I'm was born and raised in NYC and I'm sooooo over it... I can relate to everything you both shared. I can't wait to move and find my peace soon. Best of luck on your journey!
You two are talking about Manhattan. I lived on Staten Island. I would go to Manhattan on the weekends. Staten island was quiet, I had a nice apartment, free parking. It was a nice balance.
I was thinking when you were saying you wanted the middle ground between nature and culture you should move to portland. I moved here from the UK. You don't have to share a table here at a coffee shop and there's forest park right in the town. Outdoors are super easily accessible. You won't regret it. Be sure to let us know if you're planning any meet ups.
It's a beautiful place to live - I hope you will love it there. Plus, they have Powell's bookstore, which is the largest independent book store in the world - it's super awesome!
This is big news! Wish you all the best in this new chapter in life! I've been watching your vlogs on Cody's channel for some time now and I can't wait to see this travel / moving vlog. Good luck! :)
I have always felt that for personal well being you have to be comfortable with your surroundings for spiritual and creative growth. I applaud you both for that realization and wish you all the best going forth will be here to follow you through that journey.
I get anxious too, I can only deal with crowds of people intermittently, and I live in South London! but for a major city, London is sprawled out , unlike NYC, so feels less enclosed than New York, London offers sanctuary in many quarter's, where you can go hours at a time without seeing a single other person. I know your next destination , will work for you, if it doesn't, just move again , keep moving til you find your perfect paradise. Always remember to eat lightning and crap thunder! Ciao for now folks
Exactly, that’s like a comment I wrote on other video about London. Manhattan is very compact, and hard to get away from noises and cars. In some ways that compactness gives it its charm. One neighborhood is close to the next, etc. that mixture of neighborhoods, squeezed in together, makes it an exciting place to live. Which might be not as visible to tourists, who want more so-called “attractions”, like London has. But the compactness of NYC can get old after a while too. So, some positives, some negatives.
I completely understand what you mean, my husband and I live in NYC now but I have always said that NYC is not the place where i'm going yo be the majority of my life, for now is something we have and can do, but eventually we need a place that is more calm then a BIG City.
Are you going to keep up on Deeply Curious when you move ,I lived in London for 8 years and realised I needed to have a less hectic lifestyle ,London is very noisy and traffic congestion horrific and quite dangerous today with multiple stabbings and racial issues.I love London so much and still visit the South Bank for concerts but live ninety miles outside.I love the way you explain this anxiety and stress levels of living in N.Y.C.and can totally identify ,have been there.Thank-you for this and best of luck for your journey.
Good luck in Portland :) It seems to be the right fit for you both right now if not long term. Cody, I've enjoyed watching your NYC videos and I look forward to your move out west video series.
Love your core values (they are mine too) and that you can find the freedom en courage to reflect and act upon them. Most people don't for a lot of understandable reasons. Looking forward to your new exploration of a full and meaningful life from Portland.
When you come to D.C. it may be better to get a hotel room at the National Harbor in Maryland with it's many restaurants and stores. If you drive into DC you have to find one of limited parking places and see the sights by bike, board or scooter. DC has lots of bike lanes. After you have seen DC, you can spend the evening walking the streets of the newly built National Harbor, even ride the Ferris wheel. Afterward, the highways run right through the harbor, leading to whatever direction you want to go.
Hi Sarah ! Hi Cody ! So sad you’re leaving NYC, I love(d) your videos, but I’m sure you’re going to make us love Portland ! Can’t wait to follow you ! (Ps : When I listened to your podcast “Leaving NYC”, I had in mind that song from LCD Soundsystem : “New York I love you but you’re bringing me down”.) Good luck with all your futur projects ! 🍀 Christine 😘
Yay! So weird that I asked you guys if you were “done.” I’d only seen your video on your small apt in nyc when I’d met you... but NYC is soooo noisy! I think that every single time I go in for the day from CT. EXHAUSTING. ❤️ Excited for you both! 💪🏽
Ok now thats exciting! Thank you for sharing your plans with us guys, we support you 100% and look forward to see the new adventure videos. Oregon!? Hm! Interesting.
Question: Do you guys regret losing the title of “homeowner” to pursue NYC just to leave a few short years later? I ask because I’m currently an owner and have contemplated selling to make the same exact move with my family. People think I’m crazy when I speak about it but I truly believe traveling and experiencing what cities such as NYC have to offer is a far better advantage than being a home owner. Hope to hear your thoughts on this.
I'm so happy for you! I deeply belive that this is the good decision. Watching your videos i was condiering: are they really love this city? What do they love?!

NYC is a rat lab. Have you seen the laws they are enforcing in the city? I'd move out quickly.
Kudos to you both! Cant wait to go on another journey with you both. I’ve never been to New York but I feel like I have through you two.

You both light up when you start talking about where you are moving to! (no spoilers) I am road tripping through there in the summer and can't wait!
We live in Spokane Washington. The northwest is BEAUTIFUL. Portland is eclectic, unique, and fun. Congratulations on your new adventures!!!!!
Great conversation I’m gonna share with my buddy in Florida.
Good luck in Portland :) It seems to be the right fit for you both right now if not long term.

My top two guesses were Seattle or Portland, and I was right!

Thanks so much! We’re still making videos, just taking a few weeks off to rest. We love that song and it perfectly represents how we feel.
Stop by Tuba City Az, see the nearby Dinosaur tracks and also the Hopi village of Moenkopi

Currently in NYC and I really wanna leave for the same reasons. Husband won’t budge though so I’m stuck here. It’s a battle every day.
Excited for the road trip! :)
Unless your a native to a big city already, a big city is only to visit, explore, and leave

That’s a tough one. I regret it in some ways but I don’t regret my NYC experience. And I can’t have one without the other so I would do it again.
Don’t do that!
Best of luck, looking forward to the Portland content.
I'm so happy for you! I deeply belive that this is the good decision. Watching your videos i was condiering: are they really love this city? What do they love?!
SAME.
Dang thought it was click bait. Looking forward to the traveling videos to Portland and some Okie videos
Good luck on you next move
Really thought you were going to say London lol 👍🇬🇧
