Hi Marty, really love your videos. Looks like most encoders like the one you show here are rated for 6000 rpm. Any thoughts on where to get one that is good for 8000 rpm?
Hi im getting 455 spindle axis (5) encoder quadrature error, im using the second encoder as I've thought that encoder is wrong, it is the same error with the second encoder what I've bought. Encoder still counts turns in count dialog on top of the screen. but this error won't let me control the machine ... I need to unplug it when I wont use a machine ... Did you cam across this problem with your encoder?

@@martyscncgarage5275 No one seems to bother using a separate shaft with it's own bearings (as suggested in Omron's datasheet). I suppose the timing belt is not tight at all, and the side load on the encoder's shaft is negligible?
Your encoder video solved about 2 days of me scratching my head. Thank you so much!!
your teaching me a lot marty. thanks
Glad it is of some help Remie.

That will be tough. Go to the Centroid CNC User Forum and do a search or make a fresh post. It has been discussed before.
Excellent job!!!
Marco, some people are trying it out on their lathes with Centroid Acorn CNC. We'll see if they go the distance.
Thank you!
Hi Jason, I hope you were able to get something out of it.
I noticed you mentioned 2000 encoder becoming 8000 Quad ? how does that work?

And personally, I don't use those encoders, though others have had success with them.
Check your wiring either u have a bad loose wire and /or u have wires connected wrong
Can you show how to actually connect the encoder to the spindle itself.
Not sure what you mean. You mount the encoder to the machine and connect it to the spindle at 1:1 with a pair of timing pulleys and a timing belt
@@martyscncgarage5275 yes. Can you show me a picture of that setup.

@@GenePavlovsky you must use encoders rated for side loading, but you are correct, the belt does not need to be as tight as a motor belt.
