I would add two tips: 1) When firing on long distance press and hold SHIFT for holding breath, your aim will be more stable for a while. 2) If you see a soldier and not sure if he's on your side or not, notice how he hold his weapon during sprint. North Vietnamese soldiers hold their weapons in one hand during sprint (like German/Japanese soldiers in RO2/RS). US/AUS/South Vietnamese soldiers hold it with both hands during sprint (like US/Soviet soldiers in RO2/RS).

At the 6:38 mark you have "Build Tunnels" a second time. I believe it should be something along the line of "Pick less inconspicuous clothing". The points you made are really useful to new players though. You learn a lot of these points through experience as well. The game can have a little bit of a learning curve at first but man it feels nice to play it once you get all these points down.
Terms of basic : 1.Do not reload when you're not emptied your mag. It's dumb when you reloads as you not emptied your mag. 2.Does not press X before using Revolver and complain that it's suck. 3.Calling Semi-automatic weapons and Bolt-action rifles suck. Who played RS2/Orchrestra before will know why those weapons are not suck. 4.Using Charge arms and doesn't know how to cancel it.(by right-click, it's a problem since RS2/Orchrestra) 5.Don't being scares of penetrating props. You could penetrate almost everything in this game.
When holding angles, you should try to stay as far back as possible from the edge of the object you are hiding behind, so that you can see the enemies before they see you. "Cutting the pie" is how people call it, not very sure though. Great video, btw.
The reason why the choppers don't land is becauze the helos will take like 5/20 second before finally decending. It takes sometime for the main rotor to lose his momentum and slowdown.
Ysbrand vd Velde When going in for a landing, the pilot should be as low as possible and only have to bleed speed by pitching up while reducing the collective. The three primary controls (collective pitch, cyclic pitch, and antitorque) must be used simultaneously to make a proper landing.
my best moment was when i became a tree in a cu chi game. i was in a bush when the us forces overtook our position and being the scardy cat i was, i just stood in the bush. i couldn't run out of the bush it would be suicidal since the bush was in an open field (this was the bush in the middle between the temple and the asphalt road), so i just crouched there. many marines run past and one by one i one took them down with my sks (or was it an m1 carbine, i don't remember). i thought that i would only manage to get one or two kills in until the enemy caught up to my position but nooooo. i got to five or six until the us forces overtook another point. this time, their spawn point was ahead of me. managed to lie on the asphalt road and injured a few of them until i got sniped back.
I just hit level 65 with over 250 hours and never really thought to reexamine my sprinting habit. Dozens of times just recently I've been killed because I was sprinting and couldn't ADS fast enough but it never clicked to me that an easy solution would be to sprint less when making contact. I'm dumb.
Thanks for the tips. I started to play the game yesterday, I didn't played RO2 much, but I'm quite into the genre, since I've played alot of Day of Infamy which has a few similar gameplay elements Rising storm has.
If anything, it's about whatever you can possibly do to win the game, which sometimes means getting kills on the flanks of an objective for example. But yeah not entirely about kills
its about holding the enemy back and suppresing fire, kills just come in the process unless you're attacking then obviously its about kills as you are trying to clear the point to cap it.
Unlike in many other shooters, in this game the team with the better commander wins. You can clearly feel the difference when you are on a losing streak, suddenly a wild commander that uses a mic appears who actually tells everyone what to do and this has already turned so many campaigns around. The same was true for RO2. It's not about simply killing/dying in this game, it's about being at the right place at the right time, knowing when to bunker down and carefully hide in an ambush or when to do a frontal massed charge to overwhelm a weak point in the enemies defences. In this game it's not about a couple of people carrying the game with kills, but with everyone doing their little contribution. It is a cool experience that I haven't really noticed in other games, at least not modern ones.
I know this is a old vid but thanks for the tips for this game cuz the first time i played it i suck i always die alot of times but when i saw your video i improved alot in the game, thanks alot :)
I've just bought this game and if I can be honest ... I think I'm too old for such fast fps games. I can surprise enemy, shoot first, hit first and he still manage to turn instantly and put me down. I thought it's going to be more like Squad, less arcade. Anyway, great upload.
This one commander i had called in a gunship on a friendly position and whiped out our whole team causing us to loose since he didnt know how to cancel
Heres a tip: Listen for voices. Characters will usually talk and you can hear them no matter what side, so lets say you are the Vietnamese sitting behind a wall and hear English voices coming from the other side, that tells you that there is an enemy on the other side of that wall, same goes for US and AUS, if you hear Vietnamese voices, there are enemies on the other side
The M14 has a big pro of being able to shoot through basically any wall. Its sights suck for longer ranges but within 75 yards going up against cover like brick walls it can definitely give you an edge if there's not an M60 nearby and you take your time with well placed shots. The M16 is fine if you have a tendency to panic and rapid fire due to its low recoil, or if you're carefully aiming out 150 yards thanks to its better sights and accuracy, or if you're kicking in doors with full auto. The biggest downside of the M16 is that they removed the 30 round mags for it and you have to use 20 rounders downloaded to 18, but with the M14 you have 20 rounders that you can top off with stripper clips so you won't have to deal with switching out to a half empty mag as much.
I just looked on veteran forums they said they started seeing a few 30 rounders here and there dating back to late '67-'68, mostly with XM177 series carbines with SF groups, and they were designed back in '65-'66. There are even many reports of troops buying them straight from the civilian market and mailing them into Vietnam. So given the time frame each of the maps take place, there should at least be the option to take downloaded 30 round mags with the XM177. If the commies can have 5 different flavors of AK I should be able to have a couple 30 round mags.
The only real flashy thing I wear as the US is the Born to Test helmet that every beta tester got, and the COD noob that was trying to use me as a human shield when he was playing as the sniper and I was the RPG really needs to watch this because he died more times to my back blast than number of kills he got with that SVD
The official tutorial videos feel very inadequate. Even after watching them and playing a few rounds I was still really confused and I think a lot of other people were too. But overall really fun game. Thanks for the vid!
the problem with using smoke is that it gives away where they are pushing or crossing and people like me will shoot into smoke to prevent them from pushing or crossing and can pick up kills too so its useful in some situations but not all
Really good video, ive lately started rushing less and started using my brain more and ive noticed most of these points myself. But i know that for like the 25 first levels at least i must have played like an idiot, doing almost everything wrong that you can do wrong at one point or another. I just know there must have been one match where i was squad leader but didnt know what that meant or just forgot about it in the fighting, not digging tunnels and making no marks. My mates probably all capsing at me in squad chat and then leaving after a while because often i dont read it. This is why i must forgive other noobs, for i know i've been one.
Greetings players of Rising Storm 2 Vietnam, I have recently acquired the game through Epic Games. My PC is low end, my internet connection even lower, and a headset that has lesser qualities than two cups attached to a piece of string. I hope this video will aid me despite the limitations of my hardware. See you all on the battlefield! Sincerely, A Fellow Normie
I have too add something to the point you made when you told us not to shot everything. You are right but its also important to give supressing fire (even a sniper rilfe can do that) Cause i recnd. that i am tending to quickly hide and stop pushing while beeing under fire. At least if you have a bunch of ammo left
I have a question and I dont want to offend you with it. I am new to your channel and watched some of your videos but not all of them. Whenever I see your RUclips Videos, I never see you playing the objective. You always seem to be behind enemy lines or a bit back and killing people off. I mean I know it is important to drain those tickets but isnt it more important to get on the objective? Even if it means dying more and killing less?
SOIBand fair question, the reason it looks like that is because you only see highlights where I’m getting multi kills or something cool is happening and not an entire match. I have a few videos where you’ll see an entire match and that I do play objective. But how often are you going to want to watch a video of zone caps? Haha gotta give the people what they want and that’s action
I'm pretty decent in other games but this game has been so unforgiving to me. Half of the time I don't see anyone and I just get dropped out of nowhere even if I'm hugging along some form of cover. If I do see someone first and get the jump on them, a lot of times they'll take two or three shots while I get instant-gibbed. My pc is old but I still get good frames 80-110+ fps with i5 2500k & GTX 680sc. I'll adhere to everything you mentioned in this vid and hopefully I will see improvements soon since I'm still under 30 hours of experience
The first time I played rising storm 2 vietnam was when it was free on epic games. It was a bit strange cuz there were people talking stuff I didn't understand. I uninstalled it after but I installed it again cuz I have nothing to play and NO ONE uses voice chat. Like why
I just got the game a few days ago and I do most of these but the map thing and moving around after shooting is what I definitely need to work on. And especially switching full auto to semi.

Haven't started playing this yet- just watching vids fer now. Best tutorial yet. Thanks!
I played this game like it was Call of Duty
That's a mistake nobody should do
Terms of basic :
1.Do not reload when you're not emptied your mag. It's dumb when you reloads as you not emptied your mag.
2.Does not press X before using Revolver and complain that it's suck.
3.Calling Semi-automatic weapons and Bolt-action rifles suck. Who played RS2/Orchrestra before will know why those weapons are not suck.
4.Using Charge arms and doesn't know how to cancel it.(by right-click, it's a problem since RS2/Orchrestra)
5.Don't being scares of penetrating props. You could penetrate almost everything in this game.
When holding angles, you should try to stay as far back as possible from the edge of the object you are hiding behind, so that you can see the enemies before they see you. "Cutting the pie" is how people call it, not very sure though. Great video, btw.
You'll see eachother at the same time, it just gives you a better view
Don't over shoot. Well forget that if you are MG :D its spray & pray people
Got this recommended 3 years late, it’s okay youtube I know you’re trying
Always remember to blast Fortunate Son while riding a helicopter
that is a must
Good guide, but RS in my opinion has never really been about kills.
Dr Strangelove it’s about getting kills and about capturing as many objectives as you can
If anything, it's about whatever you can possibly do to win the game, which sometimes means getting kills on the flanks of an objective for example.
I just got the game...I was sprinting everywhere
I did too and played the game for 2 hours and was like damn I have no idea what I’m doing, it’s not COD or BF4 and had to watch this video
Got the game, same problems.I will give it another chance
I know this is a old vid but thanks for the tips for this game cuz the first time i played it i suck i always die alot of times but when i saw your video i improved alot in the game, thanks alot :)
I've just bought this game and if I can be honest ... I think I'm too old for such fast fps games. I can surprise enemy, shoot first, hit first and he still manage to turn instantly and put me down.
I thought it's going to be more like Squad, less arcade.
Anyway, great upload.
One thing to add: most cover is penetrable. Meaning if your opponent hides behind a cover, if youu shoot it you will probably kill them
actually like the delivery, very chill. good points too.
This one commander i had called in a gunship on a friendly position and whiped out our whole team causing us to loose since he didnt know how to cancel
"Just stay away from guys with RPGs"
honestly solid life advice
How to not be a noob at practically every fps:Forget what Cod taught you.
The SKS is lighter and carries more ammo that is the advantage if you pick SKS. The sights are also easier to use in long range situations
I'm new to the game and this has helped sculpt an Insurgency player into the Rising Storm 2 Meta! ☺
Half these are preference and logic.
I did the shoot at helicopters part in my first game ever. My first kill ingame was a huey lmao
the problem with using smoke is that it gives away where they are pushing or crossing and people like me will shoot into smoke to prevent them from pushing or crossing and can pick up kills too so its useful in some situations but not all
M14 is hella fun tho, Ill be stickin with it
go for it, the m16 is typically better for most people that are new
Really good video, ive lately started rushing less and started using my brain more and ive noticed most of these points myself.
"Don't sprint when you're around a lot of enemies"
*proceeds to sprint back and forth*
Greetings players of Rising Storm 2 Vietnam,
I have recently acquired the game through Epic Games. My PC is low end, my internet connection even lower, and a headset that has lesser qualities than two cups attached to a piece of string. I hope this video will aid me despite the limitations of my hardware. See you all on the battlefield!
Sincerely,
A Fellow Normie
This guide was really helpful man I am so much better at the game now
D O N T OVER SHOOT!!! Cease fire!!!
Noobs: but that sniper shot 8-ball!!!!
I have too add something to the point you made when you told us not to shot everything. You are right but its also important to give supressing fire (even a sniper rilfe can do that) Cause i recnd. that i am tending to quickly hide and stop pushing while beeing under fire. At least if you have a bunch of ammo left
Also, get a head headset, boost audio quality and get instant Shell Shock :)
The M14 definitely has a place for the US team. The heavier round can get some kills in one shot that the M16 can't.
"if you ever found yourself stuck on the map"
yeah, like nearly once per map. almost always vaulting at the edge of a wall and not the center of it
lmao so true
Just started playing this, some great tips for new players in this video!
I couldn`t have put it better myself !
I use m14 and sks as much as possible, hell even the m1 carbine. It teaches me to aim precise and make sure my target actually gets hit.
The last one is my favorite lol 😂
just got the game and can’t talk or hear any voice chat. any fix??
free on the Epic Games store rn
Yeah i just got it, and I am trying to stop being a scrub lol.
I thought about buying this game and this is now in my recommended
Im a grunt and i use sks all the time. Its awesome and quite better and accurate in distance fights than ak47.
and know the maps :P
9:30 are these all tk s?
Nah i think is because back in that time , USA or allied forces had their own color
Nah, his color presets are switched. Blue is enemy, red is friendly. Which in my opinion is kinda dumb but to each their own
I have a question and I dont want to offend you with it.
Alright, fair enough. Thats a reasonable point. thank you for answering!
I can’t tell who the enemy is and who is friendly (besides looking at map). Am I just hopeless?
I'm pretty decent in other games but this game has been so unforgiving to me. Half of the time I don't see anyone and I just get dropped out of nowhere even if I'm hugging along some form of cover. If I do see someone first and get the jump on them, a lot of times they'll take two or three shots while I get instant-gibbed. My pc is old but I still get good frames 80-110+ fps with i5 2500k & GTX 680sc. I'll adhere to everything you mentioned in this vid and hopefully I will see improvements soon since I'm still under 30 hours of experience
@Kieran Blookie I never know where the enemy is going to be coming from
The first time I played rising storm 2 vietnam was when it was free on epic games. It was a bit strange cuz there were people talking stuff I didn't understand. I uninstalled it after but I installed it again cuz I have nothing to play and NO ONE uses voice chat. Like why
I just got this game it's really fun and this video is very helpful thanks dude
Thank you for this I was shit my first day.
I just got the game a few days ago and I do most of these but the map thing and moving around after shooting is what I definitely need to work on. And especially switching full auto to semi.
Sorry if this is abit late but where did you get the wallpaper that you used as the thumbnail? I have been searching for quite a while and haven’t seen it on the internet. Was it in Wallpaper Abyss?
I made the wallpaper haha
i made this strategy up for spotting keep spamming your spot key and look different spots and then when there is a circle look there and spot the enemy and tunnels
I played this for a few hours and I was disappointed in the lack of team communication. The few people who were talking were also just straight assholes. This could be a really good game if you're in the right server.
boonie hats are best for hiding, it breaks up the human sillhouette
agreed
Hey, What graphic settings do you play on? It seems that the graphic settings i play with seems to be disgusting and hard to spot enemies
You sounded so excited doing this video
