ABEG TELL THOSE STUPID YORUBA RONU PEOPLE AGAIN. 😂 TWO YORUBA BROTHERS OWNS TWO BUILDINGS IN MY VILLAGE AND THEY MARRIED OUT WOMEN AND LIVING THERE SINCE 2012
God bless you dear. Don’t mind the treacherous dr. Abati. People can be shameless at time. Very bold in telling lies. Old traditional law is that Igbos do not give women landed properties but exclusively reserved for men. On inheritance it’s for the first son to take over his father’s house upon demise whilst the other male children are allocated lands outside the house or compound. But now , so many families have done away with that law and buy houses and lands for daughters and girl children too. Please don’t mind lying abati. Your truth of owing house in Enugu as a Yoruba man has already settled the matter. Thank you very much dear
Vimbei is really warming my heart. First with her constructive analysis, two; with her use of "us", "our" when referring to Nigeria. I love it! She's beginning to become my second favourite on what's trending behind the brasque, honest, bold(sometimes out of board) rugfai.
Thank you so much lady B, Bimbi, for that comment. It's not literally about the "igbos" it's about the Nigerianess. All Nigerians are struggling in their own capacity to survive and make life ok for themselves.
The Lady OJY Okpee is a subtle tribal player. Ojy- “ IGBOS ARE THE JEW OF NIGERIA, YOU KNOW THAT FOR A FACT”- really !! Dr. Abati has his own shortcomings no doubt, I’m sure some Yoruba men own lands and houses in the East/Igbo land but Ojy Playing the Igbo / eastern better card against other tribes. She tuned topics to flavour her narratives. I know people will begin to see her eastern/Igbo tribal warrior game she plays like social media warrior with time. Glad Binbia put her in her place - all tribes have the enterprising spirits. Ojy only focus on narrative of Igbos are better-she does it every time. How do you want the other tribe to feel. She good at setting up tribal conflict. You can’t hide for too long people will see you for what you are.
I couldn't let go, Dr. Abatti's misinformed assertion that Igbos do not sell land to foreigners. The truth is that any person nomatter where you come from can purchase certain lands either. The only land you can not buy, which is what TS Benson was probably referring to, was a family inherited compound that can only be passed down to only the first son of every family. That's what you can not touch, that includes members of the same family.
His point is that there are lands that are passed on to generation and can't be sold to outsiders Mr. Benson obviously wanted to buy land from his in-laws kindred which is not right. He can buy land in Enugu but not lands belonging to a certain kindred. Am very sure in your village there are lands your elders will never sell even if you offer them Nigeria
His point eluded you. His point is that other than what Igbos call the Obi of a deceased person, land is sold by Igbos to whoever can afford it. The Obi is the place a man made his homestead in his village, which is also where he is buried , and in some cases, forefathers are also buried there. This land has overarching social, spiritual, historical, and psychological significance for the Igbo and his lineage. Surely, you can understand why such land is never sold, whether to another Igbo man or to a Yoruba man? So, land may generally belong to the family as you say, and the Igboman who wants to sell land will sell to the highest bidder. You can be sure of that.
Àbati should wash himself of his closet tribalism. Rhetoric like "Igbos came to Lagos and have now become omo oniles in Lagos" is frankly unnecessary and in poor taste and so is channeling the Eleko of Eko's potential to be offended. It's quite subtly inciting and so is the "conquering spirit of the Igbos" assertion. Igbos are not interested in conquering anybody or any land. Lagos was Nigeria's capital and that's why ALL NIGERIANS arrived there and not the liberalism of the Yoruba "race".The TOS Benson story is particularly poor. "He had an Igbo daughter and Igbo daughter..." So Abati once you marry an Igbo wife, the daughter becomes an Igbo daughter? The story is disingenuous, blatantly unintelligent and sad. "He said something about Igbo people..."? Shame on you Abati. If TOS Benson wanted to buy land in Igbo land, all he had to do was to get a damn agent! Abati did not even ask why TOS Benson would decide to buy land for his daughter and wife in Igbo land? Does it mean TOS didn't see them as part of his family? What a pathetic story. And why does an anecdotal and unsubstantiated story of this type by one man ages ago amount to Abati's generalization of Igbo people? Some people out themselves as prejudiced and jaundiced so embarrassingly. Shame. The TOS Benson story was simply irrelevant to the news headline under conversation. And Abati posits his theories about Igbos only on the basis of TOS' wild divisive story. It is simply poor journalism as Abati hasn't himself tried to purchase land in Igboland and was unable to. It's not the irony of Nigeria, it is the prejudice of Reuben Abati and his ilk.
Take it or leave it Mr. The Liberalism of the Yorubas is what you are enjoying in Lagos and other SW States. Don't keep defending rubbish. You don't sell or give out land. Like I wrote before here, Land is a major factor in development. Beat me to this, I remembered during my 4th year in UNN. We had a trip to UI and during our tour, one of the lecturers told us UI still owns almost 40000 acres of land of teak production in Osun State, Osun State. My Igbo lecturer told us point blank that several times, UNN approached Nsukka communities to get land for expansion and utmost development but were declined. All to all land is ancestral. Tell me which lands in Africa are not ancestral? Keep on keeping the ancestral land and stop development in your region. I dare you to beat me to this if an Nsukka man can buy land in Abatete.
Very aptly captured, I was miffed by that poorly conceived TOS story from Abati and how how it fit into the discuss beats me. There are many locations in the SE that their land are currently being sold by real estate companies in Lagos, yet people like Abati choose to ignore it and peddle their unfounded falsehood on global tv.
Yorubas have proven times and over that they're messed up in the head. Thousands of real estate agents are in Igbo land selling lands front and back but they pretend not to know.

Dr Abati was on fire today and excellently filled in for the fiery, often mistaken as combative, perspectives and reactions of Rufai Oseni to national and global issues tabled for discussion on "What's Trending" by the quintessential anchor, Ojinika "Ojy" Okpe (with stories trending around the world). Well done, guys, for your insightful and lighthearted contributions as always. 🎉🥂🎈💯🤗.
How could Abati use an isolated case of T.O Benson to carpet the Igbos and portray them as people who are a problem to Nigeria's unity. How many of such cases did he confirm before coming on the TV to announce his so-called 'aside' He made this statement in obvious bad fate.

There had been lots of bad news last week coming from the east (Igbo land), death of that senator, mass shooting that led to the death of some people. This was more of a good breath of fresh air when the Senate president was saying good things about the Igbos. So she was happy to showcase the good side of her culture. All her colleagues should have spoken about the good things they also know, and if anyone felt threatened then they should have also stated the good things about their own culture/tribe. Painting one tribe badly so your tribe will look good, is low standard and secondary generalising a tribe to an individual incident caused the debate I guess.
@@sampidiayou have a good point. And sincerely you are innocent in your line of thought but it’s not the first time Ojy does this thing. If you follow arise new what’s trending. She play that game of Igbo tribe are better than any other tribe , that is so disrespectful to her profession and incorrect reflection of Nigerian tribes. If it is in the civilized society, by now, the note from Bamidele would have been unveiled. Bamidele’s note is not in same accord with Akpabio’s thought flow considering the body language of the note giver. From Remi Tinubu down the line of top Yoruba APC members, they are uncomfortable with Igbos. Period!
Dr. Abati the comment that Igbos don’t sell lands to outsiders is a statement suffering from the sickness of generalization. People from other tribes and persuasions have been buying lands in Igbo land.
Dr Abati is just repeating the Yoruba rhetoric which they use as excuses. But if that is true, do they also invest in other parts of Nigeria? If the man was denied the opportunity to buy a land by his in-law, does that mean Igbos don’t sale land to non Igbos? I know many non Igbos who buy and built houses in Igbo land. I know one Edo man who owns one of the best schools in Enugu.
That Abati, a reasonably educated man, can peddle this myth about Igbo not selling land to foreigners is quite disappointing but not really surprising.
How can an elective position be transferred to the widow. I don't understand. What kind of precedence is this. Has the NASS now become an inheritance to be passed on?
Vimbai, you couldn't have said it any better. It's disheartening how we emphasize what differentiates us in disregards to the humongous similarities we have. People are quick to pedal ethnicity when they do not add any value. A person's ethnic background is so irrelevant in comparison to the value they uphold as a person.
Of course his perspective is trash..using one example to judge an entire tribe is awesome perspective..that’s why journalism in Nigeria is a joke..do you know what journalists do in America where I am, they do documentaries they go to Igbo land and check and confirm the story..if you come to buy community land without clear plan of what you will do, they will just hand it to you..what a joke

It's quite unfortunate that Dr Reuben Abatti would go on the national television to spread the misinformation that Igbos don't sell lands in the South East. Yes, some communities do want to preserve the core areas of their ancestral land for the natives who are unable to compete with land speculators. Outside of those restricted areas, no one wants to know where the buyer is coming from. Please do a bit of due diligence before broadcasting false information.
It is not constitutional that if one dies his family or wife will take his work position. His wife should or children take over his company not his senate position. Corruption must stop. He is gone let another take his place.
Teaching kids the way they taught us that criminals were heroes. As a governor I will fire even adult sycophants' not to think of dragging children into it. That brain washing must stop.
I returned to listen to this again, and I have a question: why are we so quick to criticize Dr. Abati for his comments? He mentioned that TOS Benson was the one being quoted, which offers another perspective. Dr. Abati also spoke highly of the Igbo community, and as someone who has traveled extensively, I can personally attest to the wonderful Igbo people I met in Okinawa, Japan. Let's try not to focus solely on the negatives and be more open-minded in our listening.
Ojinika Okpe has proved she is far more informed & mature & educated than Reuben Abati, Umunna Land is like Sultan of Sokoto inherited land, tell Reuben Abati that you don't sell such land, There are many other lands available for Reuben Abati to buy, but he won't be courageous enough to bring out money to buy land outside Yoruba Land
Whoever said igbos don’t sale lands to others isn’t telling the truth, Mr Abati sometimes is a problem of Nigeria, Yorubas takes igbos money in exchange to their lands, tell me how they accommodated anyone in that form,
You don't have any money we want to take,if we do unknown gun men and the rest and give you attitude that will make you not want to stay in yoruba land the yiu will know that all along we have accommodated you in yoruba land
Dr. Abati, you will continue hating Igbo and pretending you are fair. In Igboland, they don't care who buys the land. It is just your money. You are quoting someone who you don't know whether he was saying the truth. The only land Igbos don't sell is family land called " ana/ani/ala Obi," whether you are Igbo or not. Maybe the man wanted to buy it, then they told him not for sale, he turns it to say that Igbos don't sell land to outside just to bring hatred.
@@segunoyeleye6889 Well said. but I feel the conclusion on the matter is the major cause of debate. Generalising a tribe of people because of certain individual case is completely wrong. I felt it would have been better to conclude the matter by advising that those who do that should embrace unity and do business with any tribe.
It's unfortunate that a man refused to offer land to his inlaw for development. He doesn't represent the generality of the Igbos. I met a Yoruba man who built a house in the village of Mbaise. He said as Igbos, come to Lagos and Ibadan and make and go home. He comes to Igbo land and make his own money and go home. He is a Civil Engineer, speaks Igbo fluently and married to an Igbo lady.

You all should stop all this tribal wars. I love my Yorubaness and i lost my host state (igbos)
I can not imagine senator Ndume saying such thing.
Nawa o. Is being senator a family business?
God bless the Catholic Church for rejecting corrupt money from the President of Kenya: will Nigeria Church men and women (all denominations inclusive) step up and act this way?
No never. Nigeria Churches "I will make you fishers of money if you follow me"

Dr Abati, Umu Nna Land is a Family Land ooo....Na Wahala ooo....Even for FREE no takem ooo....Otherwise na the Land go run leave you ooo...
Ojy is great
Dr Abati was on fire today and excellently filled in for the fiery, often mistaken as combative, perspectives and reactions of Rufai Oseni to national and global issues tabled for discussion on "What's Trending" by the quintessential anchor, Ojinika "Ojy" Okpe (with stories trending around the world). Well done, guys, for your insightful and lighthearted contributions as always. 🎉🥂🎈💯🤗.
Yorubas can't be different whether learned or agboro....same parochial mindset against igbos..abati just further echos it
Mbah has led the way with his establishment of SMART schools in Enugu State
Akpabio….a man of the people
How could Abati use an isolated case of T.O Benson to carpet the Igbos and portray them as people who are a problem to Nigeria's unity. How many of such cases did he confirm before coming on the TV to announce his so-called 'aside' He made this statement in obvious bad fate.
Dr Abati is spot on 100%
Pure truth, God bless you sir.
Dr. Abati your contribution is very vital 🙌🙌
Please where is Ayo... Can you guys be 5 in that studio. Wonderful perspectives and incisive analysis.
Glad Bimbia put her in her place - all tribes have the enterprising spirits. Ojy only focus on narrative of Igbos are better-she does it every time. How do you want the other tribe to feel. She good at setting up tribal conflict. You can’t hide for too long people will see you for what you are.
How do you want other tribes to feel when you continue bringing topics to ignite division- Igbo tribes are better than other tribes -she always infer this

WHO ELSE NOTICED HOW BAMIDELE WAS UNCOMFORTABLE WITH WHAT AKPABIO WAS SAYING ABOUT THE IGBOS 😂🤣🤣

Bedroom romanticism 😂.
Dr Abati loves this section
Dr Abati is just repeating the Yoruba rhetoric which they use as excuses. But if that is true, do they also invest in other parts of Nigeria? If the man was denied the opportunity to buy a land by his in-law, does that mean Igbos don’t sale land to non Igbos? I know many non Igbos who buy and built houses in Igbo land. I know one Edo man who owns one of the best schools in Enugu.
First to watch and comment lol. Am a fan
That Abati, a reasonably educated man, can peddle this myth about Igbo not selling land to foreigners is quite disappointing but not really surprising.
Is it today that you know that Abati made himself enemy of the ndị Igbo?
Abati has always shown his ass to be anti Igbo. The only decent and honest male anchor in this table is Rufai Oseni and he speaks without filter.
Dr Abati it is called the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
Igbo people sell land to foreigners but some areas are not allowed to be sold to foreigners. ❤
This is now a family thing with Sen Andi Unbah..
Nigeria National family cake.
Don't dwell on that. It was a comment by Abdul Ningi. No be her senatorial zone she go contest? Let her contest nah

Dr Abati na GOAT😂😂😂😂
I love his perspective so much
The real 🐐
Of course his perspective is trash..using one example to judge an entire tribe is awesome perspective..that’s why journalism in Nigeria is a joke..do you know what journalists do in America where I am, they do documentaries they go to Igbo land and check and confirm the story..if you come to buy community land without clear plan of what you will do, they will just hand it to you..what a joke

So nigeran senate is a family thing now. Naija o
Where is Ayo ooooo
It is not constitutional that if one dies his family or wife will take his work position. His wife should or children take over his company not his senate position. Corruption must stop. He is gone let another take his place.

Kindly listen to his conclusion after the end of the quote. I guess that is the reason for the debate
Ojinika Okpe has proved she is far more informed & mature & educated than Reuben Abati,
Umunna Land is like Sultan of Sokoto inherited land, tell Reuben Abati that you don't sell such land,
There are many other lands available for Reuben Abati to buy, but he won't be courageous enough to bring out money to buy land outside Yoruba Land
Whoever said igbos don’t sale lands to others isn’t telling the truth, Mr Abati sometimes is a problem of Nigeria, Yorubas takes igbos money in exchange to their lands, tell me how they accommodated anyone in that form,
Please Igbos are not liberal and accommodative. That is fact.
You don't have any money we want to take,if we do unknown gun men and the rest and give you attitude that will make you not want to stay in yoruba land the yiu will know that all along we have accommodated you in yoruba land
Dangers of a single story. Generalization at its best
Abati please leave vimbai alone stop reminder her of her Zimbabwean root she is married to a Nigerian now so she is partly Nigerian now
Thank you....
I have said the same thing before, and I hope they will heed the message
Well said, Dr. Abati. The Igbos do NOT accommodate Yorubas, buying a plot of land in their own part of the country .
Dr. Abatti has told a big lie regarding buying of lands in Igboland.😅😅😅
He said "Umunna land" and it is true. This may not be appplicable to other types of land, e.g. commercial land, government housing estates etc
You're the one who's lying about burying land 😅😅
Can you sell Ogun shrine land to me. I want to buy the land.
@@marywilliams-et9hz Sorry, it was actually a typo...lol
@@segunoyeleye6889 Well said. but I feel the conclusion on the matter is the major cause of debate. Generalising a tribe of people because of certain individual case is completely wrong. I felt it would have been better to conclude the matter by advising that those who do that should embrace unity and do business with any tribe.
Upstand... Greet, Dr Abati the floor is yours 😅
I am an Igbo man and till today I can not buy my Nnmuna Land.
Flavour don collect ooo
Dr. Abatti i have 100 plots of land waiting to be sold. Please come with gour money and buy all. While coming, bring some Nupe, Igala, Efik and hausa friends of yours to buy more. We have acres for refinery too if you want to build one

Mr Abattis you should say what you know about and stop misfoming Nigeria that the Igbos don't sale Land to strangers.
It is true. An Ibo man said even an Ibo man can't get a job in another Ibo state. Your comments can't change the fact except the government do something about it. It is actually bad and when it comes to job matter, it is not only Ibo state, so don't be offended.
