Have you met the rest of his crew? They would not have been asked to join if he had trust issues.
Well most of the Worst Generation respect/allied with Luffy like Bege, Kid, Law & future someone if you know what I mean. So that’s why Luffy accept X Drake

All things aside. Luffy and X Drake catching bodies made me laugh. Those numbers never got back up. Not when Kazenbo was burning through the floors or when Jinbe shoulder tossed Raizo's water release.
Even though Luffy's crew are Absolutely against trusting Drake in the Pirates Alliance, Luffy himself just can't refuse a Friendly Rival.

The marines and the world govt can officially say they have no jurisdiction over that individual. He acted without consent or orders. He is a rouge element.
like Coby going off on his own to rescue civilians without authorization. If he fails. The marines wash their hands of him. If he succeeds he gets a talking to but his reputation is good for the marines.

Today I learned that Drake uses X. for his pirate surname because it's the roman numeral for 10, Oda says it's supposed pronounced as "diez" (as in 10 in spanish), and Drake's father's actual surname WAS Diez. So no matter if it's his real name or his undercover alias: he's "Diez Drake".😂
(Wordplay aside, I can't stop thinking this is Oda-sensei's way of foreshadowing that Drake is meant to be the tenth strawhat luffy recruits. NGL, having a dinosaur on the crew would be pretty cool)

Drake trusts in Koby, but I do like that Luffy took out Goki aka number 5 (Luffy has 2 connections to 5 first his birthday 5/5 aka Children’s Day & his Devil Fruit name Gomu in Gorowase can become Go = 5 & Mu = 6), & Drake took out Juki aka number 10 (X is the roman numeral for 10)
