    This video is misleading, and creates a false impression that Alonso was gifted a win.
    In clear traffic, Alonso pulled away from Hamilton all race long. He built an 8 second lead in the first stint, and after some traffic pitted 4.2 seconds ahead. Hamilton got nowhere near jumping Alonso, even if he stayed out for another lap or two. Alonso then built an 11 second lead before the second stops. That was not team orders - that was Alonso outpacing Hamilton.
    In the closing stages, Mclaren THEN told both drivers to nurse their cars, since it was a pointless chase and there was no chance of Hamilton passing on this circuit anyway. Hamilton sulked about it after the race to the press, and since team orders were illegal, it was investigated. But it had no effect on the result.

    Alonso was fastest all weekend. And faster in the race. Played with Hamilton for a few laps and then did the fastest lap to put more than 4 seconds between them at the chequered flag. In between McLaren brought Lewis to pit for an 'unplanned' undercut to steal the victory from Alonso and even with the advantage Hamilton could not be faster than Fernando. Not saying this happened all the races of the season, but it is what happened in Monaco. Weird to see this kind of fake speech in an official F1 video channel...
    Fernando fastest in 2 out of 3 practice sessions, strong pole position in qualifying, fastest lap of the race and victory. But Hamilton was wondering what might have been??? He was wondering how to cheat Alonso in qualifying later in Hungary with Ron Brugal on his side. But Alonso is no fool and there began McLaren real problems.

    • @MT-pv2rf
      @MT-pv2rf 5 лет назад +16

      What? Hamilton was faster than Alonso in qualifying despite being on a heavier fuel load. He was up on the delta time before being held up by Mark Webber at the hairpin and clearly would have taken pole if he wasn't compromised.
      The fact that Hamilton was so much heavier than Alonso was the main reason that he wasn't too upset about not getting pole because he knew that in the race he'd be able to utilize his one stop strategy to win the race but then Ron Dennis literally sabotaged Hamilton's pre arranged strategy by switching him to a 2 stopper mid race just so Alonso could win. That's why Hamilton made incendiary comments after the race about being a #2 driver and why the FIA investigated McLaren for using team orders in the era when team orders were banned. It was actually the second time that season where Dennis admitted favouring Alonso on strategy with the first time being in Australia where he short fueled Hamilton's first pitsop so that Alonso would jump him at the second round of stops after Hamilton had overtaken Alonso at the start of the race.
      Dennis only started giving his drivers equality in Canada after the FIA investigation in Monaco and Hamilton recently revealed that Canada was the first race that season he was given equal fuel to Alonso.
      Oh and in Hungary Dennis defended Alonso's actions in front of the stewards so what the hell are you talking about? Are you seriously trying to claim that Dennis wanted Alonso to get penalised? That's complete bullshit. Dennis was called in front of the stewards with Alonso and defended his actions but the stewards didn't believe them so gave Alonso a 5 place penalty and disqualified McLaren from scoring any constructors points that race. Are you seriously suggesting that Dennis wanted to lose constructors points?
      Its only after all this went down that Alonso lost his fucking mind and tried to blackmail Ron Dennis into giving him complete #1 status again and sabotaging Hamilton's race which led to the whole Spygate affair getting reopened as Dennis went to Max Mosley about the illegal emails containing Ferrari intellectual property that Alonso was threatening him with.

    A reddit comment explains what actually happened, and reveals this video is full of shit.
    “Gap when Alonso pitted: 4.5s
    Hamilton stayed out for 3 laps longer.
    During Hamilton's "overcut" laps, he set fastest lap, but Alonso on heavy fuel and new tyres, was only 0.090s slower.
    After the pit stop cycle, the gap between them was pretty much the same.
    It's true that McLaren did pit Hamilton earlier than planned, but he wasn't fast enough to make it work. In the second stint, the gap grew to 11 seconds.
    And yes, they did tell the pair to hold station, but this is Monaco, what was Hamilton going to do?
    Hamilton probably lost this race weekend in Q3 when he caught traffic on his final run.

      Alonso joined McLaren and had the chance to win world titles, in a car that ultimately ended up being competitive enough in 2007 and 2008, but instead he lost to Hamilton in the same car in 2007, and, despite having a 3 year contract, Alonso ran away from being Hamilton's teammate for 2008, because he's a coward who was afraid of losing again, and then he had to suffer the embarrassment of watching Hamilton become the champion with McLaren in 2008 that Alonso, himself, failed to be.
      Alonso never managed to win a title at any moment while Hamilton and Vettel have been in f1 and his last title was back in 2006, 14 seasons ago.

      Patrick Laarhoven Gifted the victory? I don't think so. This video is quite misleading, at no point was Hamilton "on course" to come out of the pits ahead of Alonso. Alonso pitted on Lap 26 (with a lead of ~4.2 seconds), making Lap 27 his outlap, so his first flying lap was Lap 28. On that lap he set a 1:15.462, while Hamilton set a 1:15.372, less than a tenth faster, and the gap between them was 15.3 seconds. Hamilton needed to find 4-5 seconds in the next 3 laps to emerge ahead of Alonso, which was never going to happen and since Hamilton was actively touching the barriers trying to do so McLaren called him into the pits. The decision to call the fight off was unnecessary sure, but to imply that it cost Hamilton the victory is just not true.

      The only car he drove that was the fastest car whole season. 2005 was the second fastest car and 2006 Renault were only strong at the start of the season.

      Ronaldo is respectable, generous, and hard working. He doesn’t even have a tattoo to make him look cooler because he donors his blood.
      What ticks you off is that you are jealous. Fish.

      RAWLINTRU not saying cr7 isn't hard working or any of that but how is he generous? Yh he donates but his personality is the exact opposite of generous. Claiming to be the goat and being angry when a teammate scores instead of yourself aren't exactly traits of a generous man

    To everyone who doesn't know it, according to Pedro de la Rosa (mclaren's test driver at time) Alonso could have driven 2 seconds faster a lap

    • @rumblefish9
      @rumblefish9 2 года назад +5

      Yeah, Alonso was saving his tyres, engine, fuel. What was worse was that Ron Dennis after the win, told Alonso to his face that Lewis should have won this race. Dennis didn't realize that Alonso was saving his tyres, etc.

  • @otherworldly50
    @otherworldly50 2 года назад +19

    For the last 20 laps, Alonso was just saving the car's resource, he could go faster, but he believed that the fight with his partner was already over, and Hamilton continued to fight with him.

    Alonso had the race under control, but McLaren had brakes proble,s during the whole weekend, so he was making sure to take the car to the end. In the meanwhile Lewis was pushing, trying to prove something... senseless.
    In the end of the races Ron Dennis told Alonso they needed to hold Lewis for him to win. There the realtion Alonso Mclaren ended.
