Wall of text warning! Lol. In my opinion this player is not someone who actually earned that ssl tag. I've spent some time to try explain why I believe so. You say that c3 is top 0.5% of players in 1s, but I would like to point out that ssl is 0.08% in 1s, 0.08% in 2s and 0.01% in 3s. The difference is very very high. After a couple minutes on rl tracker, it's pretty obvious this is the account of someone who was legit ssl in season 5, then sold the account (maybe recently, years after he got that title). This player's current best rank at the moment is c3 in 2s. Season 5 started about 2 years and a half ago (mid November 2021). Someone who was ssl less than two years and a half ago, can not be peaking at high champ today. And I do not understand how you could seriously believe that being the case. The game has NOT evolved almost at all in the past 2 years and a half. The gameplay meta has not shifted like it might have been years ago when it's gone from ground consistency to more aerial plays, especially in 1s. It has been still and there are no new comp mechs that are now common for gc and an old season 5 ssl wouldn't know about. That would need to be the case since he can't even reach gc anymore. So by this logic, all the gcs today (even low gc) would have to be better overall than the average ssl of season 5. Absolutely nuts. But even just watching your footage where we see the match. This player was totally incapable of doing anything actually threatening with the ball. Not even once he took his chances and went for something actually hard to save. You were not challenged on defence at all during the whole game. Please rewatch the match, you'll see all of his goals came from mistakes made by you, *not* by any good plays made by him. Which is something uncommon when you verse someone who's peaked over 3 full ranks below the opponent less than 2 years and a half ago. His 1st goal was because of you driving straight on his path, that demo was so predictable, I don't even understand why you were shocked, it's not like you were high enough on the wall for the curve to slow him down from super sonic speeds. 2nd goal was a weak shot (that you've overcommited for) which turned out as a pass for him who just had to walk the ball in the net. 3rd goal was from you missing a touch and him just taking the open net. And even if you actually hit the ball there, I feel like it was a goal scoring opportunity for him either way because he had full boost, you had little and the ball would have gone high onto the wall making for a great pass for him that had enough boost to go up for the read, but that's just speculation, we'll never know. His best attempt at making a shot that clearly outplayed you, was a dribble into a low 50 while having little to no boost, which was quite easily shut down, rightfully so. Also none of your goals were insane outplays with which an average ssl (even of season 5) would get scored on usually. You simply outplayed him several times, both in mechs consistency and also in decision making. You were more consistent than him over the course of this game, and by a decent margin too I would say. Which is great, but imo would not have happened against someone who once peaked ssl, even if it were to be season 15/season 1 of free2play when the ssl rank was introduced. You would at the very least have been challenged for the win. And you clearly were not by this player.
