Having kids that enjoys playing games like this is the cheat code to getting to 100 plays! Time to reverse my vasectomy!!! I’ll check back in 11 years and 9 months from now!
Finished watching the video and this is a really great one. I don't play Terraforming Mars but those combo looks really rewarding and fun. It would be great to make something like every once in a while for other games as well.
Wife killed me in TM last night with the combo of the microbes card that converts to 3 ME each and the card that gives you 2 microbes per turn. It also didn't help that we had the microbe colony out there as well. She was getting at least 20 extra ME it seemed each generation. I was still somewhat competitive but I couldn't overcome all the money she was able to accumulate.
I've steamrolled my wife with the heat/energy strategy as well with helium (or whatever that corp is called). Even overkilled it a bit with the energy into ME card so I could get even more money during the same turn. That was a fun game for me, not so much for her.
Quick add for the combo of credicor and standard technologies it isnt a cost reduction you still have to the the money to pay for it you just get money back
Both heat and energy production will cost you more on average than M€-production. Helon's 'strength' thus doesn't relly lie in somehow getting more "gold" to spend, but in it's flexibility to get some extra cash now and then when really beneficial, and allows you to commit to high production without having to fear it being completely useless in the end game. However, in general you're better off spending your heat to just raise temperature.
Science recourse from Physics complex cannot be used as a Science tag, so it is not really a combo, you still require to get 5tags to play Mass converter..
That one I would say is actually very bad. Super inefficient. And power is so important especially in early game. You're throwing your cash away to get maybe 2 or 3 TR in a normal game. Just so many better things you could do. Awful awful awful.
I don't play TM anymore. Too long, too many expansions & changes. So I just settled for TM Dice Game. Less options and more randomness for the sake of time and simplicity. But still scratches that strategic itch
@@fan-i-am IMO Base TM + Prelude remains the best TM experience you can have, no need to use the expansions (personally I just own Colonies which seems the best one but I have yet to try it). Time restraints is another thing I can relate unfortunately.
Definitely not a game to play if you don't have a few hours to kill. The only expansion I don't play is Turmoil. Played it a few times and it just added a bit too much complexity and didn't really feel worth it. I like colonies and the preludes and venus. A lot of folks don't seem to like venus but it's simple. Just another place to terraform if you have the cards to do so.
I've played more than 200 games, and I can tell you any of them are broken. They are strong but dont give you an instant victory. Tharsis + Immigrant city is the most dangerous one, in my opinion, but regardless, Tharsis always need to be countered by the other players. It is very strong by itself. In the end, the outcome of the game depends on how reactive the other players are to these combos. It is a great game.
@@joseguirao7979 Agreed. Someone playing Tharsis is automatically going to be the first person I look at when deciding to play anything that removes resources from another player. None of these combos are "broken" in the sense that it will give you the game, but they are definitely ways to have a distinct advantage over the other players. You still need a good strategy for the rest of the game in order to pull off a victory.

Tom Vasel LOVES Terraforming Mars. It was one of his favorite games of all time, but I believe that Ark Nova has taken its spot in his ratings.
Olympus converence + mars university.... Broken combo nr 1 for me.. Quack!

Those terracotta pinch bowls are the best! I have a couple sets myself.
Advanced Alloys and Phobolog

I just want to comment on that hilarious Cage Fight shirt. Quack!
Great video! Hope you can do more videos like this!

Great video
My question is : Do you keep the first combo card solely in the hope of getting the second one?
Some of these are not good combos, like the space mirrors one.

But I should say this video seemed a bit more geared to big games of 4-5 people rather than competive play

Possibly one of the best videos I’ve seen you make, so much fun, thank you!
Any chance of doing something similar for Everdell?
I noticed the game was prone to broken exploits the first time I played it, that's why I unpopularly consider it a bad game.
