even despite Diesel gate the TDI and 6speed manual is one of the best engine transmission combos you can put in a car.... the drivetrain is one of the main reason I would buy a car, afuel efficient reliable drivetrain, and the sport wagon is sharp, fun to drive, and has tons of storage space, I love them

Love this program -- just bought a 2014 Passat TDI SEL Premium CPO for $13k with 28,000 miles. The CPO warranty makes it even better -- in addition to the extended emissions warranty (10 years, 3 months or 123,000 miles in my case), the CPO warranty provides a 2-year, unlimited mileage bumper to bumper warranty on the entire car. Can't go wrong!

Steve Pepin YES! Me too! I got a 13 Passat 2.0 TDI SEL as well! Beautiful car. Mine had 69k milles. However I still have all the same coverages you mentioned. The 2 year unlimited mileage bumper to bumper is fantastic. I easily put 40k a year in miles on my cars, so that type of warranty is spectacular to me. I paid $12k for mine. $14k total loan, honestly don’t really recall how the price jumped so much near the end. But 40+ MPG is amazing going from an 04 A4 1.8T I was getting 15-20MPG and that was with premium gas, with regular the car ran horrible and knocked all the time. So basically the cost savings from gas make up the car payment I have now. Lol

I bought a 2015 GSW a month ago. The tdi with the 6 speed manual is soooooooo good. I love it. Watching several videos about these dieselgate vehicles lately. You all were right about the value going up. Between prices on everything going up... I paid a pretty penny for it. Got exactly what I was looking for tho. It all worked out 👍

YUP...the cars were parked in huge lots...hundreds of thousands of them...they started slipping them into the dealers over time once the EPA allowed a fix to them...I bought a 2011 SW TDI for about $9K with 70K miles. About 2 years after we bought it started throwing emission codes (it continued to drive well). I went to a dealer who did about $3.5K in repairs (replaced DPF and a few other things), VW paid for it and haven't thrown a code since...We now have about 150K miles on it...

In-process of buying a 2014 VW Sportwagen TDi that has gone through the VW redo. Can't wait to get it. Didn't notice much difference in the way of performance (mine is a 6 speed manual, the only way I want one). Great price and comes with a nice warranty.

    • @drwisdom1

@@storytimethewrightway3954 My wife had a 2009 with a manual. It was a great car and we did the buyback with 140K miles. I recommended my buddy buy one for his wife and she got a 2014 with a manual. She really liked it. They did the buyback at 50K miles and with the money got a new Golf Sportwagen TSI with manual and had $5000 leftover. After the embargo was rescinded in 2017 I got a heavily discounted new 2015 Golf Sportwagen TDI with manual. I have put 22K miles on it and it averages around 45 mpg and gets in the 50s on the highway doing 75 mph. Oops, I was replying to threeer02's comment. But regarding the warranty, it appears to be really good but the length of the warranty is variable. It has two phases, but what is really important is the second part kicks in after you get the "modification". If you don't wait and get it early (they will try and talk you into it), then you shorten your warranty.

I don't care about the diesel gate thing. The cars run great, with the exception of the NOx sensor getting dirty around 40k miles, the cars are great. If you live in a place with emissions tests, the fix performed will gaurentee you will pass emission tests.

Here’s my thoughts. I hate VW/Audi for this. It’s horrible for the environment and very shady of them. However I love their cars and German engineering. I’ve owned 2 Audi A4’s, and now I own a 13 Passat TDI. I just bought it a few weeks ago. TDIs are very reliable and long lasting if you maintain well. If diesel is more expensive by a large margin where you live you may want to reconsider, however I do get beautiful gas millage in this car, compared to my old A4 B6 1.8T. Now the big thing is those warranties. Buy CPO from a VW dealer. You get 2 years unlimited millage bumper to bumper in addition to the emissions warranty. That’s on a USED car. And these cars are already priced so cheap because of the scandal these cars tanked in value, so you’re getting a great vehicle, at a great warranty, at a great price. All around a win, win. Now the question is, are you going to support a company responsible for polluting so much of our air, deceiving millions and millions of people for decades, and trust that they “Fixed” the emissions issues with these TDI engines? That’s up to you to decide. Economically speaking though, great buy for myself, and I would recommend just because I love these German cars so darn much.

Thats not how emissions tests work on modern vehicles. Theres no dyno, no revving, etc. You literally just plug the car in to the testing unit via the diagnostic port, run the car a few seconds, and its done.
