In the app you can adjust that sensitivity for takeoff. You can turn it up so you’ll takeoff faster.

Great video Brian. You covered all the bases perfectly, the good and bad. I agree 100%, they got a lot right, but it is overpriced for having such low-end stuff, like the small battery, limited gearing and speed sensor. For this retail price, they should give us a 20 amp battery, torque sensor, 8 speeds with a bigger chain ring and 11-32T sprocket. Even with the discount code, it's not a great value. Competition is too fierce to accept mediocrity.

If Horizon bike had additional features like torque sensor plus 8-speed trigger shifter. I'd gladly put my money down!

The app should allow you to change all the personalized settings also. Much easier. Great looking bike.

Excellent and thorough review once again. Thank you.
To Heybike ... maybe a bit too much plastic here and there for me. I want metal fenders, and the chain guard I think will be susceptible to some damage, with the step-thru.
Battery is just ok, hope you have options.

You're right about its small battery size. If it were 20ah, they'd likely have a new customer.

First! And 1 of the strengths is that drop-dead gorgeous paint job on the frame!
Its not a single monochrome, but a blend of vibrant colours. I like that ALLOT! Also.. and yep, the battery is a huge challenge also am unsure of the longevity around that locking hinge on the folding mechanism. It doesn't fill me with confidence over its lifespan.. which is a big deal in a folding bike thats able to accelerate to 30mph!
You need that frame to be rock solid & sturdy - without question or fail. Or it will end badly.

Great quality review Brian. I still haven't bought my first ebike. I have liked the thought of the lower 20" fat tire ebikes, but wonder if they are too low for me (5'10"). I've considered the 26"...but now I'm really craving this 24"...liking the idea of full suspension. Might be time to pull the trigger.

I agree with all your test results and opinions about the things they need to work on such as handlebar width and seat height adjustments! Plus, add a BMX style handle bar with some swept back and a larger front tooth chain ring. Great job though!! This is still one of my favorites

Thank you for the review. Yes, remove the folding frame feature. At this size and weight, it's too awkward to fold and potentially cause vehicle damage or physical injury. Otherwise, I like this bike a lot.

My feedback for Heybike mostly matches the pros and cons mentioned in Citizen's great review.
I only have a couple of differences with him. I don't see the minimum seat height as a problem. It goes low enough to fit most people. For riders that need extremely low seat heights, the smaller 20 inch wheel bikes are a better option imo.
Citizen mentioned the automatic headlight functionality and the "OFF" display reading, but was not able to give them proper emphasis because he is a nice guy.
The automatic headlights were a nice thought, but of course the problem is that the system does not shut off when you turn the bike's display off.
And the display says "OFF" when it is off? That is just silly. And useless. And a little annoying. And somebody thought that up and made it happen. That person should probably drink less coffee or something.
Beautiful bike though. Prettiest folder that I have seen. The paint job is great, but to me the frame itself is the real standout. Super clean fold joint. Amazingly low and wide step thru for a full suspension bike. Nice details like the flowing hydroform lines extending back from the head tube accessory mounts.
So pat your stylist on the back and hide your display programmer's coffee.

I do really like the full lighting package, front, rear, brake, and even turn signals both front and rear, not sure if it will be useful, but at least it looks pretty cool. I don’t like the folding design, it makes me feel like it might break at some point, most people these days have SUVs, and SUVs are really popular, so even without folding design, you can still fit inside the trunk of an SUV which I do have.

Needs both UL certification 2271 and 2249, battery safety is really important to me, also needs a bigger battery size, 20ah would be perfect. Also, the screen is kinda cheap looking, others have full color LCD screen. If they can fix these issues, then it would be my perfect ebike.

I dont mean to knock things but so far as I comment I have been. IDK. For some reason I keeps seeing weird things that aren't really cool to me. But I'm sure it is a good bike. I just edited this in before final comment. I love this channel and hoping everyone understands.. but am open to people not agreeing. This is my take and well I'm me and yours are you so could be different is all.
First thinking auto headlight switch is nice but I generally always know when its dark to turn on and didn't need it but after hearing it will not be off and powering the off display will kill battery and its just some goofy sounds cool buy me thing...not needed. If ordering with options list would not click to add the option and sell me cheaper. Me personally you may be different.
Folding I feel same way unless you are limited for extreme storage does anybody use it for real? I dont see anybody using it but maybe some people do? IDK Waste for me anyways I dont see me ever using it. Maybe people do so no big deal. But me unclick options list. it could be made cheaper I want it sold cheaper without the option that I would personally never use.
The app says you went 1.41 kilometers. 7:15 Can that be adjusted to miles? And avg and max speed dont say is that Kph or Mph? Guessing kph because average 27 is crazy. 7:39 you say it can adjust display metric or imp. but does that follow to app I guess?
Agree with battery being way better to drop from the top! :)
Battery size I wont comment on because everyone is different there. Bigger is heavier if you dont use it, its more weight.
Step through was not a consideration for me at all on my purchase. But if you add a rack if you dont have it and through some bag on the back and then you see how much easier step through would be... And step through full suspension is harder to fine. So win there Heybike!
Everyone on YT keeps bragging about top speed. Man me I feel 20mph is good and over is awesome but if they could re gear the faster ones to at least climb a hill and top at 20 or plus but geared for torque to move and speed to 20 or more good. Mine is close to 40 mph class and actually would do all off-road inclines but if it was geared in the hub differently it would slow it down but do the hills easier and probably better battery with less power usage. Me personally would rather have the power then speed.
End of video you agreed on a few things so that cool.

The "hum" isn't caused by the size but from the tire type. If you ran street tires on it it would ride smoother

80 pounds for a folding ebike? That's more than my full size 26" Heybike Explore. Are you sure that isn't the gross shipping weight, box and packing material, etc.?

  • @Old_Man_Pete
    @Old_Man_Pete Год назад +3

1st impressions it has great potential, watching further into the video and the 1st impressions have disappeared.
1, it's too big to fold.
2, it's too heavy to fold
3, auto headlight, really on a ebike, not needed.
4, having to remover the battery to fully turn the display off.
Apart from that it's a nice colour < spelt correctly you crazy Americans 🤣
