I have a square baler identical to that one purchased it to my uncle's family. My uncle bought it brand new it still works like new. Enjoy watching it work. Just a blast from the past. When I was a kid I helped load many bales of hay.
You must have gotten the one we used when I was a kid! Had same issue with knotting. Worked great when it got dialed in. Grandpa blamed difference in today’s twine as opposed to yesteryears. But he was able to dial it in and run a full service custom hay business with this as the main square bailer. Thousands of bales baled and hauled over the five summers I worked. Just like that young man on the three wheeler. 6 years old raking hay with a Massey 35. By the time I was eleven, I had worked more hours than a high school kid with a part time burger career. Awesome to see this old beast pound some grass!
got a no3 massey with a pony motor so you can pull it with any tractor last time we used it would break shearbolts every time it cycled so we stopped doing hay
I think that old Massey baler did a good job, just needs a little work on the knotter or twine disc, does your son still have it? Sanders has really grown since then, he's catching up with his older brothers in size. Nice one, I wanted to watch the square baler do it's thing, a blast from the past. I hope your family stays warm and safe out there, with the weather that's coming. Have a Merry Christmas!
Girl that hay baler is older than that boy. I'm 70 years old and back when I was a kid my grandpa bought one of those brand-new it didn't tie strings worth a damn back then. In fact that baler was the reason that as soon as they come out with a wire tie my grandpa changed over.
This is horse and hobby farm country, so square bailing is still what we do with the best hay and straw....except we use balers with kickers that throw them up into a caged hay wagon. As you know that is still a lot more work than rolling and moving round bales, but you get at least twice as much $$$ and the buyers come to us.
We dragged a stuker behind the baler and made a 10 bale stuke. Tractor with the right set of forks could lift the whole stuke on to the wagon. Saved a little handling.
I did find that that key that goes through the knotter gear that holds the the knot it has a clip that opens where that piece comes back into the motor it has a gear on top the pain that goes through that gear which shear and it would miss about every 5th Bale and believe it or not even with that pen sheared it would bail
Your oldest and youngest sons both alot what i was like growing up on the farm, fixing things, driving anything with wheels. Your oldest son looks a little like Tom Cruise lol
Just curious. Why don't you use a wagon. We baled a ton of extra every year and usually traveled up to 20 miles to get enough. We stacked on 8x 20 flatbeds. You wouldn't need that big for just on the farm but would be less carrying and bobcat usage.
Oh the fun of a massey no 3. I have one very Similar that i bought as my first square baler. What part of Michigan do you farm in. I'm in montcalm county
Hi how are you all up to and that old baller rope keeps breaking I world get mad I hope your son can figure out why it keeps doing that or could be the hey string who is it old or dry out well have a nice day
Your problem might be took big of windrow they were designed for 7 ft equipment. Next time you cut make a smaller windrow. Whatever you do please shut the baler off before working on the knotters my cousin didn't 5 hours of surgery and he's lucky to have a hand . The arm that pulls the needles up got him. It was hard to watch that bit it's something you don't forget especially as i was the one holding things together on the 20 mile drive to the hospital . Please shut it off and turn it by hand he is blessed with a beautiful family and he doesn't need to go through that.
I feel sorry for that young man I bought the same balers three of them I had to have three in the field to make a to make hay a couple years later I bought a 570 New Holland when do the New Holland Store old them I needed the parts I needed to go to the field they gave me three Shear bolts I needed a new knoter 6 Minute needles exterior Master links for the chains 100 sure bolts new clutch plates I needed to be able to rebuild the bailing and the field the New Holland salesman told me I own the New Holland now and I didn't need any of that stuff
I'm in Georgia I wish I was closer I would sell that young man a good New Holland 570 baler bought it bailed 2015 bales. Back it in the barn back in 2006 has not been moved since I paid nineteen thousand would let that young man have it for 7500
I bought my small square baler for $75 at an auction. It was stored inside all its life and had very little use. You won't find many people to pay much for an old baler no matter how much it was new.
It does my heart good to see family working together!🙏❤️🙏

It was very nice to see dad helping son understand why the little square baler wasn't tying a knot on the baled hay.

Love that classic Massey Ferguson baler! An oldie, but a good machine!
love those old balers. Sanders was having a grand time hauling hay. I love seeing young people with that much ambition.
So good to see a family worker together. God bless you all.
Looks like you guys are having fun!!!
Go Massey Ferguson!
I like the fact that you and your husband let the kids figure out their problems then show them what's what
Great to see Ethan with the old baler
Brings memories of long hours behind a John Deere square bailer back in the day.
Sweet old baler!
7:33 i cant believe that didn't break a shear pin! wow!
That trike vintage love it .
Making a nice solid bale.

You are correct!

My old Oliver baler doesn't like the plastic twine. It never misses if I use sisal twine.
I have that exact model. 👍🏼👍🏼
I'm Mr Vinson also and have a Massey Ferguson just like it.
Great video. Buy a wind break sock for the mike.

There are different knot holder tires 4 grass twine plastic wine or wire the brake pad disc on the on the knotter assembly we will get loose sometimes
Well I think it's neat that a machine can make a knot. The person who sat down and thought about it and made it so.
Your oldest and youngest sons both alot what i was like growing up on the farm, fixing things, driving anything with wheels. Your oldest son looks a little like Tom Cruise lol
Yep, I spent hours stacking on the wagon and in the hay mow.
Love the old baler but think I'd have to have a flat eight bale sledge on behind
What did kevin do years ago on farm without boys ? Those kids are awesome workers.

Those are fine kids all of them
That’s the type of bailer I remember and same old problems with tying the knots - it appears it must have been a common fault!
Oh the fun of a massey no 3. I have one very Similar that i bought as my first square baler. What part of Michigan do you farm in. I'm in montcalm county
Allegan county. Thanks for watching!
Thankyou
that's a pretty neat hay Baylor I all ways wondered how a hay Baylor works
I have a manual on how to adjust the knotter on that Massy. I can send you the pages if you wish
Yep, nice bailer, at home we used the MF15 bailer. This one should be the MF12, from the 60‘s.
😂😂😂 So funny!
Hayrack?

Oh no! Not good. I will be sure to tell him! Thanks!!
Get spray silicone and cover the entire knoter two or three times a day will make a lot better
How old are your two oldest boys?
20 and 18
IF YOU WERE NEAR ME I WOULD BUY SQUARE BAILS FOR MY DEXTERS ,JUST PAID 20.00 FOR 2 BAILS
I cut my 3 and high with a cutting torch Hall of the scrap yard to make sure that no one else would ever on those
can't hear anything to guys stay because of the wind might be a little easier if you were inside the barn out of a out of the wind or had a windbreak

Well, that tall lanky youngin is shy, ain't he?
Kinda like his daddy...
Not shy, just quiet on camera. :)
Job security he,ll still be baling that same small field till the sun goes down with all them knotter missed bales
Too fast for that fossil ist gear 30 ferguson it will bail it.
I'm in Georgia I wish I was closer I would sell that young man a good New Holland 570 baler bought it bailed 2015 bales. Back it in the barn back in 2006 has not been moved since I paid nineteen thousand would let that young man have it for 7500

Rubber Boots?
Man wants told me Maxi Ferguson baler could make a man lose his religion
If I was a neighbor he could use it for free
Buy a parts machine, a new needle costs more than the baler is worth these days.
