You can use regular garden soil or even river sand for this propagation technique. I use a mix soil of rice husk charcoal , dry cow dung and soil . See it here if you wish

the soil i use is a little wet plus aloe vera , so i dont add more water. for the next 50 days, i dont water at all because the plastic bag will give moisture for the cutting to survive
