I was born in a Catholic family. I used to pray the rosary, light candles, touch wooden statues and kiss them. I was devoted. But, everything was changed, I was introduced to the gospel in 2015 and I decided to accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I followed Jesus- the way, the truth and the life. I was once blind but now I see. I was once a slave to my sins but the blood of Christ has washed them all. The bible is so true and beautiful.

Yesterday I was baptized, and it was an amazing experience. When my pastor brought me up out of the water, he took my hand to help me out of the small swimming pool the church had set up in the back. And as I climbed the ladder to get out of the pool, the people of my church were gathered around singing this song, and continued to sing as I stood there, soaking wet with my towel around me as I fought back tears of joy. When they were finished singing, people one by one came to give me a hug and told me, "Welcome to the family." with big smiles on their faces. It was one of the happiest moments of my life, and I know I will never regret it. My life will never be the same. :)

Almost 50 years of following Jesus. Lost most of my family ( they think I am excentric )but I got hundreds of Christian Brothers and Sisters that love me. My mother went to heaven 2002 then my husband joined her there 2009. These just make Heaven sweeter.

I recently heard the story behind this song. And now the song is never the same to me. Often when we sing this, we sing it as an acceptance of the Gospel for new believers but it is the cost of following Jesus that brought about this song. Amen. I learned the history behind the story awhile ago as well. It really shook me, and I will not lie, I often, often wonder if I'm strong enough to do what he did. I often fear I'm not. A few days ago I had a dream a man broke into my house. I started to pray to God and he pointed a gun at my head, asking me angrily what I said. I knew then that once I mentioned God, he'd pull the trigger. I hesitated for a second then said "God." He shot me. I'm troubled by the events unfolding today. I think it's going to get way worse than anyone knows. I ask anyone reading this to pray, keep me in prayer, and take heed to the story behind this beautiful song. Don't turn back beloved brothers and sisters. Have faith, and endure to the very end! Remember: God is with you, and you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you!

I didn't understand that these people in the church were just as lost as me even though their lives look more put together, they had been brought up in the same false religion called churchianity. I never understood that being a Christian was more than a profession and a choice. It's ALL about HUMBLE repentance. THAT is the Gospel. Godly sorrow that leads to repentance is the only way that you can be saved. I pray for all the people that grew up in the apostate church. That they might be brought to their KNEES in HUMBLE repentance. God bless you, my friend. Yesterday I was baptized, and it was an amazing experience. When my pastor brought me up out of the water, he took my hand to help me out of the small swimming pool the church had set up in the back. And as I climbed the ladder to get out of the pool, the people of my church were gathered around singing this song, and continued to sing as I stood there, soaking wet with my towel around me as I fought back tears of joy. When they were finished singing, people one by one came to give me a hug and told me, "Welcome to the family." with big smiles on their faces. It was one of the happiest moments of my life, and I know I will never regret it. My life will never be the same. :)

I recently heard the story behind this song. And now the song is never the same to me. Often when we sing this, we sing it as an acceptance of the Gospel for new believers but it is the cost of following Jesus that brought about this song. Here's the story (from Wikipedia) "The lyrics are based on the last words of a man in Assam, north-east India, who along with his family was converted to Christianity in the middle of the 19th century through the efforts of a Welsh missionary. A few days ago I had a dream a man broke into my house. I started to pray to God and he pointed a gun at my head, asking me angrily what I said. I knew then that once I mentioned God, he'd pull the trigger. I hesitated for a second then said "God." He shot me. I'm troubled by the events unfolding today. I think it's going to get way worse than anyone knows. I ask anyone reading this to pray, keep me in prayer, and take heed to the story behind this beautiful song.

I grew up in the church as well. I didn't understand that these people in the church were just as lost as me even though their lives look more put together, they had been brought up in the same false religion called churchianity.
I never understood that being a Christian was more than a profession and a choice. It's ALL about HUMBLE repentance. THAT is the Gospel. Godly sorrow that leads to repentance is the only way that you can be saved.
I pray for all the people that grew up in the apostate church. That they might be brought to their KNEES in HUMBLE repentance. God bless you, my friend. I was a drug addict for many years until I humbly admitted that I was a sinner and reached out to Jesus for salvation. Now my life has never been the same. I was delivered from addiction over night.
