- After finding some pink gingham fabric in my stash I decided it was finally time to use my Barbie pattern to make the Barbie dress.

Dress is adorable! Just use a tinyvpiece of velco instead of snaps, it works great
Totally agree!
I considered velcro, but don't want the Barbie's hair to get caught in it.
That’s awesome Whitney! That you pay a little tribute to your grandmother by using the pattern she used. It gives a little nod to her and your mom. 👍👍good for you. Good mommas run in the family 😊
So cute! Vintage machines are great for doll clothes. I find the smaller foot and feed dog means it's easier to work with. Less fabric getting eaten
A friend of mine passed away over a year ago, and I got a bunch of her old sewing patterns. I know there were some Barbie patterns in there. Nice outfit. Now I need to take a look at the old patterns
I would probably skip the tiny little snaps in favor of velcro which is so much easier for kids to use than those snaps! Cute pattern! I went to the Barbie movie it's more for the old kids 😊
Hi Whitney, her dress looks super cute and I love real life stuff it lets you know you’re not alone
When I was little I had a toy sewing machine that actually worked. I made my own Barbie clothes with scraps from a neighbor who sewed. This brings back memories ♥️ I think having tiny fingers helped!
That is awesome!
I have made Barbie clothes and the matching outfit for the little girl as birthday/holiday gifts. So so cute.
Aww so cute. I use to make Barbie clothes for my daughter too.
Hi whitney you did amazing I love this dress so cute and adorable
Great job Whitney. You dress is really cute. I am delighted to still have my Barbie outfits. Some were commercially made, I treasure those because we bought them together (my Grandmother and I) it was a huge treat. I know they were expensive.
Secondly, her Mother, my Great grand Mother hand made Barbie clothes without a pattern and hand stitched everything. She also make quilts with scarps for my doll beds. I am 70 years old and pleased to report they are not frayed or tattered.
Thanks for sharing! Hoping to start seeing soon. I love the old vintage hand sewn clothing that was made in Japan.
My Mom used to crochet Barbie doll dresses & I highly recommend sewing on snaps, Velcro Snags Everything.
Hi Whitney nice to see you. Love the dress and the girls will love it. Keep posting as I enjoy your channel xx
I’ve been back playing with Barbies, at least sewing wise and posing for pictures. I even have those patterns! Plus a bunch more and I recently made the Barbie dress as best I could. I used teo rectangles to make the dress and I’m having issues with closing up the back however. Your mashing tops and bottoms inspired me. Thanks! I just may solve the back issues.
Hello and thank you for your return on sewing for small dolls. I understand how difficult it is to sew their clothes on a machine. As for the ones I made for my grand daughters I use narrow scratch tape on the back. And of course the steps to sew for small clothes are not in the same order as those for adults. Also for hems I used the narrow hemming presser foot.
Thanks for the tips!
I think you did a great job! I learned a couple things from this video so thanks for doing this project and sharing it.
Love it and your story.
Thank you!
Adorable ❤
😂 I thought you were going to make a Barbie dress for you. Nice surprise and bag lining is the way to go. I don't blame you. Hand sewing isn't hard. Just hard to start.....
So cute!
I have that same pattern.
Adorable dress! I used to try making Barbie clothes for my girls. I just hated sewing on something so tiny! Not a fan of little clothing pieces. Did much better for my grands who played more with American girl dolls. Much easier to work with bigger sizes.
Turned out so so cute. Barbie clothes are she hard to sew, so so small
😅 i love real life, have that here at my house too!!
Nice
Add Velcro instead! Much easier!!
When I first learned to sew over a decade ago, I began by sewing Barbie clothes, of all things. A lot of them didn’t turn out nice😂
I have that same pattern! Maybe I’ll do that same dress for my Grandgirl’s Barbies…
Can you please make this dress as a life size dress
Velcro i mean
Could you please tell me how you got the bodice to fit the dress skirt? The pattern does not say gather, and when I pin there is xtra skirt at the edge. Thanks
Are these patterns still available anywhere?
I have some of the original patterns but they are incomplete.
I do not like sewing little Barbie doll clothes. I've only made a few over the years.I have sewn for over 50 years.
