That is a model 751 battery charging plant.made between Jan and Jul 1927 The flywheel is the same as was used on the automatic starting plants, and used a 6 volt electric starting motor that dropped into the flywheel groove to start, and then fell away after starting Yours is designed to be manually started to charge the battery bank when needed. You lifted up on the handle to do that. You are missing the 32 volt coil that would have been in place, and not in the holder as seen.
I love the description. That motor is magnificent. I love stuff like this. The only REALLY neat engine that i own is a 1938 Evinrude twin 2 cycle engine... and thats a boat motor. I gotta say my favorite that you got is that hundred some pound night light you shared with us. Pretty darn awesome.
The coil bracket is a standard automotive bracket,so it looks like it would have had just a standard coil, going by the points aswell,so you shouldn't have much trouble getting it running with the addition of a coil a carb clean+ batt,as to the generating side it looks pretty simple in that you have just a regulator/breaker and fuse, with an ameter, apart from that there doesnt seem to be much else,it much have a low volt genrator for the battery to power the coil/starter and a high volt output
Ket Kettering is responsible for a lot of things I have owned a couple these generators. Kettering was also responsible for a copper cooled 4 cylinder in-line engine that never was put into production. Plus the corvair and of course Delco lighting yes he's light plants were all a little bit different I was looking for a 32 volt twin-cylinder Maytag Delco that was definitely made but you never see any

👍👍
I would like to get it running and functional. Do not intend to paint it or do cosmetic work.
I came here to see what one of these was as I was just reading about my great grand Uncle who was killed by one of these when it exploded, in 1921.
That's a cool generator Mr. Pete! Ever get it functioning?
Kettering is responsible for the woman driver? That's a heavy burden to bear....
+ShysterLawyer No--never got it running, so got rid of it.
