That "Rubbery" feeling is likely something called "Flash Drying" that happens often with Aloe Vera. Acidic products and Humectants (aloe is both) can have this dual effect where they both close the cuticle and draw water out of the center of the hair leading to a bizarre "dry when wet" feeling similar to wet rubber. It's also why people complain a lot about Glycerin, Aloe and custards as they can 'sit on top of the strand and lead to a gummy or rubbery sensation and dullness if it doesn't eventually soak in. It's usually not a problem by the time it's dry but just another low porosity thing to watch out for especially if you're protein sensitive.
Never heard of flash drying, but thanks for sharing. I will look into this further.

Hi Rae Please don’t pick up those scissors 😅 and yes first impression does show some frizz and looks like it would frizz more with heat if you stretched it but I liked day one results. Only 2 days 😮 and that darn coating again. I don’t blame you for washing it so soon.
If I purchased that gel, I would used it under a hard holding gel. I looked up the ingredients on their websites and I didn’t see any ingredients in it that would give a good hold.

i noticed the volume difference when you came back the same evening...but the next morning it was very big.
i like the volume but the softness may be too soft for a wash-n-go for me if i want the style to last for 3+ days. then again, you know i can't preserve a style for one day, so this may be perfect 🤣😂. tfs
