Had a GT Turbo many moons ago, wicked engines after some aftermarket mods, performance ram air filter, performance exhaust dump valve, eibach performance lowering springs and suspension bushes sorted made that car unbelievable .

Brought a T-Jet 120hp model other week, coming from a 2010 1.6 astra, the turbo noise from mine with an intake and dump/v just makes me smile everytime, luckily mine was looked after and they're amazing, would honestly recommend this car over anything newer at the hp range any day

So many negative comments here, why can't people appreciate other people's cars?
Iv got one with the 1.9 and running 192bhp, easily outrun this and it was cheaper, decent amount of torque too and they surprise quite a few cars on the road.
Iv had two and they've been reliable enough so far, I was sketchy at first but 2 years in and only done a few services, pads and wheel bearing, so wear and tear items.
I agree with some comments about the money spent, anything over 2k for one is too much, there are lovely cars out there that can be a better Base but I think people are forgetting it's hard to get up to 200hp in a car at a young age and BE INSURED, one of, if not the ONLY reason I have one, and the fact it's nice to outrun some more expensive cars cause they don't expect it
Be nice to see Jamie criticise people rides more though

I really like jamie but I feel he doesnt truly review the cars so after owning one for 2 years here are good and bad points to watch out for:
    1. Small turbo, spools quick so plenty of low torque so they are easy to drive
    2. Very very light clutch with no feel for the bite
    3. Complete electric power steering motor is very prone to failure do to overheating and a replacement is around £700 as it is part of the steering column
    4. The aforementioned steering gives no feel for the road at all and no feedback
    5. The car has a massive boot and great for storage
    6. Top speed in mine standard was about 130 and the same after I tuned it as the gearing on the 5 speed is fairly short.
    7. The front lower grille always pops out on the right hand side just like in this review the same happened to mine constantly
    8. The rear brake light electrics fail due to water getting in the very easily
    9. Gearboxes are shit but fine for up to 150bhp like the Mito
    10. Stock speakers in the car are great and they have a usb port in the glovebox for musci which was great for me as a teen!
Hope you found this useful, I have a sound clip of mine on my channel.

We've a Fiat and have had fuck all problems with it. Understand some people not liking them maybe from previous experience but to those who've never drove them or sat in one I can't understand saying things like "their shit", "not reliable" or "fix it again tomorrow" like mate why don't you go own one for a few years and then see how they are. The Fiat Doblo we bought 3 years ago has had zero issues

Me and the wife have owned a 1.9 MJet for 3 years now and it's never let us down. The car is quick, 130bhp but the car is light in weight so it will kill most fiestas, corsas etc..the engines are bulletproof, 160,000 miles plus on ours and it's still going strong. Some of these commenting haven't got a clue..

Why do people have to be so rude and give all this hate. If it was your car and you loved it and people did this to you would you like it? It's bullshit. How about you all grow up. It's a perfectly working car. I know the person myself and he enjoys it too. Yeah fair enough it's a fiat. But it's the only fiat that has actually made me fall in love with one of their cars. If you don't believe shit this car has or does how about you contact me and I'll get you to meet the guy himself if you'd like. Let's see if you can say all this shit to his face as well.

I had one of these (non T-Jet but a 1.4 16v Sporting) and my gearbox blew at around 40,000 miles. The steering racks are prone to failing too, along with a load of many other issues. As much as I loved mine, they really are made of cheese and are cheap for a reason!

  • @supercolourmonster

This is just the turbo from the Fiat Bravo Tjet 150hp with bigger wheels aka the Abarth Tjet turbo. Not a big turbo upgrade. Make this power in mine. The Multiair 1.4s have an even bigger GT1446 which can make 210bhp.
A true big turbo upgrade on this would be slapping a td04 on it where you can make anywhere between 230-300bhp, depending on whether you upgrade cams and injectors

Mate I strongly disagree with you on this ocasion. Clutches and gear boxes getting damaged is the drivers fault in almost all ocasions. If a clutch is not mounted properly, yes it wont last but if it is...you will have ABSOLUTELY no issues at all. I have a 1995 Fiat Punto with 250,000kms and factory gearbox still. Never been open. Gear boxes brake cuz people wanna race and do some crazy shifting and it will be the same with any gearbox in the world.
People have this stereotype about Fiat that in real life does not exist that they are weak, cant handle power etc and it is all a lie.
In any car in the world if you increase the power over 20% you should swap the clutch cuz the factory one may not last long. About the gear box, you will be fine.
The Fiat Punto Sporting mk1 and mk2 come with forged pistons from factory.
Its is just a bit of logic. You increase the compression, you need to upgrade certain components. Just logic. You here many german car owners bullshitting sayin they increased the cars power in X hp with all stock interior etc..lol. massive lie. Well...they can do. Just wont drive 50 miles.
Wanna see choclate gear boxes?? Renaults and VAG's.

Abarth Grande Punto SS makes 180bhp using the same 1.4 t-jet engine in standard spec.
I think the owner is in "pub talk" mode with the forged internals.
VL38 turbo is standard on 500 abarth, VL37 is standard on this car, so it's no big turbo swap!
Sorry but anyone who has driven a fast punto knows that this closer to 120bhp than 191bhp.

    • @TheDerpyGrandma
      @TheDerpyGrandma 4 года назад

I had a blue one of these, a 58 plate. Cracking little car, sounded great. Same engine used in the Abarth 500's now.
What I don't get though, is that the owner spent all that money on the engine and that, but then decided to fit the cheapest, shittest tires to the car?

  • @evangelostsaoulis4721
    @evangelostsaoulis4721 5 лет назад +1

First of all.. VL38 its NOT a big turbo... its like a hairdresser 's hairdryer. It 's the same turbo like t jet abarths (vl 36). There is no need for forged internals at that level of power. T jet engine could easily handle up to 250hp maybe more. Also with this hp the "big turbo" suffers from backpreasure and EGT might be too high. There are examples of abarths and t jets (same engine) with TD04 -13t (this is a "big" turbo) with more than 240hp with stock internals and more usefull from low end to the limiter! You should check them out! Great video tho.

The Renault 5 turbo was running a t4 on a 1.3 8v 120ps and is one of the best drivers cars off all time. 😂

Your nuts! The 1.9 multi-jet is 130bhp standard, at least 180bhp with just a remap. With a t-jet at 120 standard but a 1.4. So the multi-jet with just a remap out powers a t-jet and the abarth which has 165 but without spending all the money for an abarth.

I have a 160hp 2010 bravo myself, much better car that punto . I also had a punto same era, but its ride quallity is much worse in aso is windnoise, but it is 200kg lighter, thats for sure. SO this pundo defenetrly goes good, and yeah tehy are pretty cheap, you get a lot of car for a reasonable price. AS for the FIAT is shit comments, I have my 3rd fiat in 5 years now. What i had to replace on all was and mufler on the 1st one and thats about it in 5 year ownership, oh hyeah, and i readlyined my cars daily. still do that on my bravo, 1,1 bar boos (not much), 7K redline everyday and no issues for 6 months now. Was thinking about a Novitec costumization worth like 4k, but then it would be somewhere in the 240whp range and that would be a good sleeper then, since i like to put 2.0 TDI-s in shame, since nobody expects shit form a Shitty fiat ^^

The Punto tjet hah 120hp from the factory. The gearbox wasn't built to handle big power which is fair enough as it never needed to. If you want a "big power" Punto, buy the abarth. It's a much more sensible base for Tuning with much of the work this has already done.

Competitor to Fiesta ST? Are you mad? These come at 125 max, Fiesta ST with a turbo comes up to around 340bhp. This comes to 190.. You're mad. It's not even as good as a fiesta ecoboost.
