Just saying, they wanted to tie Darren down without risk of losing him to other projects.

If they think he's so swell and they had loads of "great" material they wanted to write for him, then why would they ask him to return only as some kind of probationary guest star? That really makes no sense. It seems like they just decided to get rid of him all willy-nilly and are now attempting to deflect any potential fan backlash by laying the blame solely on him.
From Zach's response I can infer that Cameron did not win. He said that people are going to like the winner once they are on the screen which leads me to believe that the winner is not someone who is popular with the fans. Base off of this, I think Samuel has a good shot of winning. Even though I don't really like him. Just a thought. But I really hope Cameron still goes on the show b/c his fan-base is so large and there would be a riot if he isn't on the show.
I always thought that "Sam not coming back thing" was kind of shady. They said Harry and Darren earned becoming regulars, but Chord refused to come back when they didn't make him one. Harry and Darren did earn it, but I always thought it was unfair because they actually used Sam as a regular in S2! He was not in the background. He was a bigger part of season 2 than main characters like Mercedes and Tina.
Glee is my life and Im obsessed with the cast, but Harry can't even sing... which takes away from his character, I wonder why we'll be meeting his parents too? Can't wait for season three

@majamarie89 THANK-YOU i literally agree with every single word you've said, all they said for Matt was like "he transferred" its pathetic not that I liked Matt all that much but seriously the script writing is sometimes so wobbly. And mercedes as well, for 2 summers she had no one and then suddenly she finds herself in two relationships. Seriously do they really think their being realistic?

@majamarie89 - It's awkward. But if they already had a Mercedes story-arc written for the first half of the season than I'd prefer they continue it without Sam than just ditch Mercedes altogether. She's been itching for a storyline for so long that she deserves to get it even if one half of the actors featured in the arc isn't present (although I do admit I'd prefer her arc to not be relationship related at all, but that's a personal preference and I know a lot of people wanted her with a bf)

@itsmoky I don't see how Criss has "earned" a promotion any more than Overstreet. Neither are particularly good actors, so they haven't earned anything based on merit. And Overstreet actually has seniority by about five episodes, so it can't be based on that. The only thing I can figure is that it's based on popularity. Many Glee fangirls have an unhealthy obsession with Darren Baggins, er, Criss. I guess Trouty Mouth is too normal human sized to tickle their fancy.
