    Honestly, they need to just drop Miami and Vegas from the calendar (yes, even Vegas), and maybe go to the Kymi Ring in Finland (no Finn has ever gotten a home GP, and I think it's high time to give Finnish fans a home GP).

    • @mikulitsi1819
      @mikulitsi1819 4 месяца назад

      Sad to say as a Finn but a race in Kymi Ring isn't gonna happen unless miracles happen. Massive money problems and I'm actually surprised it hasn't been completely buried yet. I think Bottas was one of the people who are actually trying to save the track organisation from going completely bankrupt

    I get that F1 wants more urban weekends. Honestly, I'm fine with that.
    It's the execution that's sorely lacking. Melbourne and Montréal are large cities with F1 tracks, and should be taken as a blueprint. They aren't bespoke tracks in the middle of nowhere, but they are in open enough areas where you're not constrained by 90 degree corners. Yes, the barriers are a bit tighter than at Spa, but their layouts are a solid B tier.
    I can understand that in some race instances, like the Strip, F1 would want a particular urban location to matter, but that should be the exception, not the rule. There's nothing special about Miami's or Jeddah's roads that made them worthy of a blah layout.

    El asunto es que los circuitos callejeros son más rentables y económicos de correr. Si no era el circuito de Madrid, de todas formas era un circuito callejero en Barranquilla, Colombia, Gran Premio del Caribe. Además, llevar la F1 a países sin presencia actual es difícil, por lo que más fácil es circuito callejero.

    I wasn't thinking about it before you mentioned what tracks fans would like to see added to the F1 calendar. My immediate thought was a NASCAR track because it would be funny to me. And that led me to imagine the boys going 4 wide down the straight at Talladega and now I need to see it.

  • @billymccroy2294
    @billymccroy2294 4 месяца назад +11

    I hate the street circuit obsession. And I am really terrified what the answer at the end will mean for the future of F1, which I completely agree with. Liberty Media are white-knuckling with the dip in the D2S bubble and thus taking all the air out of the thing that they already did have.
    I think we are missing out on Sepang, Magny-Cours and Kyalami. Not to mention, the Vegas and Miami GPs could have been held at any number of fantastic permanent US tracks: IMS, Laguna Seca, Sonoma, or Watkins Glen. Great tracks that are designed to create good racing.
    And do you know the fastest way to get people to stop watching? Keep putting on boring races in Metro area suburban mall/convention center/stadiums.

    @mikulitsi1819 4 месяца назад +2

    It sucks to see so many street circuits added instead of proper purpose built circuits. However I've got to say that if the mods of the Madrid layout are correct then it could be an interesting street circuit. And as much as the Las Vegas weekend was a shitshow (which Max rightfully called out), the race was one of the better ones last year

  • @Qwerty-wn3fl
    @Qwerty-wn3fl 5 месяцев назад +4

    I don’t understand the point of adding street circuits (especially in this case). Sure, we have some great street circuits, like Baku, Jeddah and Singapore, but we don’t need more. It especially doesn’t make sense in this case as there are multiple other FIA grade a tracks in Spain, such as Aragon and Jerez. Additionally, why would we need to add street circuits when you CAN LISTEN TO THE FANS, INSTEAD OF TAKING YOUR STUPID MONEY. JUST ADD SEPANG AND HOCKENHEIM BACK PLEASE. You know what, the fans should vote for the races on the f1 calendar. Send this to the FIA.

    • @Iamwolf134
      @Iamwolf134 5 месяцев назад

      The thing to understand is that the cars themselves have gotten smaller than they have been lately, and are set to become even smaller in 2026, so they may end up being somewhat better suited for use in street circuits. Of course, to extract comparable performance they would have to adopt some form of active aerodynamics combined with active suspension, and not just DRS. All of this on the grounds obnoxious safety, but fuel economy too. The sport of Formula 1 needs its money in order to keep it going.

      The good permanent tracks are far from people that want to watch races and transport links like airports. Putting the circuits in the cities brings the racing closer to the fans so more people can buy tickets and merchandise

    • @Qwerty-wn3fl
      @Qwerty-wn3fl 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@NoContextVideosChannel yes, that is a great argument, but only real fans are willing to pay to get in to the circuit, and for most fans, a 2 or 3 hour drive is fine, as they are likely big fans. Also by bring the race to the fans, it creates unwanted noise, think of Vegas, as not everyone there is an f1 fan. This is the same reason that airports usually aren’t in the city, because like racetracks, they create loads of noise.

    • @NoContextVideosChannel
      @NoContextVideosChannel 5 месяцев назад

      @Qwerty-wn3fl good point but also f1 don't have to share profits with the track as they own the street circuits while they exist. The cities don't charge much as it brings good economic benefits

    There are 3 street circuits that I can accept:
    Monaco - yeah totally not suitable for modern F1 cars, and probably hasn't been suitable for at least the last 40 years, but is so much part of F1 history that to abandon it would be a travesty. These days I think of it more of a showcase weekend rather than a race.
    Then there's Australia's Albert Park and Canada's Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Both of these tracks, while street circuits (partially in the case of Canada) both behave very much like permanent circuits for the most part and are suitable for F1 racing.
    The rest are just simply incompatible with F1 for a large variety of reasons.
