Dude, I absolutely loved this video!!! So nice to see you working, and explaining in such detail how to produce quality work, and then enjoying your favorite activity!! Thank you for sharing brother! Stay cool- 😁🙏🌈😎
Vancouver explodes with colour spring time. Enjoyed the unboxing and Vancouver scenes. The elevated shots of Vancouver was spectacular. Park setting for skateboarding shows the city's beauty
Power sanders are a great tool. They sand fast and clean with a vac. However they can mess something up in a hurry. I believe that festool makes a soft pad and a firm pad. For finish with I would go with the soft. The firm pad I would use for heavy removal, texture, etc Have fun
@@thecloneguyz That Festool looks heavy. I have tried Flex giraffe sander and it was really light weight. But any of those should be norm for guy who does sanding daily those remove so much dust while sanding.
Carpenter here, mostly a one man show. Thanks so much Ben, for the drywall and taping videos. I have always admired the skill of the commercial and residential drywall guys I worked along with. I have peppered many of them with questions, over the decades. What I have learned from your videos, has rounded out my education. I now look forward to the drywall and taping stage, on the small/medium sized reno jobs I take on. Oooof, no more skateboarding for this old coot. I'm fifty-seven now... I am looking forward to seeing the Planex in action. Best regards. Michael
This video rocked! I've not seen any videos of Vancouver, ever. Beautiful place! For me, skaters are mesmerizing. Also, I'm watching this video cause I'm a DIY lady bout to mud and sand drywall seams. Thank you for your uplifting how to videos!
I watched your videos to help me (successfully!) plasterboard and joint a door reveal that I would have never considered doing myself before. So thanks! I liked this new content and you do a fantastic job of showing the processes and making it look so easy!
I am originally from New Zealand but live in the US in Wisconsin. I watch a lot of your videos. I am a union painter. I will visit Vancouver some day soon
In addition to the great content of your videos, the coffee and the skateboard action was for me a welcomed and great personal touch. Please keep up the good work and making these great videos. I may be just an interested home owner, but I (try to) keep all your teachings with me. We have an old house, so I know that the occasions that I have to do some drywall work again will keep coming.
Yeah. Continue to share your day!! We all need a upbeat moment to get us through those nasty reno times when it's hard to do our best for our clients!!!
Hey man, Kevin here from Australia. Looks like you've received a nice bit of kit. It's going to be very interesting seeing how you come to rerms with something new. Anyhow great content thanks for sharing. ✌ Peace.
I loved finding out 2 new things about you today: 1) skater and 2) your 38 years old. I can relate. I’m a weekend DIYer that does a lot of skim coating. I’ve been using a cheap Wen electric sander with a craftsman shopvac for about a year and it is a total game changer. You can put a thicker first layer of mud and even leave trowel lines and other imperfections, because the sander takes it off so fast. After sanding I put a final quick thin coat that needs very little sanding if any. I hope all the best for you.
Greetings from Winnipeg. I've ordered the new Festool Planex and CT36 HEPA vacuum. Looking forward to learning from you any tips, tricks or advice on how to use it!
Just got a version of this sander on Amazon. I haven’t used it yet, so I’m really looking forward to seeing your upcoming videos on how you use it and your thoughts. We are renovating our homes, so I’m sure it will be used quite a bit.
Oooooh, a Festool! That will fit nicely in the back of your Porsche Cayenne work vehicle! Could you please make a video on your favorite brands of caviar next time, perhaps include a recommendation for the best accompanying Champagne vintages? ;) J/K, Ben, always enjoy your clips, from one old hawk and trowel plasterer to another (although I can't land an ollie anymore.)
I like your videos as a whole. As a newly self employed contractor, you are a huge help with little things I may not have known. Some videos, admittedly, i don't watch all the way, and I hate vlogs. For some reason I was intrigued the whole time. Great video, and I love the style. Keep it up
Don't say "Mil-an-o" to an Italian. It's "Mee-La-O'! Canadians are incorrigible. Anyway, thanks for all the vids and tips!!!! PS. I was flown to Vancouver for an interview at a tech conference. Arrived late, was shuttled to a hotel, woke up the next morning, got dressed, and was about to leave my room when I decided to open the blinds and take a look at the view. WOW!!! The bay, the bridge, the islands, people sailing and sailboarding, and wake surfing, and then the city with the mountains and snow and skiing! Beautiful.
I sold fextool for a number of years and I used the old Planex. If you think your shoulders hurt you before just wait. They are great tools but pretty heavy. Of course total price is like close to $4000 when you add the vac and sander together a price suited to pros.
I bought my planex easy last year and I love it! The new planex 2 wasn't out in the usa yet and I needed one for work... Anyway good luck with that amazing tool and my one tip would be to get an interface pad it really helped me with controlling all that power!
Okay, I gotta say, I've never thought about the light. Taking that with me from here on. But, so cool to see you skating. Wow. VC on a whole other level here. Is there anything this guy can't do? 😉🤣
There's certain situations where the vacuum sander is really use like small rooms and for ceilings, also really helps keep the job a lot less dusty, however they don't do nearly as good a job as a large sanding sponge and I often go back with the sponge and holding the vacuum tip near to clean up the marks from the vacuum sander.
My dad's actually getting rid of his Festool sander after a year or so of ownership. He used a Porter Cable for decades and finally got rid of it (after having it break over, and over, and over...). The Festool is an amazing system that is very clean, quiet, well-designed, and well-engineered. (Them Germans!) His major gripe is the fact that it's so end-heavy. He does a lot of large commercial jobs where he's sanding all day. And at 62, he's looking for the lightest thing he can find. But based on what I've seen from your channel so far, it'll be perfect for you because of the smaller jobs you do. You just have to get the hang of adjusting the vacuum/suction and sanding disc RPM settings for each job. You may also find that you lose suction on uneven surfaces pretty quickly. I don't know how familiar you are with the rotating sanders, but have it spinning before you're on the wall and do an 'airplane landing/takeoff' onto and off the wall to avoid unwanted gouges. I'm interested to hear what you think about it. Enjoy and good for you (and us)!
Another great video. As a novice with much less experience and expertise you have really increase my knowledge and decreased my insecurity, haha! Kick ass skate videos! Thanks again!
I agree that you need to practice with these sanders. I just bought one, works amazing but it can wreck your work in a big hurry if you don’t pay attention. Still keep my Richard handy!
U should square the whole patch up. If not , make sure u sand all the exterior ridges of the mud!!! Like really good, don’t want lines/ridges after the paint’s laid on 👊🏼
I can give one tip: Always start sander when it's laying on surface never start it in air and then made contact with wall. And reason for that it when it's in air it gets higher RPM and when you lay it down it bites and for sure makes hollow.
Thank you for sharing. The closing of windows whilst sanding is such a simple thing but most people wouldn’t think of it. Dust pouring in up stairs is crazy lol. Hey I didn’t know you’re a champion skate boarder. Wouldn’t have picked it. Got one of those Hyde sanders but the one hand held type and love it for the little jobs I do. Can’t wait to see your new sander in action. Cheers mate 🇦🇺🦘
Been watching your videos for a while and loved the quality of the content purely on its instructional value but really enjoyed this new style of vlogging. Had absolutely no idea you were a avid skateboarder. Nice one!
Nice video, and props for learning a tool before making the video. I just bought a festool drywall sander and even though I had three poster cable sanders before, it definitely still takes some getting used to. I need to get back into the video game, you made it look fun again. Thanks
I just got my house painted, and they gave me a bill that said $0. I asked them, "Why aren't you charging me for the paint?" They said, "Don't worry about it, it's on the house."
Watching your videos shows me how poorly my professional drywallers did on my room addition. And they were professionals from a drywall company. And on the center of the room on the ceiling at the ridge beam all the paper came open. US drywall professionals. That was 9 years ago and I've not redressed the issues of the paper coming open on the ridge beam. I keep telling myself I'll apply an oak faux beam. This is why I'm watching the Vancouver Drywaller--to learn to do this myself and better than the professionals I've hired in the past.
