Chris is one of the 40K authors I really love hearing talk about their work, along with Dan Abnett. It's obvious that he really enjoys speculating about the world and figuring things out about his characters, and he's very enthusiastic about going into detail about his work.
Chris didn't mention but Augusto Zidarov does make another appearance-in an unusual and rather good anthology of linked short stories called "The Vorbis Conspiracy" set on Alecto that features many of the characters from the W40k Crime novels, including one by Chris featuring Zidarov.
Thanks for a great interview Mira. Loved Chris's work for as long as he's written for BL. As discussed 100% recommend the Vaults of Terra and the Watchers of the Throne series by Chris also. And his HH White Scars stuff is just 👌
Rachel harrison is a wonderful author and i really enjoyed Honourbound. Hope you get to speak with her some day. it was a really nice counter puch as i was reading a lot of gaunts ghost and Caiphas cain at the time.
I was not aware of this book. I got it in audiobook format now. It will be a good background listening when painting. As always, it is a good format for the interviews. Sounds genuinely interested from the interviewer's side, and the author appears truly relaxed, like they are having a good conversation with a friend... 👏👏👍
Such a fantastic interview, I love how you bring the best out of the guest and get such detailed responses. Thank you for taking the time to ask my question.....especially the cheeky white scar one :D I cant wait for you both to get on to the white scars novels.
I also remember the time in the nineties when I went to the club, was offered a mysterious pill with the Mitsubishi logo stenciled in and the next day I felt like I missed a few pints worth of blood. Soul Hunter is part of the Night Lords trilogy btw, even Chris Wraight is recommending that now!
So glad Chris said Phillip Kerrs novels were an inspiration. I read his Berlin trilogy before I picked up bloodlines and was sure there was a bit of a connection!
@@miramanga Hoping for a Guy Haley interview about Flesh and Steel! Those are my standouts from the crime novels . I think Chris does world building and making the city feel atmospheric and relatable the best but I think Guy has really playful and engaging character dynamics in his works. I love Guy’s character interactions, he really brings Cawl and Guilliman to life. Flesh and Steel has loads of that. Thanks for these interviews, they are so interesting.
Thanks for bringing up my question! Curse the doorbell! In Guy Haley's book it's Zhao-Arkkad I believe, but I I think that setting is different? It's one of the reason I asked, b/c Zhao-Arkkad is a slightly problematic forge world with a troubled past. It's big, but I believe that's not one of the ones that was used in the Codices to represent a particular detachment.
Thanks for this video, wonderful insight into a great book, love the sub-plot that you think is an affair which it sort of is, but with the Emperor. I've only listened to the audiobook so I've missed the glossary, but Zidarov is wonderfully portrayed in the audiobook as are the rest of the characters. Flesh and Steel is another great WH Crime book, both nice palette cleansers from more mainstream 40k novels. Love this kind of stuff, both the books and these talks with the authors.

Love these long form interviews with BL authors. Long may they continue
Thank you.
Definitely read Watchers of the Throne though, you deserve to meet Aleya, we all do :D
You will have to get through a space battle or two, but you should really interview Chris on 'Sea of Souls'.
'Lords of Silence' is awesome too! Just got to the bit where that is mentioned. Has really got me into Chaos perspective books.

Chris is my equal-favourite BL author along with ADB and Sir Abnett.
Fantastic video, massive fan of Chris' work! Would love to one day interview him myself!
@@TheAmberKing yay! Thank you ☺️👍🏼
Great interview, Chris is fantastic author enjoyed all the books I read by him.
Amazing interview. Love the insight, great questions Mira
"Warhammer Crime" was a great idea.
Without Warhammer Crime, we wouldn't have Baggit & Clodde!

You got me dancing in the kitchen with the intro 🎶 💃 🕺

Best Warhammer novel ever. Just saying.
These musical intros are getting completely out of control; I didn't parse that it wasn't just a sampled song until a couple seconds in.
Comment for the comment god!
