I like the fact that dreams are just a multiverse. It makes Tony's little rant about his dream at the beginning of infinity war about how him and Pepper had a kid and it seemed so real so much better because it means out there somewhere that is real and they got a happier ending.

    • @anvos658
      @anvos658 2 года назад +7

Well of course there is a happier ending as statistically speaking (when you remove actor contracts) there should be far more universes where Tony either uses his first snap to make himself or the Ironman suit immune to the backlash or afterwards, the other Avengers realize, oh wait we have a time stone that could be used to restore Tony just like Thanos brought Vision back with it when Wanda destroyed him to destroy the stone he had.

One problem I have with the movie is that more than any other time in the MCU it feels like we skipped a whole film. Because we only ever see Mordo leave Strange at the end of his film and his first villainous act is in its mid-credit scene yet Strange brings up this history of animosity between the two that we've never seen or heard of in the MCU before this point. It legit feels like there was a whole second Dr. Strange movie where Mordo is the villain that we just never got to see and this is the supposed to be the third one because this is literally the first time the guy has been seen or mentioned in the MCU since the first Dr. Strange film.

    • @anthonym9494

Completely agree. I felt so lost in this movie. Like I had to remember events from Loki, WandaVision, Endgame, and Dr Strange 1 to understand what was happening then also get to know a new character. Then Wanda as the villain didn’t make much sense because vision is still alive (kinda)

I'm kinda surprised Vision isn't in this. Besides mentioning him getting killed by Thanos, he's just not there. I know Wanda cares about her kids but she loved Vision as well. Considering the kids are the exact same ones from WandaVision, no Vision in a multiverse movie like this just doesn't seem to make much sense. Like Vision could have been in that other universe Earth-838, just without the mind stone (given they found a way to remove it in there version of Infinity war). It would have been so impactful if both Wanda and Vision of that universe confronted the Scarlet Witch. Its disappointing they didn't even go that route or even provide anything on what happened to that Universe's Vision.
Overall I thought the movie had a lot of cool moments. The Horror scenes were definitely the highlight. Strange was cool as well, and I didn't mind American Chavez.
Also, I thought Loki or Syvlie would have been in this or mentioned, given this is called Multiverse of Madness and they talked about Incursions within the multiverse, we just had a series with a similar premise I think.

Like the reason why we didn't like Suicide Squad was because they created an "artificial villain" that honestly made no sense and was created with so much cringe and inconsistency that made you asked why these "heroes" didn't see it coming:
The movie was really really bad. The writing was awful, with so many plot holes, inconsistencies, cringe moments that just made no sense ... and overall made the movie messy and unsatisfactory.
Like why doesn't Wong ever teleport out of danger, why is this dark book stronger than the Infinity stones if she can travel the multiverse (I think Thanos would have killed to plan a multiverse genocide), how come her dreamwalking powers didn't wane when they went between realms for the book of Ashanti... and so many more WTH moments and plotholes....
Really bad Marvel movie on par with the early Thor movies. Do not watch!!
6/10 movie at best, above average with your overused tropes. The forced love story was just in the way of everything and it made no sense to include his love interest when literally fighting a multidimensional witch.

One thing that I noticed that was interesting is that each Dr Strange used a different color magic. The Strange from the intro used blue and used some Ice Magic. The Sinister Strange(?) used Purple Magic, and of course our OG Strange uses the Orange Magic. I don't remember if the Doctor Strange killed by Black Bolt was even show doing Magic.

I believe its to do with the source of power. Sinister Strange uses purple magic the same as Agatha Harkness because both of their powers stems from the Darkhold. Im not sure why Defender Strange's powers are blue but it could just be because he's using more defensive spells hence his name

I think the film works a little better as the equivalent of a TV movie, finishing the ending to tv series, in this case WandaVision. Not necessarily the ending I’d have gone for, but I still loved the film so I can’t really complain.
The Illuminati scene is entertaining just for how full of themselves most of the members are. I think a lot of fans are gonna hate it though for Reed alone.

I'm going to copy pasta my previous comment, but this movie was bad.
      Jokes never landed.

I still can't fathom why the movie didn't explore wanda's fall into the darkness and starts killing people indiscriminately when her character development is literally against killing people, especially during civil war. I get that the darkhold corrupts the mind and eventually made her do all those things, but I'd like to see why and how she succumbed to it instead of her being a villain right away. Because when my friends watched it, they told me that they can't sympathize with wanda because the movie never got a chance to explain how she went crazy
Edit: i get that she wants the kids, but we know wanda wouldn't go as far as to kill people without having her to reflect on it, which she never did throughout the movie

The other is with Reed Richards, one of the smartest man alive just told Wanda, a current threat, the source of power of Black Bolt which got him killed. Don't get me wrong they would've died regardless but even in battle you don't tell the enemy what you or your allies are capable of that's just a dumb strategy. That was some anime writing men. But I'll put it that Reed doesn't prefer violence and tried his best to do it peacefully by trying to intimidate Wanda enough for her to back off and it backfired quite horribly.

    OK...
As a Doctor Strange expert, allow me to explain some things...
    1. The McGuffin books are canon; both were the tomes of powers copied by primordial entities. The Book of the Vishanti is a book of Light/White Magic, ment for spells and incantations for life and creation. The Book of the Darkhold is the book of Black/Dark Magic, ment for spells and incantations for destruction and chaos.
Typically, the Darkhold resides in the possession of the Sorcerer Supreme...or The Devil. Likewise, the Book of the Vishanti is possessed by the Sorcerer Supreme...or the Court of the Vishanti, who are a (usually) Triumvirate of 3 Primordial Entities of Light...the Great Aggamotto use to be one, until the giant green space caterpillar decided to take a holiday and nope-off to his own Dimension of Space-Time to get High for several millennia...
    ...true story.
    2. Charlise Theron is Vira, Niece of Dormammu, and Doctor Stranges future wife... which is why it looked like the Dark Dimension behind her...because it was!
On that subject, "Love" is actually a powerful element in Spells, Incantations, and Imbuings; but this isn't the "Harry Potter" stuff, this is the reaction of positive energy reinforcing Light/White Magic substantially. Long story short; if you think about good emotions and bad emotions, you can burn yourself out on hate, but you can't burn out on love, or kindness.
    3. The Scarlet Witch and the Temple...
This feels like where the movie Lore failed... so, the Scarlet Witch, Wanda, is foretold, because by pure chance, eventually someone will be born with just the right genetic make-up to be different; in the real world, this could be immune to Radiation, in Comics, its having a brain chemistry mutation synced to Cthon, Primordial God of Chaos...defeated millions of years ago by the Vishanti, but dust of his remains laid upon the Primordial Earth. Moving forward several million years, Wanda was born, and thanks to her mutation, she could "hear the whispers of Cthon" and wielded the power of Chaos Magic.
The temple came about because devil worshippers and Dark magicians who searched for ancient Dark masters, came upon Cthons story, but their can only be 1 who channels its power...hence, the Scarlet Witch legend. Ironically, Cthons influence on Wanda was only ever lessened by 2 people... her brother, and her father.
*Dum Dum DUUUUUMMM!!,* Yeah, Quicksilver and Magneto...
Actually, if I recall correctly, Magneto actually use to disrupt the bio-electric field around Wanda's head to quiet Cthon's influence, but retain her powers... because, y'know, dad's...
    Anyway...
Doctor Strange 2? Yeah, it was awesome to someone like me...
Doctor Strange 3 better have Nightmare!!!
...also, I'm sure by now Mephisto is cracking a sh1t because the Darkhold is gone...

That Strange V Strange fight was one of my favs, though I get why people would say it went on too long. I study EEG, however, and a FREQUENT comparison brought up when discussing oscillations of waves is either fans clapping in a stadium or an orchestra playing in concert; discordant notes in either setting create a jumbled mess of noise, but intentional timing between notes projects much more amplitude or cohesion in the sound to either create structure shaking vibrations (a stadium clapping in unison) or a Beethoven symphony (when an orchestra plays a piece in timed succession). That duel of notes was exactly this and I loved it, especially that final note throwing everything into chaos.

For a movie that deals with the infinite vastness of the multiverse, I can't help but feel it was brimming with missed opportunity. I could clearly follow everything and approved of certain creative decisions, but I ultimately think this movie failed to deliver something truly substantive by the time the credits rolled.

    • @SurataV

Definitely missed opportunities. The movie needed the Loki from the show to have some nice bickering. Why have a show that specifically mentions the breaking down of barrieres between the MV, why have a movie that specifically shows a breaking down of barriers between the MV (Spiderman NWH), and then not mention it again in the following installment that is about the frigging MV?

People just overhyped themselves. If it traversed hundreds of universes in a single movie within 2 hours, there would be no substance and no plot. Each stop was significant to the story. I liked it. Sure, they can always do more, but the entire phase 4 will cover the multiverse so..

We've now had an TV show AND a movie which basically served as therapy sessions for Wanda, with a body count.
This is more or less a copy of Wandavision, theme-wise.
"I lost Vision (which she mentioned ONCE in the movie, not even by name), I'll keep a town hostage until I realize that's not right"
"I lost my (made-up) children, I'll kill A LOT of people until I realize that's not right"
I enjoyed the movie, but I was also kind of disappointed, especially in this aspect. Also, definitely noticed Raimi's style sometimes and didn't actually like it that much, just too noticeable/on the nose.
Also, how could she destroy the Darkhold in EVERY universe?
The Illuminati were kind of cool, but also kind of just too much, for too little. They threw Prof x, Captain Carter and Reed Richards and an alternate Captain Marvel in there, out of nowhere, only to have them act all high and mighty and fucking stupid "nah, Scarlet Witch isn't that dangerous, YOU are. Oh shit, we were wro----" and be killed off 10 minutes later. Seriously, what were Stretchy Guy Reed Richards and Captain Carter gonna do about THE SCARLET WITCH?!
