I find that temptation is much easier to resist when my heart is right with God. Instead of focusing on controlling our behavior, we should focus on surrendering our hearts to the One who loves us perfectly. 1 John 5:3 puts it this way: "For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome."
Love God AND LOVE others AS you Love yourself. 1 John 2:15, 17 - King James 15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever. Our Father assigned us each our ministry on our creation. Its up to us to follow our Father, or the world.
Well said even secular therapists agree the body goes where the mind focuses therefore Paul thou shall meditate on the name of the Lord with All your heart mind body and soul which delivers more than anything bodily the Bible is truly out of this world thanks ❤ Amen
Thank you for the teaching. The topic is also resolved personally by whether or not one feels convicted in their spirit. When we feel that conviction, it is a warning to back away.
@@Earth2Flo-v6f really I do not recall your book mentioning whether jeezus masturbated. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he probably did not watch online porn. But in common-era-judea they probably did not have cable.
Interesting subject, convictions... We are certainly called to develop convictions/spiritual discernment. However, I do think that convictions can and are affected by multiple factors, including culture and teaching (accurate - or less accurate). So I think even our personal convictions must be brought to subjection to God and tested to determine whether they are completely valid.
Thanks for addressing such a sensitive topic in a respectful way. Not cringe worthy. People in the church are NOT addressing "real life" which makes people think Christianity is not relevant.
You are right, the Church is not addressing this SIN. This sin broke up my 17-year marriage and that was 20+ years ago so you can imagine how shrouded the subject was!

Genisis 38:1-10 is not how i read that, the sin is not about spilling the seed on the ground, its more to do with Onan refusing to do his family duty under Gods Law in the old testament, by being crafty and using primitive birth control methods, avoiding giving his brothers wife, children. the act of spilling the seed on the ground is an artefact, but not the reason he was put to death, he was basically defying God because of his ego, refusing to give children, because he knew the children would not be his, the ego is the sin, the refusal to act under gods law is the sin, and not the spilling, which was just the means to an end.
That explanation makes much more sense to me.. a God with omnipotent.. omniscient.. power can't possibly be as obsessed with human genitalia as the fundamentalists are.
We have to let young people know that they will not burn in hell for a biological impulse that can be RELENTLESS. I wish we had this kind of guidance when I was young. Maybe I would not have hated myself. Thank you, and God bless you.
@@TainyaGaming However who was born with human nature will burn in hell by a sadistic God of Love. The sin of human nature will condemn you all, just because you have been born with flesh and human nature.
I never finished watching his video because it sounded like he was telling people it's a sin. But I will tell everyone from 1 on 1 experience with God that it's not a sin and in fact it's very healthy for the body! It's only a sin when you are lusting after someone else and men certainly don't need to masturbate to lust over anyone! I had a demon haunting and physically attacking me that escalated into almost 20 years and I begged Father God that He could do anything to me just don't put me in hell. Father spoke to me from Heaven in 2013 and warned me I must humble myself and if I obey no harm would come to me. I am demon free alcohol free anxiety depression everything! But if I dare watch any supernatural movies or anything or sin purposely the devil will pay me a visit within 2 days. So I know without a doubt I'm not doing anything wrong and have prayed a few times asking Him if it's ok? I have to obey or I give authority to the devil to come in and attack me. That's how I know it's not a sin. But er must keep our thoughts and actions clean. God bless you 🙏❤️
It’s something that you have to pray earnestly to overcome. You keep taking it to the cross of Calvary. Jesus bore that sin on the cross, and He will deliver you! I had an obsession with it for years, but God totally set me free! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
It's hard for a women because we feel we may die and old maid for there is not enough marriage material men. No excuses to do this though Satan uses this against unwed girls especially but boys also. We don't have to browbeat Christians and even nonbelievers. To leave a life of abstinence is hard. But remember it's better to marry than to burn is so hard these days. Too many playas
@@briannall6232not everyone gets married, plus marriage usually ends up in divorce. Why marry if it won't last? Why marry, so that then you can't remarry or else you'll make the other person commit adultery, and yourself you will be an adulterer. How is marriage in these days good when it causes you to sin, especially those that don't know the Bible when suddenly 2 people fall out of love and people change. How many daily remarry, thus commiting sin and yet they're perfectly fine with it. What difference is this sin of remarrying and adultery than fornication and being unmarried? One thing we all sin daily knowingly and unknowingly, no one is perfect. Pharisees were after perfection but it didn't stand with Jesus!! If 2 people are not perfect, marriage is not perfect and not worth it. What about the trauma of the divorce that causes lasting pain, because it simply didn't last? Is that healthy? You think marriage will stop one from pursuing another relationship? Happens everyday. Marriage also serves the carnal desires if the flesh, except its in convenent that's only if the couple are believers. So explain who's right, perfect, and blamless before God.
Very insightful and biblically accurate. As always with everything, it's a condition of the heart/mind. Prayer is key. All things come to those who ask. Our Lord never gives us a portion but always pours out blessings to those who love him.
Fr. Spyridon, please take your time in getting better. After my heart surgery, it took me over one year to start feeling like a human being again. You are loved. Sally from New Jersey in USA.
I decided, after many disappointing relationships, and all of the disease going around, to abstain from sex. Then, after doing it several times, I decided that masturbation was something that I just couldn't justify, as a believer in Christ. I tried not thinking about anything salacious, while I was seeking that physical relief - and just focusing on God and how amazing our bodies are - but I always felt uncomfortable. Who wants to jerk it in front of their father? Now, I just try to resist, just as a drug addict or alcohol must do. It's not easy, but it gets easier. One thing someone said to me, once, was that if you don't window shop, you're less likely to spend money on an impulse. So, when those feelings come, I refuse to linger on them. Move along and pray for the window and resist, because, God says, "If you resist the devil, he will flee from you."

That last slide about the obsession to quit masturbating spoke to me since I was doing what people call "NoFap" back in 2020 to 2021 and it was horrible. I became so obsessed to quit that it was almost worse than the obsession to actually masturbate. But over the years I've learned a lot more about sexuality and myself. I was raised in a very strict Christian household and nobody ever taught me about sex or my sexuality. Sadly, most of my sexual teaching came from porn, which I was exposed to at 7 years old. I know porn and real sex are totally different but I still have nothing to compare it to as I've only had experience with porn. However in the last two months I started going down the rabbit hole of understand sex and my own sexual nature as a man. Feels weird to find out that masturbation in itself isn't really a sin but rather your heart posture while doing it. From what I understand, masturbation and sex are similar in the sense that it's not the act itself that's a sin, but the context around it. Having sex with your lovely wife is beautiful, but doing it with a random girl from a bar on a one night stand isn't very God honoring. Similarly, masturbation is in my opinion (you are open to disagree here) God's way of letting us release our sexual desire that builds up from time to time, without falling into sexual immorality. However, only when we masturbate to porn or while having fantasies about someone or something, it becomes wrong. I realized that I am actually capable of doing it without porn or using my imagination, as long as I do it only when my body is ready. So again, I believe context matters at the end of the day. It's not the act of masturbation or sex itself that's sinful, but the context and heart posture when doing it.
Thessalonians 4:4 says, "that every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honor, that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor, that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor". Take that for what you will. I believe you are playing a very dangerous game. And I also find it extremely hard to believe that you are masturbating without having some sort of lustful thought. Even if it's just for a moment and you block it out it is still there. They both go hand in hand. No pun intended. If you continue to do it on a regular basis than I would suggest repenting every single time, and doing your best not to do it again. If you fail then this is obviously common, and why Christ died for our sins. His grace and forgiveness is more powerful then the sin itself. But you should be doing everything in your power and not to do it, instead of making it a practice that you feel is justified by God. You thinking that masturbation was a gift from God for men and women to be able to relieve the built up sexual tension sounds like the devil's work to me. Satan has tricked you.
I'm a Christian and my feeling of being horny before my monthly period make me openly want to learn more why this happening to me. I think understanding more about my body and its sexual urge will help me to navigate not to give in everytime my body want it.
Give in. There's no sin and what do you do expecially when your body goes through so many changes? I remember how I couldn't get satisfied when I was in my early 20s, but once I had my hysterectomy it was like a switch got turned on! I didn't have a boyfriend or husband and was starting to feel I shouldn't be having sex unless I was in a serious relationship. I didn't know it was a sin yet, but Holy Spirit was working on me to change. It's all very confusing. God created us, and He understands us better than we understand ourselves. He just doesn't want us thinking unholy thoughts But He does understand we are human women and men with hormones!
MASTURBATION IS WICKED IN GOD'S SIGHT; STOP IT! HOW ON EARTH HAS NO ONE MENTIONED CORINTHIANS 6:18...SEXUAL IMMORALITY IS SINNING AGAINST YOUR OWN BODY.
It's always about the young. What about a 40+ year marriage where one of the spouse either can't or will not engage in any sexual activit? What does the WORD have to say about that?
Having commented previously, I would like to add this. In my opinion, this is one of the better videos on the topic of masturbation. Although, as I’ve previously mentioned not without some reservation. Interestingly and maybe strangely enough, what really rang true for me is this RUclipsr’s comment on the “brag testimony” of many Christians. How “cool” we were before we came to Christ and repented. I, sadly and unfortunately have been guilty of that and I’ve seen a lot of that in the past in Bible-believing Christian churches. Testimonies are great, as long as they are given in proper perspective, with humility, remorse and joy in the Lord who has delivered us from such darkness and death.
T H A N K Y O U !!! I'm passing this on to my subs. I also subbed. I like your teaching and intend on binge watching all your videos. Bill, from Tn. 🇺🇸
In the case of Onan, he was not masturbating. During sex with he’s wife, he simply pulled out (birth control) instead of giving he’s cease brother’s wife the seed for a child. He was selfish knowing the child wouldn’t be his. He was NOT obedient to he’s father Judah and God by not creating a heir. This has nothing to do with masturbation in the case of Onan in Genesis 38.
Could it also be implied that he was abusing her for his own sexual pleasure? Seems like it wasn't a one time thing with the word "whenever" mentioned there, but he kept doing it. On top of his disobedience to Judah to fulfill the duty, greed to take all his brother's inheritance to himself, trying to cut off Tamar with any ties to the family, and meanwhile taking advantage of her sexually for his own pleasure as well.
In Deuteronomy 25:5-10 God commands men to take their brother's wife if he dies without a child. Any man who refuses to do this would be disobedient to God. The punishment for not doing this is public humiliation, not death. The punishment of death given to Onan was probably for an even greater offense. Also, considering how lawful sex acts are almost always referred to in the bible with less graphic euphemisms such as "to know", the graphic depiction of "spilling seed" shows that this act itself is offensive to God.
@@Svetty00I don’t think spilling one’s seed is offensive to God because a husband having intercourse without the intent of having a baby would be just spilling his seed.
@@only1gumpy941 On what basis do you make this conclusion? The only time the bible talks about someone taking action specifically to prevent pregnancy from intercourse, he is put to death. Nobody else ever mentions not wanting a child. Children are always referred to as gifts and blessings, never something to be avoided.
Masturbation is what? Self gratification? What is a massage? What is sex outside of marriage? If we seek pleasure, things that make us feel good, such as the aforementioned massage or dessert after a meal or going to disney world then why aren't all of those things sinful?
It's a miracle of God that I didn't end up in a mental hospital when I was young. The church I went to had a really negative attitude towards sexuality. In other words, it was discussed from the point of view of sin alone. I was a young man and my hormones were raging. I think masturbation is a human thing. Too bad I was scared to the brink of madness when I was a young sensitive person.
You are absolutely correct! I know this because I had a demon haunting and physically attacking me for almost 20 years from my past sins and Holy Spirit spoke through my mouth and told me I was judgemental a liar and a hypocrite and then I stood up in my drunk room and Father Jehovah spoke to me from Heaven and told me 2 things He said I must humble myself and then He said if I obey no harm would come to me and I have seen harm big time when I didn't obey! But I never got in any trouble for self satisfaction. It's healthy and best stress reliever and it's a lie from the devil because he wants people to get so weak and temper they go out and fornicate, or commit adultery! Don't trust what others tell you, just ask God yourself and He'll answer any questions we have! God bless you 🙏❤️
I stay away from hard core or violent adult videos. When I'm done watching a video I give thanks (in my mind) to the woman for making the video. I treat them with respect (in my mind).
@@stanleyplock1181 You give thanks to the woman who is having sex on camera with someone she likely never even met until producing the video? That's sick brother.
Thank you for a very thought provoking talk about a very confusing topic. What strikes me most is the absence of masturbation in the bible. I do believe it is the heart not the body that makes this a sin. That being said, I'm still a sinner and must trust in God's mercy and patience with me.
Well said. Of all of the hundreds of laws that made up the Law, even things about what material clothes are to be made from, yet nothing about self-stimulation. Its like what - this was never known or it was never done back then, and worse, to even think that God didn't know??? Of course He knew all about it, and if it mattered to any great degree, He would have surely addressed it so. The danger is in the heart and mind as you point out
"I do believe it is the heart not the body that makes this a sin" This can easily motivate a person to will ignorance regarding sinful masturbation which can lead to wiling ignorance in other sinful practices. And for a Christian, unlike Buddhists as one example, we believe the body and soul are One. If you sin from the soul, it affects the body, and if you sin from the body, it affects the soul-no separation, regardless what our intellect tells us. No way around it. This is why Jesus said the path to righteousness is narrow, and the accommodation to ALL sins, mortal and venial, is part of the path offered at that wide neon-lit gate extending across every landscape of human desire for what God has forbidden.
I am not attempting to defend masturbation but I think there’s an argument to be made that Onan was killed because his duty was to continue the blood line of Adam/Abraham. In addition, I don’t think the text is attempting to describe lustful masturbation but to refer to someone having sex and not “finishing the act”. I’m not sure many people would define that as “masturbation”. A good definition of what masturbation is seems to be important in this discussion. Very interesting either way, great video though!
I would tack on that it’s not even about finishing the act because that would imply condom and the withdrawal method would be mortally sinful but more along the lines of leaving a woman without heirs aka leaving her vulnerable. This would keep in line the thought of God not being down with orphans and widows not being cared for. Love both y’all’s channels
I agree. He was not killed for masturbation . He actually had sex and then did not ejaculate into her so she would not get pregnant. To say that spilling seed is wrong and yet all males have nocturnal emissions which is spilled . I am not arguing for masturbation just saying what Oman did was not masturbation
@@xolilemhlanga328 Read Genesis 38: 3 - 10. Onan had an older brother who married a woman, but died before having children. It became the duty of Onan to bear offspring for his brother. Onan had sex with his former sister-in-law, but pulled out so as not to bear offspring, as God had commanded. So he was killed for disobeying God.
I "found" myself at a VERY VERY early age and any male or female for that matter that denies it's a natural act is mistaken. Does it feel good?. Of course. It's a massive relief mechanism. By the grace of God I was prevented from having sex with a VERY willing female in the 7th grade!. Also there was at least two more times that I can remember that I was prevented by Him before making some very stupid mistakes. All that to say that my desire to satisfy myself was really strong at an early age I KNOW I'm was not the only one!. Thanks for addressing this issue!. ❤
@christsavesreadromans1096God created humans with sexual desire, and gave humanity free will. God sees all sin as sin and Christ died for sinners, because we can't perfect ourselves or stop our hormones. Have you overcome all of your sins? If one says he has no sin, he makes God to be lier, for ALL have fallen short of the glory.
Mind had dominion over matter. Jesus says that mental adultery is no different than the physical act. His ministry is not to make the guilty guiltier, but to forgive all manner of sin. He is the Lamb 🐑 Slain that taketh away all sin before the foundation of the lying world. His Perfect sinlessness is imputed to US All by true Faith. By the " bruising" of His heel (the crucifixion) He has bruised the serpent 's head, putting him to death forever ♾️.Amen! But He HimSelf is risen in Glory for evermore, seated and the Right Hand of GOD, making intercession for US All! What is a man's penis but a serpent, and what is the temporal appearance of sex-generated species but a generation of two- and four-legged serpents and vipers, whose mortal bodies are but a vapor, the dust of which shall return to the hole 🕳️ in the ground from whence they seem to have crawled. But the True Being of GOD, Our birthless, deathless timeless formless Spirit, returneth to GOD Who gave It. Sin, then is nothing but serpent induced nonsense.
All flesh is grass. The grass withereth and disappears. All Spirit is Light and Love and Life that shineth forever ♾️☀️.Flesh, blood and bone bodies are temporal illusions, not created by Our Co-creators Who are Spirit, True Thought, Light and Love and Life Eternal and Infinite. In Them We, the Children of Light, Live and Love and have Our Being!
So what about people who can not reproduce because of age or other defect? Or are widowed and still able to function? Many older men, no longer ejaculate but still have orgasm.
yep, the entire mechanics thing is not nearly as simple as it tends to be portrayed. that much I can attest to. nor is sex strictly for reproduction anyhow. not with humans anyway.
Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner. Could it be we don't attain holiness until we are in our heavenly bodies? As humans we live in a fallen world and our righteousness is filthy rags to God. Thank you for your ministry.
@christsavesreadromans1096And holiness includes looking after your body and your emotional health. You should eat well, sleep well, masturbate well, get exercise - both physical and intellectual - and explore your relationship with God - if God exists, and nurture your relationships with others.
Romans 6:10 In-Context 10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. 11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.
I don't think you have to achieve holiness. I think you need to be in a loving relationship with God, be aware that you aren't a perfect human being but accept God's forgiveness when you go wrong. And there is no need to assume that pleasuring your own body is a sin. Why would it be? That's a dumb idea. @christsavesreadromans1096
Thank you for this excellent topic of discussion. Interestingly, every time i need information, i asked God for answers and they always come. I asked for information on this topic and here it is. Thank you.
Wonderful teaching on such a touching topic. One thing that gets on my nerves is teachers, pastors or church leaders (usually are married) that just spew out how evil and sinful it is. Yet do not discuss how 1 out of 3 marriages are now sexless. The divorce rate is through the roof at around 60-70% and 80% of those divorces are initiated by the women, which now makes it, to a high risk to get married. So much for following Gods word in 1 Corinthians 7:9 unless you want to take that 20-40% chance your marriage will survive. Yet the HUGE sex drive that most people have (Gods design), does not go away and can be worse after a divorce. After going through a sexless marriage and my ex cheating on me, I have ZERO desire to ever marry again, but still have a burning desire for Intimacy/sex so I will continue to enjoy pleasure on my own. This is why in my own opinion, its not a sin, along with the fact the Bible is silent on this issue and my Dr. recommends it.
Well said, todays generation can't be compared to Jesus's days. This age is different with completely different ways that people choose to live. God gave freewill and we have rights to make a choice. It's normal to be perfectly imperfect. People believe marriage and love lasts with no change, but thats rare as in your case. People change like seasons, and divorce comes rolling unexpectedly then your heart breaks, to me that's not worth wasting time on. I don't trust my life to anyone for nothing, its just chances to win or lose, I call it relationship gambling. Marriage is not worth the hassle, because genuine love doesn't exist. Everyone loves someone for a benefit, not for who they are. There are fakes and gold diggers out there. Men need to be fed, yet these wives can't cook and don't know how. If a woman can't cook, get ready to spend money on daily basis and for arguments to start, no wonder divorce rate. Christianity has become corrupt also, so much deception its sickening and for single life it makes it difficult as if God doesn't love us anymore, and only option is get married, which for many fails.
Did those teachers and pastors overcome all of their sins, I don't think so. There spewing lies like garden flies, twisting scripture to mean other than what God said, misleading the congregation by sugar coated preaching leading to truth decay!! Stay away from deceiving wolves in sheeps clothing. It is very frusterating and I also don't like lies to affect my Christian walk.
I just had this conversation this morning on what that story ( in re: G38) meant and I said exactly what Dojo said, because a Catholic friend was saying it was a sin to practice this type of birth control with your spouse.
I found it humorous that in a video about masturbation, the discomfort most of us feel about doing it is a big issue. And then getting drunk is brought up and it's no big deal. And yet BOTH of those actions affect the body and can lead to sinful, even dangerous actions. So, it seems to me, that if our body being the temple of the Holy Spirit is the rationale for NOT doing harm to our bodies, then that should apply EQUALLY to getting drunk and indulging in masturbation. And yet people see masturbation as more morally wrong than drinking beer, wine, or cocktails. Somehow that comes across as some kind of double standard. Plus no mention was made of drug usage, something that has become a major problem in the U.S. and is, in MANY ways, more debilitating to the human body than alcohol or masturbation. A bit of deeper explanation is needed.
Oh and masturbation is nothing compared to getting drunk. That is a down right out sin and has nothing to do with health or physical need but just making a fool out of ones self and disrespecting God!
You can't compare debauchery with masturbation! There is nothing in the Bible that says anything about masturbation in the Bible first of all but it does say that no one will enter the Kingdom of God that commits debauchery! God permits self satisfaction as long as we don't have impure thoughts! If you don't believe it Why don't you ask God yourself? He's right here and and not shy to those who truly believe! If you are honestly Born again Christian you will know right away what's ok with God and what's not. But to make up your own laws is not righteous either. You must show proof! God has put everything in the Bible that He feels we need to know!
Very helpful... I've tried all or nothing approaches for most of my life (50 yrs old). If I try stopping completely I relapse completely. When I relapse completly my faith feels non existent. If I attempt to stop for a period of time (just today) and allow my self to break the goal of "just today" with the intention of not leaving my faith I'm more successful. Thinking masterbation is all bad, for me, makes me want to do it more... Embarrasing, but true... Giving myself permission makes it more healthy and allows me to work on healthier ways to go about doing it... Allowing myself to do it, makes me not NEED to do it anywhere near as often as when I would try all or nothing... I wish I had the vocabulary to explain my actions better... I'm in the middle of a deep spiritual battle regarding this topic. It is far beyond casual msterbation... I recently got so desperate that I decided to start reading the Bible (Again... Ephesians for days now). I'm not claiming to have the answers. I'm hanging on by a thread. The good news is that I feel like God still loves me and I keep seeing signs of providence...
Man, if you haven't yet done so, I HIGHLY recommend reading Richard Foster's chapters on sex in his book "The Challenge of the Disciplined Life" (formerly published as "Money, Sex, & Power"). It's an incredibly thoughtful and faithful discussion of what so many are embarrassed to say out loud and there's a reason I include it in the recommended reading in this course!
Why are you trying to stop int the first place? God never expected anyone to suffer every day of their life with their natural hormones! It's enough to be single and not be able to have sex after having it for years as a sinner or married. But this is a natural part of life and our bodies need to release the hormones for stress and sleep anxiety. The devil will put people on a false guilt trip so that they will become so desperate they will go out and fornicate or commit adultery. Be careful of the father of lies! I had a demon for almost 20 years because of my sinful life and Holy Spirit told me my sins judgemental liar and hipocite. I was starting to be convicted of open sex so that wasn't my issue any longer. But after Holy Spirit spoke through my mouth and told me those things, then I stood up and Father Jehovah spoke to me from Heaven and told me I must humble myself and if I obey no harm would come to me. So now id I dare sin the devil will pay me a visit and I've never had any problems from Father about masturbation. But I have had my thoughts run a couple times and right away I would ask forgiveness. But my husband was murdered in 2015 right after we got married so here I was alone again and I know Father doesn't expect us to pull our nails out because we have these natural urges!
It depends if you have pushed God away over it or made it a false idol! If you feel you need relief probably because you are young then you shouldn't be beating yourself up! Just keep your thoughts pure and keep God #1
I think of masturbation as similar to a drug like alcohol or marijuana. All three are not directly condemned in scripture, all three have their benefits in the right context and in moderation, and all three can take over your life if you engage in them without spiritual caution. Each of us must discern for ourselves if we are able to engage in these drugs, because masturbation releases dopamine which is a drug, with great care and in prayer.
@@robertmac7833 Bad point! You’re really getting desperate when you have to use an extreme example like this. Most people don’t get off on shitting. How bout running, scoring a goal, hitting a baseball, eating good food and on and on. Should we stop doing those things? Dont be a fool.
@@Earthtime3978 Well, actually I was thinking more along the lines of peeing. It’s not extreme. It’s analogous in that certain bodily functions require relief after the pressure builds up. You get your relief and the pressure is gone and your fine until the cycle repeats. You know, as they say “Lather, rinse, repeat.” If you have to pee really bad, and your bladder is about to burst, but you stand there doing the pee-pee dance because you think “If I relieve myself, God may get angry and send me to hell!” Most people would say you’re nuts! You gotta go, then go! Take care of yourself. It’s only common sense. But if the pressure is in your prostrate instead of your bladder, all of a sudden you’re SINFUL for taking care of your body’s need. If it’s in the prostrate they say you need to let it build and build, till it’s driving you crazy. Yeah, yeah, I know. Take a cold shower. That’s what the Mormons teach. And lots of medical studies have shown NOT RELEASING REGULARLY can lead to prostrate cancer. Prostrate cancer. Now ain’t that a nice kettle of fish to deal with?
Well-considered and balanced perspective, I appreciate your thoughts. The funny thing about the code of Jewish Law (or any Christian doctrines whose main argument is that of tradition) is that it goes against the will of God in Deuteronomy 4:2 and 12:32, which will circle back around to what God actually condemns (Leviticus 18). So to that I add Acts 15:28-29 which is the Holy Spirit's and Paul's directions toward gentile Christians considering keeping of the Law, and also Romans 14: this is a very personal issue over which people make far too much ado. As far as the people here who have condemned masturbation out of hand, I would point them to Colossians 2:20-23 and Mark 7:1-9. Maybe Matthew 23 too? In your section about Graham, Kellogg, and Baden-Powell, it should also be noted that right around the same time is when the USA began wholesale circumcising infant boys for the same reason: because they thought it would keep boys from masturbating. Well that's worked well, hasn't it??? That puritanical attitude, the wholesale condemnation of a completely natural act has led to the pendulum swinging the opposite way where people who think they are sinning ARE sinning, and then give themselves completely over to perversion. Also why Christians feel so guilty about this so often. I also really think that there has been far FAR too much equating pornography synonymously with masturbation when it really isn't. I don't think it's beneficial to train your body to become aroused looking at all manner of perversions (and let's face it, actual sexual immorality). But I think singles who are preparing for marriage would do well to masturbate in a way that will train them toward being able to better please their spouse. And instead of watching videos or focusing on fantasizing about any particular person, a single Christian can focus on what's happening in their own bodies, the pleasure that God created them to experience, and dream of one day being able to intimately connect with their spouse. Also: invite God to be a part of your sexuality, He created sex and called it Good, and there is no part of your life that He wants to be excluded from, including what you're doing in your bedroom. I like Dobson's perspective, but also that of Clifford & Joyce Penner, who are Christian sex therapists (read something like GETTING YOUR SEX LIFE OFF TO A GREAT START). Never heard of Gary Collins but I need to look into his book.
Note: before I actually watch this video I have had a problem with lust since 5 or 6 when I saw soft core. Unfortunately, around 12 or 13, I was exposed to even more. At 41 now, still single, it is a struggle. So as I watch this video, this is far from me trying to justify a five knuckle shuffle. I am here to have some light edge some of my dark areas
I lost my viginity at the age of NINE ny being curious when plying "doctor." Sex needs to be talk about with kids WAY YOUNGER that pattens think! That's for sure!
I often wonder why I was a virgin when I got married and 25. I was exposed to hard core porn at party when I was nine. It was a party for my dad's work place. The kid took me down stairs in there basement and I thought we were going to play with Hot Wheels. Instead he pulls out this stack of porn magazines and says look at all this cool stuffs I found. I ran out of there and was very frighten. The rest of the evening this kid kept on bullying me when the adults were not around. I think this shaped me more then I realized. Not at 68 I still wack off from time to time because the wife is physically not able to have sex any longer. I wonder if I will still be able to when I am 70? Life is very complex and difficult to travel.
32:39 It is really easy for culture to shame those never married and never having an intimate relationship. (If a man with a second spouse while the first is alive tries to shame someone struggling in this area...well, we'd have some choice words). I do appreciate you mentioning Lev 15:16. It isn't like fornication in a betrothal, adultery, homosexuality or any other sin with capital punishment in those times.
Really the whole chapter of Leviticus 15 needs to be discussed in context, because an emission of semen (through masturbation or nocturnal emission) is seen to be on the same level of bodily processes as diarrhea and menstruation. As in: it will make you unclean for a bit but it's still seen by God as a completely natural biological process. In fact ejaculating only makes a man/boy unclean until nightfall whereas it was a full week for the other two!
These instances in the Bible seem to be heart matters. A matter of duty and expectation vs where the heart was at when the "act" was committed. It always seems to be a matter of heart with God.. heart being lined up as best we can with what we know God has clearly said to do or not to do. I am of the opinion that if is a habit that is causing you to be consumed with lust and ruled by that thing best not to "do" it. Otherwise best to ask the leading of the holy spirit in ones own life if masterbation is or is not wrong for you.
pray and understand the circumcision made without hands faithfully daily as long as necessary . it took over a year for the habit to leave me for good.
Except lust is not sexual fantasy. Look at the greek for lust 😅 It's the same word for desire(good and bad) Epithumeo You now what desire Jesus was saying. Here's the clue Romans 7 7 (kjv) Good ol catholic lies still infect christian theology.
It’s a tough discussion and Christian’s don’t talk about it. You hear sermons for married couples and how sex is a gift from God and so beautiful and how we are created with desires oh but if you’re single and have urges well then your a sinner filled with evil lust that must be suppressed and you’re not blessed with a spouse so you must never even think of sex or have desires because the blessing isn’t for you. The avoidance of talking about these real issues in the church is sending a scolding message to single people. The Bible said it’s actually better to be single when we serve the Lord unless you can’t control Your sexual desires. But what’s the definition of “control”? Does control Mean you never have natural urges that you were created with? Does control Mean you do the M word just to relieve yourself and not as an addiction? Does control mean you aren’t sleeping around ? There just is no real guidance in the Bible and our churches give us single people absolutely zero to go on - which as for me - leaves me walking in guilt and shame for how my body naturally is created and its natural to have desires. I think only Someone dead would have NO desire. Anyway I’m still a bit confused on the topic after watching this but have a little idea of what you’re trying to say. Thank you for being one of the few to actually address this hidden torture for single people and it really is - it’s a silent hidden torture and we have no one to talk to about it
As a man, I would say it’s near impossible to masturbate without seeing or thinking of sex. If you’re thinking that way about someone who is not your wife, you’re sinning. Yes you have natural urges, but there are God ordained and honoring ways to satisfy them and ways to satisfy them against Gods will. When it comes to sexual urges, we are to hear our cross and be holy as He is holy and resist and reserve these urges to be satisfied in holy matrimony.
I'll never get married. I was a homosexual before I was saved 7 years ago(I'm 40 now) . And while I am not gay anymore, I just know it would not work out with a woman and me... So I choose singleness. But urgggggggg the body was created with natural desires and then I just live feeling condemned about it
@@markwhite5926 yep although I’d love to be in a relationship with a man I’ve been so traumatized by them I’m not sure I could - but at the same time - the body has a mind of its own. We can’t fee l guilt about it. God created us to be in a relationship and he blessed the man and woman unity. But the clincher is - it must be according to HIS plans - not our selfish plans. God has a perfect person for us and if not, he is our perfect God who provides all we need. We prayer and give him our desires and we may give in from time to time like we could a sneeze. Haha something’s are just there but we must refrain from perversion or things that are in godly. Praying for you friend. Singleness is tough but relationships are also tough. But we have God to guide us through this life
Very interesting discussion. One thing I heard from someone else was regarding the verse that Jesus talks about lust in his heart he’s committed adultery in his heart. Adultery deals with marriage. Maybe this is teaching not to lust after someone that is married. This is almost a coveting issue?
Potentially, Matthew 5:27-28 is ENTIRELY about coveting another man's wife. Looking at the Greek word which is translated as "Lust" and then looking at which Greek word is used in the Septuagint in Exodus 20 to convey the Hebrew for "Covet," you will see that they are in fact one in the same word.
Man! Those last two quotes at the end are powerful. My wife and I have been discussing how we might introduce this topic to our growing children if/when we have kids in the future.
It's not a sin for anything you do with your spouse in bed as long as there's no perversion in it. Masturbation isn't a sin either as long as you can keep your thoughts clean and pure That goes for all the time! God bless 🙏❣️
Be open and don't be shy and hold anything back! That's why the Americans can't talk to their children because they have been conditioned to this for generations and it's important to teach your children about how they can be good lovers for their spouses as well. Mothers with daughters and father's with sons If the father's don't know what to tell the son then just ask the wife She will definitely know the answers!
Talk to them as its a fact of life, throughout their upbringing, because it is and kids forget easily. Let them roll their eyes and just smile. At least you know your getting them squared away. If you don’t they’ll learn regardless. Make it a healthy teaching. The world will completely corrupt.
As I heard elsewhere it's a particularly difficult teaching to accept from people teaching it if they are married when you are not and have no hope you ever will be.
A couple observations: The Bible says it’s better to marry than to burn with lust. It also says that in marriage, a man and woman can abstain sexually for a time to give themselves to prayer, but then they must engage again so they don’t get tempted. The Bible also says that in marriage the man and woman each control the frequency of the other. All that to say this: If it’s better to marry than to burn with sexual desire, then it would seem to preclude self stimulation as a normal outlet. Any observations to the contrary?
Yeah, but as anyone in a sexless marriage can tell you, what the Bible says SHOULD happen and what actually happens are 2 different things. So what then? Your choices are few...porn/masturbation, or adultery. Take your pick.
@@klamb9they way they come of as a husband when he’s ready for sex he can make her have sex when she’s not willing. Vice versa a man not wanting it she can make her husband have sex I mean marriage is not a licensed sex
that's easy for you to say. maybe you just don't have a sex drive. imagine someone who does. oh never mind, you might not really relate that well to other people in the first place.
@@tracyavent-costanza346 I agree with what you are saying. I don't believe masturbation is a sin as long as you're not looking at pornography while masturbating, as long as you're not masturbating in public, and as long as you don't masturbate too much. Philippians 4:8 tells us to fill our minds with things that are pure, wholesome, and of good report, and when a person is looking at pornography, they're not filling their minds with things that are pure, wholesome, and of good report. It's a sin to masturbate in public because it's illegal to masturbate in public, and Romans 13 tells us to obey the laws. Masturbating too much is a sin because the Bible mentions how overdoing something, addictions, etc are sins. Masturbating to deal with urges you have to help prevent you from engaging in premarital sex, adultery, threesomes, orgies, etc is not a sin. A lot of people use the lust argument to prove that masturbation is a sin since Matthew 5:28 says "Whoever looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery in his heart". It's important to remember that lust doesn't not mean the same thing as daydreaming, thinking sexual thoughts, fantasizing, etc. Lust means the same thing as covet. Lust means planning, intending, attempting, etc. The Greek word for lust in Matthew 5:28 means planning, coveting, intending, attempting, etc; not fantasizing, daydreaming, thinking sexual thoughts, etc. The Greek word for woman in Matthew 5:28 is ginh, which means a woman that's not your spouse if you are married or a woman who isn't your spouse if you are married; not women in the general sense. The definition of adultery is when a married person engages in physical intimacy with someone that isn't their spouse or when a single person engages in physical intimacy with someone who is married. It's not considered adultery when 2 single people have sex. It's fornication when 2 unmarried people have sex, but it's not adultery. When the Bible says "Whoever looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery in his heart", it means that planning or attempting to commit adultery, a married man going out on dates with women that aren't his spouse that he has crushes on, a married man making hotel reservations with women that aren't his spouse, etc is just as bad as actually committing adultery just like in God's eyes attempted murder is just as bad as actually committing murder. Another argument I hear as to why masturbation is a sin is how the thoughts people think about while masturbating are sinful, and it's impossible to masturbate without having sinful thoughts in your mind. The problem with an argument like that is God gave humans a sex drive that causes them to have sexual urges, sexual thoughts, etc. It's not a sin to have sexual thoughts, think sexual thoughts in your mind, have sexual urges, etc. If it's not a sin to have sexual thoughts, think sexual thoughts in your mind, etc, it means that masturbating and thinking sexual thoughts in your mind while masturbating is not a sin. I hear the argument how masturbating is a sin because the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 how your body is a temple of God. When the Bible says how your body is a temple of God, that means that people shouldn't do anything to damage or destroy their bodies. If masturbating damages or destroys someone's body, it would mean that masturbating is a sin, but there's no evidence that masturbating damages or destroys a person's body. There's no evidence masturbation causes health problems. If masturbating caused health problems, it would be a sin to masturbate, but there's no evidence masturbation causes health problems. Some people use the argument how masturbating is a sin because the Bible says that sex outside of marriage is a sin, and when someone is masturbating and single, it's sex outside of marriage, and when a married person is masturbating, they're having sex with someone that isn't their spouse. The problem with an argument like that is sex implies 2 people, more than 1 person, etc. Masturbating is not sex. Masturbating is not considered sex. People don't lose their virginity by masturbating. When the Bible says don't engage in fleshly sinful behavior, it doesn't mean it's a sin to do things that feel good; it means it's a sin to engage in sinful behavior that feels good. Doing things that feel good that aren't sinful isn't a sin, but doing things that feel good that are sins are considered sins. Fleshly sinful behavior means sinful behavior that feels good. I believe masturbation is a great self control method that helps prevent people from engaging in sinful sexual behavior such as premarital sex, adultery, threesomes, orgies, prostitution, etc. Masturbating helps people deal with sexual urges in healthy ways just like punching punching bags and lifting weights help people deal with anger with healthy ways. Masturbating can help prevent someone from acting like a pervert. When a guy is in a relationship with a girl and the girl wants to wait until marriage for sex while the guy wants to have sex now, masturbating can help the guy be more patient and understanding.
My urologist told me years ago that one thing that helps with the problem of having a swollen prostate is that "once in a while, I would need to clean out the ol' pipes" since I've been single for 15 years. So, let's just say I have a healthy prostate.
You are very wrong. What happens in puberty and also when you get older and your system works very well. Your body will still function the same. The urologist told me the reason I had extreme pain and other problems ie infection is because my system was not doing what is was made to do. God created sex he told to go forth and multiply. If we abstain we do not have children
@ 11:10 where you are talking about Genesis 38:1. They were not talking about masturbation that was a completely different circumstance. It had to do with having sex and not putting the seed inside. They had laws concerning what was supposed to be done when someone dies and they have a mate left behind and no children were ever born to the male.
@22:10 how amusing that there was also a CITY called "ur" which is one of the oldest known of the mid stone-age. that city of course "was not jewish" so maybe that is why the god of the jews supposedly "killed" it. I do not happen to know if the other names are also PLACES but it might be worth a look. Maybe this "leviticus" passage is not actually about whatever the tanakh editors claimed it was. Never mind that "judah" is also not only a PLACE but also refers to jews generically. for example "judah ben hur" is " a jewish son of hur" (and that latter name probably translates as something specific in hebrew but I'm not up on it.
I can't find the link to the course To know and Be Known. Can someone please send me the link? You dealt with this subject very well, thank you, I want to pass it on to my sons.
An excellent discussion on an important topic. Speaking from experience I say that its far better to take care of yourself inside your head and then go on to other things than it is to get involved with someone in your bed. Instead. Fred.
It's like saying taking a crap is a sin. As if humans don't have enough to deal with without tormenting themselves with guilt over an act babies and toddlers perform without even bring aware they are doing it. That's how natural and harmless it is.
Our parents desires. Some wants a family and some sinned. We just grow into our own person to decide what we should do. How will you carry yourself or will you let God carry you?
The Egyptian take on masturbation clarifies a point I was curious about: When we create a sex partner in our imagination, is that not a thought-form? We create an image, put life force into it, enjoy the experience, then abandon the "being" we have created. I doubt that it just waits around for our delicious attention to return to it. It is hungry for a repeat performance and zooms in on a new human partner. This is a very low form of black magic and might be what have been called incubi and succubi.
Well yes. "Self-Love" is exactly that....SELF LOVE. God designed love to be shared between committed and married couples and not just kept to one's self. When married men take "self-love" to extremes, they often dissipate themselves and are then unable to please their wives. And not only that, but what are you fantasizing about when you are practicing self-love? Is is your marriage partner of someone else? Remember that Jesus said that one who lusts over a prostitute or someone else's wife, has "already done it in their heart" . Matt 5:28.
This is certainly one way to approach the subject. Just beware of going beyond what Scripture actually says and be charitable in areas where one must reason from the text to a modern application of the principles found within the text. As for Matthew 5, we discuss that specifically in this video here on the channel in our "To Know and Be Known" playlist: ruclips.net/video/QpOqEid3fxU/видео.html
Heb uw naaste lief als je zelf, en film vrouwen zijn geen echte vrouwen,ik denk dat masturbatie een beveiliging is kunnen vrouwen veilig over de straat lopen, en hoeven ze niet zoveel kinderen te krijgen,
it wasn't a conversation it was a lecture. not a horrible one, but not two-way in the slightest. this is us, after the fact trying to make it what it was not.
LoL, I have never heard of someone thinking about hiking or swimming to the point of organism. So I don't think we can separate the action and the lust. It at least makes me unclean until evening. I think this is why it says to: "wash your hands you sinners" (I can't prove that) also where it says to "hate even the garments spotted by the flesh" (again I can't prove it). I have NEVER had a Spirit led day when I Masturbated that same day. I find personally, either that or drinking almost guarantee me staying in the flesh that whole day. Thank you for being bold enough to teach on such a tough issue!!
YEA GODS GOING TO PUT IT IN OUR DNA AND THEN SEND US TO HELL.thats the most ridiculous thing Iv ever heard. We have to think pple.Who wrote the bible?MAN WROTE THE bible. This is bullsht. If this were true we are all in trouble. The sin is making a child thats going into puberty think it's some kinda deep unforgivable sin.Bla bla bla.
Once heard a pastor compare Masturbation to Snacking. He said, just as having a meal is only reserved for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so too is sex only reserved for marriage. But sometimes we get a little hungry in between meals. So, what do we do. You can either tell your tummy to wait. And while that may work for some people, for others it may not be that easy. Some may have health issues and need some sort of nutrition right away. Others may become grouchy on an empty stomach. And then some may have missed a meal or hadn’t had enough to eat. So the best alternative is to have a healthy snack. Just don’t eat too much, don’t eat junk food, and don’t do it all the time. In the same way, masturbation is a way to relieve your sexual desires when you’re not married, as long as you don’t do it too much, all the time, and have the wrong thoughts in your head.
@@williamburns3823 That is a bad comparison. There is maybe 1 out of a billion men who do not think of people they aren't married to lustfully when masturbating. You cannot tell me the only thing that then makes masturbation sinful is doing that too much, but doing that a little is just fine. There doesn't seem to be a biblical justification for that conclusion.
I think this verse is relevant to those who are married. 1 Corinthians 7:5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency. But perhaps in the case of a single person or a widow/widower this would not apply thus making masturbation ok.
Consider an older man...perhaps his wife died, and he has no clear options for getting another one anytime soon. Now he’s in a twixt. He knows that regular release is healthy, and he knows that the urge to release the built-up pressure regularly is a sign of a healthy body. It’s a sign of vigor and health. Virility is the crowning jewel of his youth, and maybe he doesn’t want to see it just die, and for good reason. What could be sadder than waning desire, also known as obsolagnium. But if the regular urge ceases or slows down, his mind may be filled with worry and he may begin to worry “What is happening with my body? Where’s my masculinity? Am I losing it?” Those thoughts can be quite traumatic! But what is he going to do? He realizes that like anything in life, if you don’t use it, you lose it! But he CAN’T “use it.” because he doesn’t have a female. So he’s caught between two worlds! He only has one option left, let’s call it “routine maintenance.” and for that he is condemned or shamed by the church, and called a sinner for DARING to get himself some relief! He is told by the Pharisees of our day that he is full of lust and he will go to hell for that! And again, the other option for the poor guy is to just sadly and slowly let it DIE, to leave him only half a man, a shell of the former, virile self he used to be. Not all have that grace from the LORD to live like that. I’m sure some do, but certainly not all. Christ was very clear in the scriptures that not ALL can be eunuchs
Used to freak me out trying to mention it when I was a teenager. But nowadays I see it as a totally normal subject, most of us have done it, and most of us struggle with the embarrassment of it. If you do it or have cravings it means that your body is operating fine, but run from the sin of having sex before marriage with other people, especially homosexuality.
Masturbation is a very strange topic. When I was in the Navy, that topic was mentioned more than “just a few times”. The opinion varied. Some assumed that up to 98% do it. One gave that number a full 100%. “If you do it will in private, that’s cool.” “If you tell anyone that you did it, that’s cool.” But “if you are caught doing it, that’s not cool at all!” Stand by for an avalanche of ridicule if you are ever caught doing it!
It's not about man catching you, it's about God sees everything we do! But I will tell you that everything is BC if you believe everything you hear and believe it. It's not a sin unless you are lusting for someone who is not your spouse or id you become addicted to it and it becomes a false idol! Anything can become a false idol if you are in love with it more then God. People are going way over board these days. I know the truth because Father God has spoken to me from Heaven and told me what I have to do and not do and told me if I obey no harm would come to me. I had a demon haunting and physically attacking me for almost 20 years so I don't dare disobey God. And I would have known by now if He didn't like me self satisfying myself. God doesn't want anyone getting desperate and commiting fornication or adultery. And masturbation is very healthy for the heart and natural stress reliever and releases hormones and dopamine and toxins in the body. Don't believe everything you hear from people. God bless you 🙏❤
Why would it be strange? It's a natural part of life! It's only strange to people who are immature. If you want to say something is strange, just look around at the world now? That's strange!
@17:40 yeah, the insane asylum thing. 1) how do we KNOW that inmate/patients masturbate more than anyone else. 2) the data are skewed since THOSE PATIENTS are available to observe and the rest of society isn't 3) One thing I would be interested in observing is whether there is that much diff between male and female inmate behavior. but that is perhaps a tangential subject. 4) that alleged behavior is not limited to "insanity" if "the world according to garp" is any alternative example. In which Jenny Garp's partner was injured but not insane.
I teach my students that there is no sin in masturbating but there is a problem with pornography and allowing your mind to lust after a woman. I prohibit anyone to enter into a holy bedroom and make prohibitions on what a married couple do or share within themselves. There are laws given by God and not traditional prohibitions that can guide believers without having anyone tell them what is and not allowed to do. Enjoy the woman of your youth means exactly that, enjoy everything about her. I love to refer you to the book of Songs.
Thank you for talking about this openly, honestly, and truthfully. Like a lot of things, masturbation can be abused or cause addiction and I used to fall into that. But on the flip side, I've used masturbation with my wife to develop my relationship and prepare for our marriage together. It really is about the heart and mind behind it.
What about born again Christians like myself who don't have a husband anymore and it's not very easy to just go out there and grab another born again Christian man who deeply loves God! Furthermore Father God will give you someone if he wants you to have someone! He will also tell you what you need to know in person if you truly believe and search Him with all your heart soul mind and strength! Most believers don't know this but God is right here and He's not shy whatsoever! He will tell you everything you need to know straight up before He would let you fall into sin! God bless you and your family!
@12:07 yeah that thing about "go forth and multiply". now we have about 8 billion humans on this rock. We have DONE the "multiply" thing. We no longer need 15 kids to provide cheap labor. we have machines and power sources that can do most of that previously-tedious-and-life-draining repetitious work. Additional children can be a burden upon the larger society when they are not even adequately provided for, by their forebears. We no longer live in an agronomy but rather in a post-industrial economy where mostly people do not GROW FOOD nor MAKE OBJECTS for sustenance. Instead we provide INFORMATION to one another, which vastly magnifies the potential VALUE of the food and the objects and the land which grows them. Most farming is large scale and mechanized which also tends to produce drastically more product volume than in the past. And their produce can reach a vastly larger consumer-base than it could in the past. We can make drastically better USE of the food and the other products. and with dense populations, humans have to learn to get along with one another, even if with members of other tribes. what a concept.
"Wife of the First born dies" you got that wrong! First Born dies without a child, brother goes into wife of First Born to produce a child to carry on... my wayward child, the'ry be peace when you are done, lay your weary head to rest, don't ya cry no more. Guitar kicks in....
What if the hubby doesn't want a sexually intimate relatipnship anymore.? And what if you do it just to relieve the tension once every couple of months, no other person comes to your thoughts. ?
I honestly never felt something in my soul telling me this. If it's not done compulsively or obsessively, I don't think it's sin. The sex drive is strong. You want marriage but it's not here yet. Someone tell me how you make that horny feeling leave? Better to relieve the tension than fornicate.
My preacher said it's a natural thing for a boy-teen to do to learn about themselves. Later in life God has given it as a way to escape sinning and not doing it with someone they are not married to. It's what your goal is while you do it.
18:33 I have to disagree: I believe Jesus addresses it in Matthew 5, discussing lustful thoughts, saying, "if your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off". He never changed the topic from "lustful thoughts", so it's obvious what He's addressing with "right hand" when you're thinking lustful thoughts. When I was first saved, I loved God, so I did not do this any more. I had a lot happen after, though, and I ended up in the sin again, but God showed me a way out by grace through faith alone! It really is a sin, and we must get victory! "If by the Spirit you mortify the deeds of the flesh you will live." Ro 8:12,13. People feel condemned for a reason--it is a sin, and they know it, and the conscience testifies against them. They are not walking by faith, so they cannot but give in to the temptation--DO NOT tell them to brush the condemnation away! That is good and true testimony! By GRACE ALONE they can conquer!
That would mean that people who do it with their *left* hand aren't sinning though. "Right hand" in Scripture has a much wider meaning than any one specific action. It is eisegesis to limit it to maturation simply because *we* naturally associate that action with one's "right hand."
@@DiscipleDojo Obviously, I didn't think Jesus meant literally "right hand", but that there is an action which one does when thinking lustfully. The issue isn't "right" or "left" hand. The good news, nevertheless, is that this sin is easily mortified by grace through faith. I've experienced it. I have been free from even the thoughts of pornography for over a decade--by grace through faith alone.
@@DiscipleDojo If I had to struggle, I'd lose. Grace through faith wins the battle, extinguishing the fiery darts of the evil one. So we are "more than conquerors" in Christ!
@@DiscipleDojo not only that, but considering there would be no paragraphs in the original Greek text, concluding automatically that Jesus is still addressing the same issue because it's in the same paragraph is erroneous. Paragraphs groupings potentially add doctrinal bias into the translation process: look at Ephesians 5:21 being excluded from the passage about Wives and Husbands, and instead tacked onto the end of the preceding paragraph. Not in all translations, but certainly the MEV and NIV which are currently in front of me. It's well and good to say "I believe the Bible literally," but when that means "I believe a TRANSLATION of the Bible literally," without putting into any thought or further study...
When my grandson was little like a lot of little boys do, they even wonder what that is. He did it a lot and i didn't want to teach him that it is wrong for touching it. I finally figured out what i could do. I told him if he wants to do that to go into the other room. There was no way i was going to yell at him and tell him it was wrong. I find that temptation is much easier to resist when my heart is right with God. Instead of focusing on controlling our behavior, we should focus on surrendering our hearts to the One who loves us perfectly.

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.

This sin broke up my 17-year marriage and that was 20+ years ago so you can imagine how shrouded the subject was!

bibilical study has nothing useful to say about it.
Important topic?!!! Really?? It's astonishing...

LOLOLOLOLOLLOLOLOLOLOL!!!

Although, as I’ve previously mentioned not without some reservation. Interestingly and maybe strangely enough, what really rang true for me is this RUclipsr’s comment on the “brag testimony” of many Christians. How “cool” we were before we came to Christ and repented.
Yes, that is what I tried to highlight in the video. :)

Everyone is a sinner
The danger is in the heart and mind as you point out
"I do believe it is the heart not the body that makes this a sin"
This can easily motivate a person to will ignorance regarding sinful masturbation which can lead to wiling ignorance in other sinful practices.
Wrong, after you God saves you, you are no longer a sinner
Try masturbating without Fantasizing sinfully.
Yeah, the Onan passage has nothing to do with self-stimulation at all.

Romans 6:10 In-Context
10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. 11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.

Good for you. Its perfectly natural. Enjoy.
Thank you for this teaching. Very applicable and honest. Appreciate you. Blessings!
Thanks for teaching on this subject matter in the Word of God!🙏🏽
nobody knows what the word of god is.
Thank You God for everything Amen 🙏❤️
@@DiscipleDojo Thanks for the reply, I ordered a used copy of the book :)
All sin can be forgivin, but it also effects other areas of your life! Confess and move on, think of good things in the place of lust! It's a choice!

How so? Is it like a pair of socks where one size fits all???
Dopamine gets released in other ways too. Should we stop all pleasurable things?

Good point!
Going to the bathroom also serves to RELIEVE built up PRESSURE inside a man. Should we stop going to the bathroom?
@@robertmac7833 Bad point! You’re really getting desperate when you have to use an extreme example like this. Most people don’t get off on shitting.
How bout running, scoring a goal, hitting a baseball, eating good food and on and on.
Should we stop doing those things? Dont be a fool.
@@Earthtime3978
Well, actually I was thinking more along the lines of peeing. It’s not extreme. It’s analogous in that certain bodily functions require relief after the pressure builds up. You get your relief and the pressure is gone and your fine until the cycle repeats. You know, as they say “Lather, rinse, repeat.”
If you have to pee really bad, and your bladder is about to burst, but you stand there doing the pee-pee dance because you think “If I relieve myself, God may get angry and send me to hell!”
Most people would say you’re nuts!
Note: before I actually watch this video
I have had a problem with lust since 5 or 6 when I saw soft core. Unfortunately, around 12 or 13, I was exposed to even more.
At 41 now, still single, it is a struggle. So as I watch this video, this is far from me trying to justify a five knuckle shuffle. I am here to have some light edge some of my dark areas
44 myself and never married. I feel ya, man.
Jacking off is a sin
Same question to you. Do still masturbate? Do you feel guilt after? Thank you for the honesty
In the name of Jesus Christ, everyone please stop commiting the sin of lust!!! Amen!!!🙏🙏🙏

Since Jesus does not have sex or masturbation, then his sperm ended no where, full loaded of expired rotten semen!
I’M SO GLAD SOMEONE FINALLY SAID THIS!!!

Except lust is not sexual fantasy.
Look at the greek for lust
😅
It's the same word for desire(good and bad)
Epithumeo
You now what desire Jesus was saying.
Here's the clue
Romans 7 7 (kjv)
Good ol catholic lies still infect christian theology.
Does control
Mean you never have natural urges that you were created with? Does control
Mean you do the M word just to relieve yourself and not as an addiction? Does control mean you aren’t sleeping around ? There just is no real guidance in the Bible and our churches give us single people absolutely zero to go on - which as for me - leaves me walking in guilt and shame for how my body naturally is created and its natural to have desires. I think only
Someone dead would have NO desire. Anyway I’m still a bit confused on the topic after watching this but have a little idea of what you’re trying to say. Thank you for being one of the few to actually address this hidden torture for single people and it really is - it’s a silent hidden torture and we have no one to talk to about it
I completely empathise with what you said, I was unmarried until i was 40 and struggled with that issue as you do.
I have noticed this video seems to have attracted more views than some others lol great title btw.
Beautifully put. Truly edifying and well received.
Winkie Pratney addressed the issue in his book, “Youth Aflame” which was a great handbook for young Christians.
That name sounds like a British euphemism for the subject of this video. 😅
He said,"hand- book"!!😂

What do you think a man is thinking about when masturbating?
I agree 100%.
Same for men.
The spirit wars against the flesh, and the flesh against the spirit. It's like we are in a "prison suit" and shouldn't be here. Whose fault is this?
Our parents desires. Some wants a family and some sinned. We just grow into our own person to decide what we should do. How will you carry yourself or will you let God carry you?
Well done. Excellent teaching

LoL, I have never heard of someone thinking about hiking or swimming to the point of organism. So I don't think we can separate the action and the lust. It at least makes me unclean until evening. What about if you are past child bearing age?
Try to masturbate without having the wrong thoughts in your head.
Try to masturbate without having the wrong thoughts in your head, that my friend is impossible

@@williamburns3823 That is a bad comparison. There is maybe 1 out of a billion men who do not think of people they aren't married to lustfully when masturbating. There doesn't seem to be a biblical justification for that conclusion.

I would expect his thoughts would be toward his late wife and memories at the time. Seems like fidelity to me.
“If you do it will in private, that’s cool.”
“If you tell anyone that you did it, that’s cool.”
But “if you are caught doing it, that’s not cool at all!”
Stand by for an avalanche of ridicule if you are ever caught doing it!
@17:40
yeah, the insane asylum thing.
1) how do we KNOW that inmate/patients masturbate more than anyone else.
2) the data are skewed since THOSE PATIENTS are available to observe and the rest
of society isn't
3) One thing I would be interested in observing is whether there is that much diff
between male and female inmate behavior. but that is perhaps a tangential subject.
4) that alleged behavior is not limited to "insanity" if "the world according to garp" is
any alternative example. In which Jenny Garp's partner was injured but not insane.
I would like to join the Grownups Table but do not have a Facebook account and do not want one. Is there any other way to join?
Unfortunately not. It is a Facebook-based group.
Wow-super clear and insightful Bible teacher
Great!
i been doing it since 4 yrs old an im 62 an still do
Thank you for talking about this openly, honestly, and truthfully.
God bless you and your family!

yeah that thing about "go forth and multiply".
now we have about 8 billion humans on this rock. We have DONE the "multiply" thing.
We no longer need 15 kids to provide cheap labor. we have machines and power sources
that can do most of that previously-tedious-and-life-draining repetitious work.
Additional children can be a burden upon the larger society when they are not even adequately
provided for, by their forebears. We no longer live in an agronomy but rather in a post-industrial
economy where mostly people do not GROW FOOD nor MAKE OBJECTS for sustenance.
Instead
we provide INFORMATION to one another, which vastly magnifies the potential VALUE of the food
and the objects and the land which grows them. Most farming is large scale and mechanized which
also tends to produce drastically more product volume than in the past. And their produce can reach
a vastly larger consumer-base than it could in the past. We can make drastically better USE of the
food and the other products.
and with dense populations, humans have to learn to get along with one another, even if with members
of other tribes.
what a concept.
"Wife of the First born dies" you got that wrong! First Born dies without a child, brother goes into wife of First Born to produce a child to carry on... my wayward child, the'ry be peace when you are done, lay your weary head to rest, don't ya cry no more. Guitar kicks in....
Agreed, I think he just misspoke there
What if the hubby doesn't want a sexually intimate relatipnship anymore.? And what if you do it just to relieve the tension once every couple of months, no other person comes to your thoughts. ?
Something in our soul tells us masterbation is sexually immoral. It's too fine of a line to walk that's its better not to do it.
Why are you trying to force your opinion on other? Your statement is pointless.
@@patricj951 I'm not forcing my opinion on anybody. I'm not the one people will need to answer to.
I disagree.
@@danilaroche1156 within your right
I honestly never felt something in my soul telling me this.
Disagree. It’s lust based. They can release through nocturnal emissions. Best not to do! Keep thoughts clean.
I imagine if you cut off your hand today went to the er you might get elated into an institution.
I was brought up as a catholic so imagine teaching him it was wrong. I am the grandma and wanted him to have a different outlook on it. He was only 2 or 3 and i have to admit he did go into the room everytime he felt the urge and i never said a word. He'd come back in another minute or two. He was just curious.
