"Community"? what are you even talking about? A "community" is a myth. Especially something like "the art community", there is no "community", nobody knows anyone. You are just loosely associating all artists as if we were somehow all friends. Sorry dude. The idea of any "community" is a lie. It's all in your imagination.

The worst part about these fake "artists" is the fact that social media addicts are calling everything surreal/abstract "AI" when it very clearly is not AI-generated. Expert photographers have been the biggest target of these horrible "AI" comments, and it's gotten to the point where photographers are now having to record their process in order to prove they took the photo.
Ironic how photographers have always been mocked for not being "real" artists, yet now they're the ones getting harassed for "AI photos" that are actually real photos lol.
Media literacy has really gone downhill if we're attacking real artists for being even mildly better than Calarts students.

"You should change your style. Looks too much like A.I."
      Does it, now?
Guess that means people don't need me, and I don't care. I was never the type of person to look for attention, as if that was anywhere close to the most important thing about self-expression.
And if someone trained an algorithm on my stuff, it's no surprise why it looks similar. But hey, I would never trade away the experience of learning things and making connections between ideas. Nothing can touch that.
Originality is a human concept... It's not a matter of "what makes the best image" or whether "some people have the same fingerprints" - it's all about the personality, the drive and the intent behind every mark Vs. how much something depends on the work of someone else to exist (which algorithms have been trained upon the works of millions of people)... It's not simply about how much something is "different" or "similar".
If someone doesn't know what "marks" these algorithms do and just decide whether they are "good enough" only after they are applied and move on, then there is no human intent in those "generative marks" regardless of whether they choose to save them in a folder packed with other possible "marks" or whatever experience someone has. Each "mark" an accelerated algorithm does is influenced by processes that change them depending on circumstances and what they are working with-processes that no human can do, control or hide entirely.
If people want to argue that they just need to be "creative", as in focusing on ideas over their execution, that is focusing on results, in which case they are skipping a process or parts of it (if they are sometimes using digital programs to edit things), and therefore are leaving interpretation up to anyone else as to what is made by humans. Such a concept based on one's drive and intent is meaningless to anyone who is not willing to put themselves in the practice of a craft while the people who do find it meaningful arguably become much more creative than the ones who don't.
As long as algorithms are not truly intelligent, despite almost everyone labelling them as such, they can't outperform humans in what tasks they already do because they don't have any concept of humanity or the will to understand/feel it. They can still get close on a very superficial level if those filthy rich tech corporations pour enough resources in them to convince people that they can think for them, but I believe there is a constant limit to what they can do without being truly human.
Say that they do develop sentience... Would that change anything about what people are?
The problem is not the technology, it's the way people SEE it.
When a CEO tells someone that they're a "specist" for wanting to make sure humans are O.K. in a future with accelerated compute or when someone says that "by obstructing the algorithm's RIGHT to 'copy' something, that is obstructing other people's rights"... people like this are willing to give rights to machines because they think that more intelligence = more truth, and that anyone who is less "intelligent" by their definition deserves to be taken advantage of.
This is the foundation of the whole "A.I." movement: they decide that they don't need anyone's consent. They just think "might makes right".
Meanwhile, people in politics and the justice department are actually considering having algorithms operate in those fields... one of them, I contacted, and they told me that "A.I. is coming whether I like it or not", and that makes me wonder what they are already doing about it.
Whatever happens, what are people doing about it? That's what I care about the most over whether something is inevitable or not.
I just want to know if people are doing things that actually matter to them over pursuing ideas that are only meant to make them feel somewhat comfortable about everything.

It's kind of incredible how fast people, especially ignorant ones who never did anything like what they're attacking, forget what humans can do. It's the exact same reason so many people believe everything ancient was done by aliens. They just can't seem to wrap their heads around how capable a species we are. And the strangest thing is, like, so many of them knew it yesterday. But they learn about any kind of new technology or a concept new to them and they just forget they knew things like that artists can do amazing things and not every woman is secretly trans. People really are getting dumber at an incredible rate

Same here, it can be concerning and distressing. But though many people are getting impatient and lazy and want easy gratification, I'm not giving up because nobody can force me to use AI. If people want to fully depend on a computer to make stuff for them, that's their business, and usually on them for not even making effort.
I'd much rather struggle and laugh at myself drawing incorrect anatomy as I learn, then let a machine create an odd-looking overly realistic image for me. Because art isn't just about pretty images and getting to the result as fast as possible, but a process. Both a process of creating, and finding joy and passion, in what the human mind and hand can do.
Which more and more people seem to be failing to understand.

Because of this, for you to keep on moving is incredible. Because its brave to continue moving forward despite not knowing what comes next. And despite adversity. If art is what you want to do then go for it.
I find what I keep hearing is continue to make the art you want to make. Disappointing indeed. A similar thing happened in architecture schools. Architecture schools once taught aspiring architects how to build stunningly beautiful traditional architecture from the average or mundane to the glorious and ornate neo-classical or beaux arts. But nowadays their are probably less than ten major universities worldwide that teach architects how to build traditional buildings. There is the university of notre dame in paris which is the only college that I could find in Europe that teaches beaux arts architecture and the university of miami which teach traditional architecture as well. Many other colleges do "study the art hisgtory of traditional architecture, but they do not offer legitimate courses in it. There is even a stigma in the architecture community against architects wanting to design traditional architecture. There is an active movement trying to make traditional architecture disappear. The same is probably happening in all other areas of art as well. The arts as a whole are in serious danger.

When it comes to regular reastyrounts, yiu are just asking them one thing and they just prepare according to how the reasturount does it. You can't tell them the ingredients or anything. But with subway, telling them what stuff to put in in a particular order and if yiu want it toasted is kinda similar to how people would write a prompt on what they specificaly want in the image and how it needs to be done. The prompt is the ingredients in a way. But even though you did tell tell that person what you want in the sandwich and how it needs to be done, you still didn't make it on your own. You told someone else to do that stuff for you. Yes, you in some way created the sandwich, but you didn't MAKE it or CREATE it with effort as you are not the one constructing it and putting work into it. Thats how I see AI. Someone going to subway, telling someone what they want on the sandwich and how it needs to be done, and then claiming that you made it because it's instructed by you.

Millions of pieces of art are used to train AI against the artists consent. For some people, it's their income. For others, it's a life long passion. You got some nerves to write such a thing under a comment where I'm literally expressing how my lifelong passion is being ripped away from me because companies only cares about technology and money. You should genuinely open yourself a bit more to what is happening in the artist communities online lately. AI is literally being used to scam professional artists more and more, even trying to start competitions between people and making beginners and older people feel discouraged about their skills ! AI is used to steal artists unique artstyle and then profiting out of it. It happened to our beloved Quinni, may her soul rest in peace, but also to other less known artists like Caitlin Koi shown here. AI could be used to create such amazing technologies that could help humanity, but no, instead it's being used to steal people's work and profit out of it. Please, before commenting such ignorant stuffs, learn a little bit more about what it is to be an artist in the current AI situation. There are good reasons why entire groups of artists are currently filing lawsuits against corporations who broke some basic consent and copyright rules for the sake of technology. AI isn't art and will never be, art is a piece of work created by a human. All AI do is massively stealing this work to make profit out of it. Kinda funny that you throw a spike against artists who are worried for their paycheck when most of AI steals art to make money out of it, sometimes straight stealing an artist unique style. Hell, even 2 years worth of my infography homeworks have been fed to an AI against my consent, because Adobe were the only programs we were allowed to us ! Again, please extend your knowledge in the artist community to realize the magnitude of the crisis. I recommend you to check out more videos on @MohammedAgbadi channel, he talks about the latest things that happened in artists communities online, including the latest things AI did to them. Please, once again, extend your range of knowledge and realize that people's years of hard work are literally being stolen from them in the name of technology. We never agreed to this, and we're called names for sharing our art online in the first place (most platforms made the collection of art an immediate yes, and made the whole process of opting out of this problem barely know and complicated. I recommend you to check Mohammed's video on DeviantArt, and how the platform is forcing artists who have been there for more than 12 years to opt out DRAWING BY DRAWING. Not only it is an insane thing for artists who have literally hundreds of posts there, but also what about the ones who are dead ? And the onr who forever lost their account ? Why is the default setting set on consenting ? That's not how consent work at all)

@@bladechild2449 Also, I saw your other comment on this video. So if even after all I've written you still think that new technologies should go before people's consent, I'm out of the conversation. I'm tired of having to prove to people why I should have the right to pursue my passion without constantly fearing that it's gonna be stolen from me. I want to make a career out of art, especially in video games, that was my dream for years. But I can't achieve this dream with only a sketchbook and a pencil, I need to get myself out there to find opportunities. And that includes exposing myself to greedy corporations who only see myself as a new money opportunity

I’m so sick of this AI thing for making “art”. I just found it horrible. AI is supposed to help in some way, not to screw us up.
Edit: Ok I wrote this really fast and I just want to clear this up.
I know it’s actually humans who use AI in a wrong way, it’s not entirely AI’s fault. I just feel like it was never a good idea to make an AI capable of making art, because AI itself steals art from other artists in social media. I found it truly exhausting trying to even do some tricks in your own art just to hope AI doesn't steal it.
By “screw us up” I meant that AI steals from our art, our hard work.
That’s all. In a fairy tail, we all use it just for good and not with bad intentions.
If you use it in a good way, I'm happy for you. If u don’t, well, don’t cry if artists notice and blame u of AI using.

It started with people on Reddit claiming I did paint overs. I didn’t. Then another portrait was “wow crazy how so many people us AI of these all over Instagram.” That was when AI art first started so I genuinely couldn’t tell if they were being passive aggressive.
Now I get it ALL THE TIME when I post on Reddit. To the point that when people ask to see a speedpaint; I assume they’re just trying to “prove” it’s AI. And if they have good intentions, then I can’t tell anymore.
I’ve tried changing my rendering style to a more sketching unblended process but it hasn’t quelled the accusations much. Nvm that all of my work is uploaded to Cara which is pretty solid at detecting AI generated images.

You could try using an insignia to work into all of your art. Like not a signature, but a symbol that’s consistently part of the artwork. AI can’t do that and it would take effort for you to at the very least keep adding it even if you did use AI. All the better if you can make a composition with the symbol or a character based on it or something. Do things that AI can’t do. And what it can’t do is have consistent details across outputs.

6:57 "Art is art, this is a weird post to make"
My brother in christ, this is not art. What makes a drawing into art is the thought and emotion it conveys and evokes. An algorithm has no such thing to show. That makes it only an algorithmic approximation of other real art.

You add the thought and emotion into the input prompt 😉
For real tho, all art is an approximation of some existing idea. Mutations going all the way back to cave paintings. I don’t think "artists" appreciate how derivative they truly are. Your lived experience is no different than an AI’s model dataset. If you grew up in a cave you could never make the Mona Lisa

If anyone's using Google, using -"" will exclude whatever's in the quotation mark. -"ai", -"stablediffusion", and -"midjourney" should block a few ai images.
For Pinterest, go to your settings in your profile, and select tune your home page. Uncheck the images you don't want Pinterest to recommend you. Saving a few human illustrations to your pin should also help.

whoever tries to hire these character designers is going to have a rough time.
"make this a little different" is going to be a very very hard thing for them to do, as it's not precise, and in my opinion, never will be.

Exactly. AI might get you 90% of the way there to exactly what you want. But you're still going to have to pick up a stylus pen for that last 10%. And as with many projects, the last 10% is where 90% of time, effort, and skill is spent.

You know nothing of the Ai the companies use. Those parts can easily be fixed with ai too. This is the worst thing about this. Forget the stupid braindeads of twitter. In the actual world, HUNDREDS of real illustrators and artists have been laid off(like me) companies in favor of ai. Its being used rn and most people dont even know it. And companies pay for Ai software, that is specifically written for that particular company so they dont commit theft. There is no point in being a commercial artist anymore😔

    • @sarasoryu
      @sarasoryu 6 месяцев назад +2

Nope. You can fix these mistakes easily with specifically written ai software. You need phyton coding skills but most companies pay to have a software made for them. It’s cheaper to pay for Software to generate art than to pay an in-house artist. Sincerely, one of hundreds of artists in europe being laid off

As someone that can't go to in person events the only way I can enjoy art is through the internet. Now I have to deal with wannabe artists stealing hard earned work from others to look good and sometimes for money. Honestly this is just disgusting. I see no nonviolent way of stopping ai so I guess it is just here to stay. and the newer generation will no longer know true art.
