard to the band saw, when you have to get a new one, I recommend getting one with a brushless motor. If a brushed DC motor gets jammed up for too long, all of the inductors will eventually become saturated and you basically end up with a short circuit. With a brushless motor, the motor current will always be alternating, so it won’t short, even if it gets stuck.
