Update: the car seems to be 100% better! Hope this helps some of you out :)
Auto Autopsy I have an 09 aero 2.8t and I have a misfire in cylinder 5 which is the rear drivers side. I want to replace the coil and plug. Will I be okay if I only do that one ignition coil but do all 6 plugs? I have 165k miles btw. I appreciate your help!
Auto Autopsy also it’s bone stock besides a k&n drop in filler. Should I use the same plugs with the same gap?
I have the exact same car where did you get the cold air intake kit
@@neagle1688 Did you replace the coil on cylinder 5 only?
This was an EXCELLENT V-6 instructional video...precise & expedient to the point! Makes a FLAT RATE quote to perspective customers of ANY V-6 transversely mounted V-6 engines a great rationale. Sometimes just taking a little time to walk away & returning when something is extremely is extremely tedious & aggravating makes the task a satisfying success. Your attention to detail (PN, o rings, diellectric grease, & oil fill tube cover) with no short cuts was SUPER! Keep up the great work.
thank you! :)
i just replaced my sparkplugs on my 06 2.8 litre convertable.this morning .took about 3 . hours. all connections went smooth the little o rings were intact . my saab s got 207,000 kilometers or about 128,000 miles. the ngk plugs were on for 42 bucks canadian
your video did convince me that i could accomplish this operation. thank you . by the way my family name is holden and it was holden australia that engineered this motor i have the six speed auto tran with tronic paddles . i am 69 years old and had a quad bypass last year
awesome! no way that's super cool
Holden did NOT engineer this engine.
The block and the block alone was Holden made, nothing else
I used to hate the idea of changing plugs and coils on the 2.8T but once I did it it was so easy and somewhat therapeutic. -Patience is key!
yep! it wasn't terrible
Hey man, great video! I replaced the plugs and coils on my 07' aero v-6 about 2 year ago and still can feel the back pains 😆.
This video literally brought my car back to life. No one wanted to attempt to replace the coil on cylinder 1. I saw this and did it myself. The car runs like it did years ago.
awesome, job well done!
Just finished doing plugs and coils on my 08 Aero. Could not have done it without your video! Great stuff
😁👍🏼 glad to help
I'd pulled it all apart, swapped out plugs and coils, everything was going ok. I did panic a little when I saw the MAP sensor wasn't connect to any hoses (it's to atmosphere) then I found out it was correct. But then I went to put the ECU in and it's symmetrical I didn't know which way was up?? Reviewed your video and installed it, dropped everything back in, fired it up. Great thank you!
👍🏼😁
Thank you for this video. Just went through this process on my 08 with 120k miles. Job seemed impossible until I watched your video.
Tremendous Instructional video with a great touch of humor! You Rock!
Glad you enjoyed it! thanks!
Very good job, definitely appreciate the step by step tutorial, feel a lot more confident now.
Glad it helped
Thanks for the helpful video. I would suggest removing the whole Brake Booster Vacuum hose assembly before mucking around too much while doing the back sets of plugs & coils. I really thought I was going to be able to do it without breaking the hose, but I still broke it anyway.
Definitely could help!
What a great video. I did my 9-3 last night. This would have been much more difficult without your help. And I probably would have never found the 10mm under the ECU to release it.
Awesome, happy to help! :)
Thanks for the excellent video. I have to do my Opel Insignia OPC with is the same engine. Your video will save quite a bit of heartache. Cheers!
As always, great content man, someone already said it before, but your channel really is a goldmine for T-X and other V6 owners :) Unrelated question : are you planning on doing a XWD service video ? especially for the infamous rear differential unit ? Also : any plans for the car's suspension ? Do you still have the original factory springs and dampers on there ?
thank you! Car is on maptun coilovers, and I will probably do a XWD service video sometime in the future if i can get access to a lift
Great video as always. Speaking of the XWD unit. I strongly recommend to service it. I do not know if it is the same Haldex unit that I had on a Opel Insignia V6 XWD, a 2009 car. A couple of months after the machine insurance had expired( 8 years or 120000 km) mine broke down with roughly 80000 km on the clock. Set me back ca 4500 euros for a restored unit (with labor). A new one was at a hefty 7000 on a 10000 euro car. As i understood it some brands have a service interval of 60000 km for that same differential.
Thank you very much!!!!!!! I was on the right track, but your video showed me the way!🙏🏻GREATLY APPRECIATED!
Glad it helped!
Good guide on how to do it 👌not a bad job if you just take your time
yep!
I always use OEM NGK plugs. It will run better and the coils will last longer.
NGK is a good choice for sure
Are silver spark plugs better?
Mine is getting better gas mileage too. Before the coils & plugs replacement I was getting about average 17Mpg. Now I get about average 22Mpg.
Mine has developed an intermittent missfire.
Standard tune.
Just running a cone filter. Even with the stock airbox it does it.
I have a new set of twin iridium plugs and new coils to put in.
Engines on 82 thousand miles.
hope that solves it
Ngk sparkplugs 👍
yep, depends on your tune
Those O-rings, being a vacuum leak, may have been the source of your misfire.
100% could have been..guess we'll never know lol
Thanks I thought I had to remove my intake manifold to do but I am glad this is not the case XD
😁👍🏼
Inquiring minds want to know,... did it run better after all this?
Yes! I meant to make a comment regarding that but I’ll add one now
thx bro for all of ur hard work the and the very helpful videos...MY question is what is the best brands of coils and spark plugs for saab 93 v6 2.8L 2010
OEM only!
Great vid as always. Where did you get that amazing oil-cap? Hope you have a great day 👍
genuinesaab!
@@AutoAutopsy Thanks 👍
I'm so glad I have the 2.0T
lel
Lol I miss repairing my 2.0t but the v6 performance thanks youb
Nice job on the Turbo X, will do oil change and spark plugs and new discs and brake pads on my black 9-5. The same one I showed you on Insta when I sad the model wrong, thihi.
👉🏻👩🏻🦰👈🏻
awesome! have fun with it
Hey mate great videos. Super helpful.
Hey, thanks! :)
Hello have you got a video/link on replacing the glow plugs on a 1.9 9.3 tid
Hello nice video. I mounted 550 injectors on my car but from 1300 to 2500 rpm it mumbles all over, you can't fix it in any way. disassembled taken to a bosch center to have them checked and they say they are fine. is there something that escapes me?
Ayy glad I’ve been doing it the right way
lol, this was my first time doing it ;)
Please may I ask the size of the O-rings on the two lines which go into the intake manifold? I want to have these in hand before I attempt the job as I only have one car.
I’m not sure of the exact size, sorry
1/2" outD 3/8"inDiameter
Hey buddy done the same on mine today.
And the O-rings crumbled away😂 any idea what those valve things are called that go in the back only the manifold
First off, ty for your videos on Saabs.
I have a 2006 2.0 T 4 cylinder Saab, with the sunroof & heated seats. I would like to ask you two questions: my car drives fine. I noticed that sometimes, when I drive home and park the car, about 5 or 6 minutes later it sounds like the radiator is kicking on or venting it does this for about 30 seconds and then it shuts off I'm curious as to what that is, and if it's normal or not normal. I maybe half a qt a month. Can't find any leaks anywhere I did the gaskets and a tune-up nothing's dirty with oil there's no oil under my car I don't burn any white smoke. my fluids are fine, water breaks power steering all good.
#2. The gear shift handle kind of broke apart into pieces.. and the coverings on my buttons on the steering wheel on the right hand side that broke in four different pieces it just crumpled one day when I press the button I got it glued together and stuck back on but it still broken in like six places my second question to you is do you know where I can get another knob with the button for my stick shift or gear shift. I've watched the video how to turn the bottom of it counterclockwise the knob lifts out you put the new one in make sure it clicks pull that black pot up and twist it clockwise to lock it back into place however everywhere I go nobody can find me a new knob you seem to be the most knowledgeable person that I've seen out there who loves his subs like I do so I had to call and ask you don't mean to bother you with questions thank you for your time. God Bless Jerry
no problem. 1) the fans kicking on for a little after the car has shut off is normal; 2) i bet you could find one either on esaabparts or from a saab parts page on facebook
This is a super rare car with a manual! I'm looking at the same car but with an automatic.
Have manual transmissions been installed in 9-3 Turbo XWDs? If so, could you link some info? I'd like to read about it
You mean an auto to manual swap? It's quite difficult; most people recommend just buying a manual instead
Tbh, all the saab 9-3 aeros where I live are manuals, i had to drive across state to buy a automatic one lol (i Live in Michigan btw)
I love the pop fron the coil packs
ASMR at its finest
@@AutoAutopsy lol u should do a pure sound of u working on the car just increase the audio a bit
Thanks for the video non-related where is Bank one considered for the O2 sensor is it right by the turbo is that b1s1. B1s2 is closer to the firewall? And where is the bank 2 sensors located?
the second sensor is down near the bottom of the downpipe. it might be easier to see from the bottom of the car. I believe bank 1 would be the one by the turbo
What would be the best choice if I'm swapping the factory cold air intake?
Do88 makes a good system: ruclips.net/video/nuYuFOj1tiQ/видео.htmlsi=FUow4bnX-I-pt_WN
Great video but I’m wondering why you didn’t go with LFR7AIX plugs?
I have been recommended these for my V6 with a maptun stage 1.
you can run wherever is recommended. i was recommended these and they've worked fine
I've got the 2.8 in my '06 Aero. I get a misfire with a 'ticking' noise coming from the rear cylinder bank when it's damp or raining out. No visual signs of arcing, but I'm assuming it's the coil packs. Any thoughts??
engine ticking? I would assume that's not related to the misfire but I'm not an expert. If you do have a misfire though, its probably plugs or coils
The ticking coming from the rear bank might be the evap solenoid acting up. Mine was.
Did you gap and torque? Or not show thst... I've seen issues over the littlest thing . I stopped using atisieze it seems like it makes so hare to get out. I put little oil and torque to HID spec. If issue check that. I wouldn't have thought but does mskev fifference. I put dielectric grease to
The antisieze is there to prevent you from having issues when reomoving them in the future! i'd highly reocmmend using it. I did gap and torque them, obviously!
Great video.
Thanks!
Снимите видео про замену датчика давления масла на этом моторе.
www.saabwisonline.com should have instructions. there are simpler ways to do it, but I never have attempted the repair
@@AutoAutopsy Посмотрю сейчас, спасибо.
Brisk Silver ER15YS-9 1578, these are very strong for SAAB 2.8T Aero ✌️
great
What brand of coil packs did you put in the 4 cylinder Saab
OEM only: ruclips.net/video/xJyNJzFX2JI/видео.html
A very very important tip: NEVER, NEVER tighten the coil pack bolts too much. I did the spark plug torque at 15 ft/lbs (as you said in the video), and about 7-9 ft/lbs for the bolts. Then my first bolt was broken, and it's not possible for me to get it out now. :(
yeah, not good!!
The coil pack or spark plugs?
Im trying to replace the canister purge valve solenoid on my 2006 v6 saab 2.8 aero but i cant find it. Would u please help me.
I would advise searching forums or Saab Facebook groups
I'm having a misfire PO302. Should I just change Cylinder 2 spark plug and coil pack? And... Did you use Bosch coil packs or just aftermarket? Thanks in advance.
Swap coil from cyl 2 to a different cylinder and see if that misfire goes to that cylinder. if so, you know that coil is bad
Is it the b284 in the turboX?
Yes, same motor that’s in the Aero. The nomenclature is slightly different; the Aero has the B284L and the Turbo X and Aero XWD have the B284R
Hi I’m looking at your reservoir hoses, does the return line (hose with the letter R) go on the right or left ?
Thanks
it goes however i show it in this video! im not sure to be honest without looking at it. i sold my v6 about 8 months ago
Okay thank you I’ll have to do some more research. But nice video it helped me realize that I was definitely capable of doing these plugs myself. Not too bad actually
Followed your video. Replaced only plugs. I've got it all back together. It starts then cuts itself off. SID says 'traction control loss' and 'reduced power'. Any idea what I've done to it?
sounds like you need it scanned with a tech2 for a proper diagnosis
@@AutoAutopsy Spot on. One bent pin in one of the ecu connectors. 😬
I have a Automatic 2.8 V6 Turbo Signum, does anyone know what common issues they suffer with? I can't find anything online....
Here: ruclips.net/video/5XrxbZ4rYgc/видео.html
@@AutoAutopsy Thank-you Bro
use diode electric grease on coils that why they fail. 😎
good tip, thanks
what is that vacuum line called that you took apart?
Brake booster line was one of them
Thanks for the help
:)
Are these a step colder?
Got Bosch coils and denso plugs. Should work on an 08 aero right?
Ps love your videos man. Your Saab collection is the thing of dreams
yes, thanks!
Where did you find the spark plug type that was required?
esaabparts, or from your tuner.
Factory recommanded NGK spark plugs ! Is Denso better than NGK ??? I wonder ......
they've been great for me so far; vtuner recommends them
In the back of the motor is more difficult to change sparkplugs in v6🤪, thanks god is iridium plugs 100,000km change, if it normall? I dont think about it.. I hope to see in the road in New Video reggards my friend
🇬🇷🇺🇸⬆️
thanks man! haha, yeah the back 3 were a little tedious
This video works for the areo v6 to rite?
Yep!
Would this be the same for the 2007 93 aero?
yep!
@@AutoAutopsy Thank you man you always come in so clutch
Good video. On 2007 1.8i 9-3, do you put silicone grease underneath the rings when putting back the ignition pack (four together) to avoid tear of sensitive o-rings? Can I change the orings separately on those ignition packs? I have 1 of them partly destroyed.
Where’d you get that oil cap?
genuine saab
cool
:)
LS coil conversion in the future?
maybe...i've heard they're a good upgrade
Partsnumber? Pleeeease
Where did you get the intake 😃
do88
How many miles om the old plugs?
not sure; from what i remember, they were replaced right before I bought the car, which would mean about 15k ago
If that is 15K in miles it is wrong economy. Change with every oil change. Then you won't need anti seize digger. If Trionic 8 alsof measures ionization through the plugs then never use anything else than prescribed. It messes up the measured values, giving wrong info to the ECU.
I was thinking about replacing my 03 9-5 aero with a 9-3 aero 2.8t but I think this video made me realize I’m just going to buy a newer 9-5 now 😂😂
ripppppp :(
Why?
Were you dropped on your head as a baby or something?
Any newer Saab, especially a 9-5, over a legit older Saab that is actually a Saab (Not just GM with a Saab badge) is crazy, especially a Holden blocked V6.
One of the most ridiculous comments I've ever read on a Saab video, maybe stick to your wife's 1.2L shit box...... You'd be none the wiser anyway!
Can you do a transmission oil change video on this car please?
I don't have an automatic so unfortunately not, sorry
Does it run better now?
yep!
@@AutoAutopsy niice to hear keep up The Nice saab stuff cheers
Broked the brake vacuum pipe😒
sounds about right
ordered one at the Chevrolet dealer and got here in two days..how thick are the o rings?
Never buy after market ignition coils alway Saab , bought some from eBay and the car shook like a turkey
that's exactly what i said! lol!
Gap them to 0.7mm.... the turbo blows the sparks "out" otherwise
I went with what’s recommended by my tuner and haven’t had any issues
Garbage!
How in the hell does a turbo blow out a spark plug full stop?
This is why drugs are bad kids!
I can't believe you have to do all that work just to replace 3 spark plug. What a dumb design. I was actually lost for a bit thinking you were making so other repair too.
🤷🏻♂️
Obviously don't know Saab then!
This is minor inconvenience for a Saab
Any FWD v6 have the sparks in the back of the motor. Go and do one on a Nissan Maxima if you think this is hard
Don’t suppose anyone can get me a part number for the coil packs?
2.8t v6 2007 93 Aero saloon
NGK - 1959 spark plugs, BOSCH - 0 221 604 112 coil packs for B284L engine
do you know how big of an extension you used to put the spark plugs on?
I used the biggest one I had which is probably about a foot long
Auto Autopsy that’s what she said. jk😂 thanks for the info
