Great color. Nice tutorial. If you are photographing a dark color, try a darker background to help with over exposure issues. The higher the contrast between background and foreground the more issues you are likely to have.

Definitely a mahogany for me. I'd also love to see further options for overdying saturated colours - navy blue, dark grey or dialling back a very strong purple.

I think that picking a heathered yarn for a super dark color may be key to getting a little more visible shift, but it could be fun to do heathered vs solid of similar colors.
You mentioned that the wool was dyed brown rather than being a natural color from a brown sheep, and that the pre-existing dye might limit how much new dye the yarn might take up. That set me wondering what results you might get from dyeing a similar color of naturally brown wool. (I have a skein of dyed yak from one of your Chanukah series, and its muted tones are just stunning.)
Some of this is a hypothesis, as I'm not sure how white wool vs dark brown wool is different. But certainly the way the dyes interact may be similar. But often in humans different color hairs can have different textures.... so I don't know.
for decades I hennaed my hair with hennaluscent burgundy mixed with some bark brown ... it was exotic and I loved it! But going greyer and greyer doesnt work for henna. so I had to stop using it. I haven't thought of that for years so seeing this very nostalgic for my more glamorous days.. This surprised me and I love how it turned out, a luxurious deep color. on my screen a bit magenta-ish. BTW for 3 years my hair is highlights and lowlights of lavenders ... color is so fun! thanx so much, great experimenting keeps us carefree!
This video gives me an idea! I'd love to see your interpretation of it: take the same yarn base but hanks of different colors and overdying them to create a set for a single project. Often, I have several colors in a yarn base but don't want boring stripes in my project. Dip dye? Squiggles of colors? Sprinkles? What would tie the base colors together to make a set? 😁
Scribbles could help a lot to tie things together. It can be subtle but still allow the original colors to show though. but depends on how saturated they are
What would happen if you dyed it with bright red, neon orange or a strong yellow? Probably blues or greens would be yucky. Thank you. I love browns that have red or golden tones.😊
Blues and greens could still look lovely - as the color is a more neutral brown to start. Yellow may be hard to see, but sometimes yellows surprise me!
Hello greetings I have Brown Manx Loaghtan spun here, but so far I haven't knitted it because I don't like the color so much and I've been wondering all the time if I could overdye it. But you know how it is with homespun wool. I certainly didn't want to risk it. But now I know what I can do and thank you very much!
I overdyed a super dark brown natural wool color with food coloring once. I also have some videos on the channel overdyeing my own handspun. It can be hard to commit to doing it, so you could try dyeing just a few inches to see if you like the results and how the yarn blooms. Ultimately, if you're not going to use it as is, but you might if you transform it... then you should transform it.

I'd love to add some lavender to my hair! I just see how quickly my SIL's blues and purples fade out and know I wouldn't deal with it well.
