I feel like the SEC players have such a majority opinion of “I’m here to play football not school”. It always strikes me then PAC 12, ACC, or Big 10 athletes always speak much more coherently.
Many of those kids actually finish and get a degree compared to some of the better sec kids who stay for 2-3 years and head off to the draft. The kids going to the other conferences know theyre not gonna be playing forever and actually take advantage of the free education they're given.
One of my friends from high school had verbally committed to Alabama but then decided his shoulder would never hold up past college, so he ended up committing to Dartmouth. Had a fantastic college football career and now has a great job at the UN. I think the SEC draws a lot more of the NFL hopefuls whereas other conferences have really talented athletes who know their best bet might be a good education.
Why do American high school athletes all look in their 20s with full sleeve tattoos! High school sport is also taken way more seriously than it should!
