@DommyBoy Smith I think most people have a hammer drill, well those that do handyman work, a bunch of holes around the block should get it pretty weak I bet.
His ability to just work on this house makes my day. There is no underlying anything, nothing sad or political just a man, tools and what will be a beautiful home.

As a therapist of over forty years and a person who likes to work with my hands, I would suggest that your style of doing as you feel is correct and a lifestyle that works for you, your wife and family is what quality of life is all about. Honesty in a relationship, internal integrity, and liking the results at the end of the job (some days are not especially fulfilling), these are what a lifestyle are all about. What works for you is yours. Each of us have to find our way and those who inspire us along that way. Keep it up.

Thanks for making these fantastic videos with generalized instruction and relatable insight. You really lit a fire under me. I bought your ebook and recently purchased my first cheap POS (cheap relative to West Coast prices). The house has some termite damage, a failed roof, and decades of hoarded moldy garbage. Nevertheless, I am excited about the repairs I am performing and the future this house renovation will lead to. Thanks for spreading a message of positivity and fulfillment through hard work and perseverance.
When I was a teenager, I used to work on houses with my late step-father. He never had a formal education in carpenting or any of the sort, he learned everything by doing it. Now he learned most of his stuff in the 80s and 90s where most information was harder to reach than now. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it and you really enjoy what you are doing.

You've made DIY a true reality for me, specially for things I normally would consider to be outside of my comfort zone. You are pretty awesome in your videos and I cannot even begin to tally up how many things I've learned by just watching YOU do it! You empower everyday Americans like me. Just bought your book. I doubt I have ever commented on your channel but it provoked a lot of thought, esp. the final scene with the concrete pillar: 1. When I was a little girl in the 1940's I remember my uncles collecting hickory nuts from a tree in the pasture. They used a sledge hammer to crack open those nuts on a concrete table. They were so hard! The nut meats inside were delicious and my grandma would use the nuts in a special cake she baked. The battle they fought to crack the nuts was worth it! (chuckle) 2. Yours is one of my favorite youtube vids as I deem them higher quality than most. I do believe the music enhances the quality of any video so I am glad you will continue including the music. I am surprised that so much good music is royalty-free but I hear a variety on other videos, too. 3. I do hold my breath here and there when you are making "gymnastic" moves to reach high places above an abyss below. I suppose it's my mother/grandmother instincts so I won't fuss at you (much}. I can't help but wonder when I don't see a video for awhile if you may have fallen. OUCH! Please be careful!
It is such a joy to watch a craftsman at work, yes he's brilliant with furniture but what gets me every time, is the clever ways he sorts out the problems uncovered during house renovations.

When I bought my place, the original owner refused the offer to replace his existing wood fence with block which the new, surrounding houses received. He then sold the wood panels leaving a post every 10'. I have 3 houses across the back, 180' plus the sides so maybe 30 fence posts set in concrete. Some broke up easy, many didn't.
