Michael Crawford embodies what it is to have Outstanding human talent. Like cream it will always rise to the top and he is the top. He has the indisputable ability to ignite our emotions and leave us feeling fully alive as a result of encountering him.
I love Michael Crawford's voice, to jump from powerful to gentle is a skill only great singers like Freddie Mercury could do... who funnily enough was asked to sing the original single but turned it down so Steve Harley sang it.

It was his first real public appearance after months of being out of sight after serious injuries he suffered in the Vegas show, EFX. He's always very nervous before a performance and to have to perform this important show, which was obviously being recorded for showing on TV and for a DVD, with a last-minute substitute would have been nerve-racking !!

Michael Crawford told her to get some rest to feel better, but she didn't want to leave him hanging, so she went on as best as she could. And she did quite well in the given circumstances. A little compassion would suffice in this case, just saying.
Dale was sick, and this has actually been pitch fixed from when it was done live. I saw Dale many times in LA and she was very good. I am sure this sounds so bad because Dale had not been feeling well.
I can only assume this wasn't Dale's best night, however she hit all the notes. One can criticize but she worked on stage with Michael for two years so she was in a major production of POTO with Michael. So my hats off to her I thought she was good. Not the best but certainly a worthy Christine. I still loved hearing her it those notes and Michael was wonderful an excellent vocal musician.
I saw Phantom at least 6 times on Broadway, but sadly not with Michael Crawford. He has a fantastic voice. That being said the performers I did see and hear did a phenomenal job. Magical show.
I saw this musical about 5 times, I did not get to see Crawford any of them but Dale all of the them, her voice was beautiful not forced at all, so it must of been her not feeling well. As for Brightman I only heard her on the soundtrack.
