  • Venezuela’s National Assembly has approved a new amnesty law, which could result in the release of hundreds of political prisoners.
Officials say it’s a step toward national reconciliation after the US captured President Nicolás Maduro.
But for many Venezuelans, the law raises questions about trust, justice, and accountability.
Al Jazeera’s Noris Soto reports from Caracas.

    "Venezuela’s opposition reacts:
Still, opposition members in the National Assembly expressed optimism about the bill.
National Assembly representative Tomas Guanipa, for instance, called it the start of a “new, historic chapter” in Venezuelan history, one where political dissidents would no longer be “afraid to speak their minds for fear of being imprisoned”.
Nearly 7.9 million Venezuelans have left the country in recent decades, fleeing political persecution and economic instability."-from Al Jazeera news. (This is some good news, but it also reaffirms the Maduro regime and their violence as they had inprisoned poltical civilians who had used their right to free speech, who are imprisoned illegally because they marched and protested and were advocating for freedom of speech. This bill is to release these political prisoners. But everyone needs to see this new bill in detail, the fact that political prisoners should have never been arrested in the first place, it showed the fascist government that Maduro was running, it still is a military authoritarian fascist government.). 7th of Feb 2026.

Leftish dictatorships always put political opponents in jail.
    Trump saving Venezuela.

Weak. Right wing dictatorships kill and disappear their political opponents, works better.
Also, don't you know Trump many times has called for jailing political opponents and shutting down media. He just hasn't been able to do it, as he hasn't yet been able to turn US into a full dictatorship, but he would love to, he talks about it and tries to do it all the time, and so do his supporters. That's quite the irony, isn't it?

They ALWAYS fail to mention that the majority of "political prisoners" in Venezuela committed actual serious crimes and violence. Because of all the CIA and far-right coup plots, some innocent people got swept up in the paranoia, unfortunately
