  • This tutorial shows how to make a stylish infinity knot pendant. The stone is a 9 mm Prasiolite (green Amethyst). This is an advanced level project. For materials, I used 16 (1.3 mm) gauge sterling round wire, and 16 gauge (1.3 mm) sterling square wire. As always, I use hard silver sheet solder and My-T-Flux.

    Great design. Might have a go at it for some earrings with some bezel set garnet cabs and twisted wire that I’ll oxidise. Give it a gothy twist.
    Do they tilt at all when hanging. Where the bail meets the top of the 8 looks like it might make them do so?
    BTW insect wise ppl love a Dragonfly!

      @chadssilversmithing  2 месяца назад +1

      Thanks Just Me! I ended up adding a second 16 gauge ring on the back to deal with the depth of the pavilion on this stone, and this elevated the lower part of the piece reducing any tilt. Have you seen this? ruclips.net/video/Xj5T9nH8Qu4/видео.htmlsi=XTpqYgekpzC8x7-n

    It`s a very good construction and very good to make but not good to make if the calotte of the stone is domed to heavy. the calotte is then sticking out. Günther Clemenz

      Thanks Günther! I ended up adding a second ring on the back to deal with the stone’s depth.

    Love love love this pendant. ❤ Do you do anything to prep the solder before you cut it up?

  • @deltajane68
    @deltajane68 День назад

    So, no matter how many points you have to solder, you only use hard solder? Thank you for your videos!

    • @chadssilversmithing
      @chadssilversmithing  День назад

      For the most part:). I occasionally use a bit of easy on things at the end when I’m worried about unintended flow like hinges and spinner rings. Thanks for the nice comment!

    I really like this design and one day soon will start working with silver - right now I’m learning to facet and I’ll need to also something with the stones I cut! Your videos are a foundation block for my learning thank you!!
    I noticed at 20:56 as you were soldering the inner and outer loops together that the left “arm” was heated enough to turn red then it suddenly drooped. Does that happen when silver hits annealing temperature and softens if not supported underneath or is that a sign of overheating?

    • @chadssilversmithing
      @chadssilversmithing  Месяц назад

      I think I let that get a little hotter than I would have preferred. I backed off before anything got too melty. I could have supported it somehow better so it couldn't shift at all:). Generally never want things to get that red if one can help it.

    Stunning! As always! Quick question.. do you think 18g for the round would work with the 16g square? Also, do you always use dead soft or half hard, etc? Appreciate all your talents!

    • @chadssilversmithing
      @chadssilversmithing  2 месяца назад

      Hello Quantum GirlE. 18 would work just fine, but would look a little more delicate. I buy dead soft for everything for the most part:)
