I'm pretty sure this IS horse abuse. Now before you say horses we're made for this let me explain my reasoning. One, I have no idea what breed of horse these are or if they're mixes of Drafts and something else. So my only thought is that they're not drafts. I can't say for sure but still. Two, if these we're draft horses I'd still think it was odd. Maybe not abuse but just odd. Three, I'm 99.9% sure that they're also scaring the horses, which could cause the horses to have some type of PTSD after if this IS what they only use these horses for. Four, (this is my own opinion, and just from what I've seen around MY AREA) this is most likely Amish right? From my area, Amish people overwork and treat their horses horrible. Now, this is only around my area so I have no idea what it's like for others. Please inform me if it's just my area. Five, as strong as horses are... This is just quite abnormal don't you think? I mean, just because it's a tradition or something it's not ALWAYS correct to do so. Six, 50 people correct? 2 horses right? Now assuming all of them are among average weight with some muscle. That's almost like me (I am 13-16 and 110-115 LBS) getting on a pony (not an Assie pony cuz I'm pretty sure I could) and saying I'm not too big I dont really care that they're not ON the horse it's still a little (or a lot) over the weight (if it's is a riding horse breed) of what a horse should pull. Please inform me if I am wrong on some things Im new (kinda) it the equine world! And feel free to share your opinion I'm happy to hear them. Also if you are/were Amish do tell me how you care for your horses because just down my way they treat them like shit. But maybe not everywhere. Wow. I've never read so much text with so less knowledge. 1. Any horse can pull, if trained. Even riding horses are pretty good at it. They can better pull than carry. Hence, a lot of young horses are driven before ridden. 2. As intelligent herd animals, horses are naturaly cooperative animals. If trained and treated correctly, they will do ANTHING for their humans. 3. You don't need to scare a horse to do that. Like said, if you train and treat a horse correctly, they know their job and will do anything. 4. As far as I know, there are also a lot of Amish that are realy good horsepeople. 5. Horses are EXTREMLY strong. You just can't imagine how strong they are. You just often forget, because they also are very docile and cooperative (again: if trained and treated correctly) 6. A well trained horse can pull more than its own weigth. Over a short period time even three times its own weight. An average draft horse weights between 700 and 1000 kilos.
