Impressed with all your projects and having such a young family. I am retired and started cross-stitching when my two girls were in grammar school. With working full-time, and all the chores of a home, children, and spouse there wasn't much time to cross-stitch I would stay up late to stitch when the house was quiet. Now that I'm retired I stitch anywhere from 4-6 hours a day. Still have to keep up the house and meal prep but I make at least that much time each day to stitch......I've earned it :) Happy Stitching!!

I am retired. I do get more stitching done, but once the cold weather sets in especially, then my disabilities kicks in. Also, I have so many medical appointments, it is exhausting. I consider myself lucky to get 50 stitches in a day on 14- or 16-count. I envy you so much at being able to do full coverages, so I really enjoy watching your flosstube.

I am 72 and have been retired for a number of years. I do stitch every day and usually for hours at a time. I’m very lucky to have a husband who helps around the house and does all the grocery shopping. I also quilt and knit and crochet a little bit, but mostly I cross stitch. When I work on a HAED I can usually stitch between 600 to 1000 stitches in a day. I usually work on a project for several days before I switch projects, and I have MANY to choose from! We also travel a lot, especially cruises and I always take a couple cross stitch projects and a small knitting project with me and work on them in my spare time. I have a quilting day with my friend every week, church and visiting friends on Sunday, and a few evenings each week I watch my grandbaby. And of course, I do have to clean house, cook and do laundry, but the rest of the time, you can find me in my recliner, watching floss tube and stitching away!

I do understand where you're coming from with tent stitch! I used to feel the same way in college, I didn't have a ton of spare money so I tried to only buy things that would give me maximum time for the smallest cost. Now that I work full time though, I feel like it's flipped. I have the money but no time, so if I can get something stitched faster I see it as a positive now! Loved seeing your projects!

Hello i also love large projects. I stitch Heaven and earth designs. I am retired and I still don’t think I have enough cross stitch time because I take care of my grandson who is 2 going on 3 and my older grandchildren need rides to and from school and my husband and I have to go to appointments.
I do think you should be proud of your cross stitch even if you made mistakes. I have been tempted to use pencil to grid. I’m glad you showed it because now I know what will happen if I grid with pencil. My ideal day is to wake up get showered and drink coffee. Then stitch all day but those days are few and far between. I started stitching about 22 years ago. There are still allot of things about cross stitch that I don’t know. God bless you and I look forward to your next video. Enjoy your retreat.

I'm retired and because of health issues I'm not too mobile. So cross stitch can fill a lot of my day! I tend to complete a household task, then consider the rest of the day is mine ! Enjoy your first retreat.

Hi Anna! Was happy to see that you had a second video up. Your first project you did as a child is amazing. I would get it framed, you don’t really see the grid lines and for the different blue color I would have never known that it was wrong if you hadn’t said anything. And your second one is also beautiful. I would frame that one too just because it was one of your first projects. I was able to retire this past June. I am enjoying it. I can stitch whenever I feel like it, I am getting a lot more stitching done but my only problem is that I have so many big projects I don’t get as much fully finished. I have been trying to get more small projects so that when get one completed I feel like I am making progress. I do have a serious problem😮, I have more time to spend more money. I probably have enough cross stitch for 2 life times and I can’t stop buying. I was able to go to my first retreat this past Sept in Michigan and it was a lot of fun. I am also going to Stitch Con in June in Ohio. I am really excited about going to this one too. Have fun at your retreat. After you go you will want to go to another one. Just a heads up you might not get as much stitching done as you hope to. There is so much going on, walking around to see what everyone is working on, talking with your table mates, shopping the vendors, meeting the host of the retreat and making new friends. Try and bring something that doesn’t have a lot of counting. I ended up having to frog most of what I stitched. Looking forward to your next FlossTube and hearing all about your retreat❤❤❤

I am retired in a sense, 14 years, I am a stay at home mom and my kiddo has a disability so he is my forever child. I stitch off and on and run my household which actually takes more time than you would think. I have found in life that there is an ebb and flow to all things and huge adjustments so I will echo what someone else said and to enjoy the stage you are in and find a way to be content in it. It doesn't stop me from spending for projects in retirement so definitely do it if you can Happy Stitching 🪡🪡🪡

I have enjoyed your videos, Ana, and your projects are awesome. I am really impressed by those early projects you completed as a child. They are extremely well done. A Floss tuber you might really enjoy is Amylovestoads. She has a love of unconventional pets and stitches a lot of projects that include frogs, toads, insects, butterflies, etc. I am retired and stitch a lot. I do understand how you dream of the day when that may be your life. However, my advice is to just love the stage of life you're at. I would like to feel that I still had years and years ahead of me but realistically that is not the case. I hope you have a wonderful time at the retreat. By the way, I also learned about the result of gridding fabric with a pencil. Oops!

Your projects you did when you were younger are incredible! I don’t think the blue color difference in your first project is noticeable at all, the slightly different shade in the dolphin gives it definition from the rest of the scene and I think it looks great!
I understand what you mean about half stitches, somehow they don’t seem complete to me. If a design like Dimensions is charted with half stitches then that’s how I stitch them, but for full coverage I always do full crosses, it just seems more finished to me. And it brings joy to have the project take as long as it takes, I don’t need to take shortcuts to get it done faster. ☺️
Your snake is adorable! I’m sure some people may not like them but I think Buttons is so cute 😃
Enjoy your time at the retreat!! ❤

It was so cool seeing your past projects! I'm sure I learnt when I was at school and keep meaning to dig through the box of things my Mum kept from then to look for some of my earliest stitching. The size and detail of the things you stitched as a teenager are so impressive!
I have a spinner for picking projects but I only use it when I'm feeling really indecisive and even then it's only to force myself to have a gut reaction of "Yeah I don't mind working on that" or "Urgh no I definitely don't want that one" 😂 Just like when you tell your partner you don't mind what cuisine of food to eat but as soon as they choose you know "not that" 😂😂

I really think you should frame one or both! Love the patterns. Have a wonderful time at retreat. I’m going to my first stitch retreat next June. Stitch-Con. I live in Ohio but 3 hours away so I will be staying at a hotel. I’ve gone to quilt retreats and I know there’s lots of chatting and sometimes not a lot of sewing. I think it's sort of a joke in the community that not much stitching gets done at retreats haha. It's just so fun chatting with people and seeing what everyone else is working on. I limit myself to the number of projects I bring so that I'm forced to work on something haha. One of my friends brings all her floss and projects! I hope you have a great time!

Like you, I have been dreaming and saving for this time in my life's journey - and pray that it will involve oodles of time to travel and cross-stitch to my heart's desire!! I too will be reading the comments from people who are currently retired and hope they will share wonderful stories of life on the other side of the needle. I BEG you - please never show us the snake again! Thank you! Great to see your beautiful snake. We had a Children's Python for about 19 years until he died. Ramases was my daughter's pet , along with her Italian greyhound called Harry. Rammy loved laying around the computer monitor, curtain rods, under Tori's pillow. Great temperament even though , as a baby, he burnt the end of his tail on a heat wire. Try Injecting a snake with 0.01ml of medication every day for 3 weeks........if they twist as the needle enters in can go straight through! Ramases was still a placid easy to handle snake until the day he died. You'll have a lot of fun with Buttons.
Your stitching is great too 😂 ❤

Your projects, now and from your earlier years, are really beautiful. I’ve worked on a few full coverage pieces in my life, but prefer those patters that are not full coverage. Like you, I hate backstitching on the Dimension kits - I finished Ballerina Beauty for my granddaughter earlier this year and was ready to rip the hair from my head at the end when I had to backstitch it all. I have to admit though that the end product of a Dimension Gold kit is absolutely gorgeous, but for me, one is enough.
Your daughter’s snake is cute, but where will you be keeping it when it’s six feet long and full grown?
As a retiree I do try to stitch a few hours every day, but life sometimes still gets in the way… it’s a hobby that when I have the time to pick up a project I enjoy the process and the relaxation it brings.
