such a great video! we actually didn't love the andaz, but only bc it was hard to live up to PH kyoto and conrad osaka. plus we weren't glob so didn't have breakfast. but your video makes me realize i forgot to check out many of the on-site amenities. also didn't love the area like you mentioned so next time we're staying at HC ginza before going to niseko =) ...although im contemplating trying conrad tokyo too lol forever indecisive -_-
Woahhh very nice wow!! I loved that room + views, but that rooftop bar INSANE! 🍵 Oh didn’t know about the complimentary non-alcoholic drinks + time traveling robot cat/tiger 😂😂😂 I loved this Mandy, as I’m going to really try to explore the full luxury side of Hyatt this year, I can’t wait to see some properties like this!
Watching sebbys intro and all of sudden from watching credit card content we find ourselves with Mandy! Great vid I didn’t know they had andaz in Tokyo
🍵 Definitely my favorite Hyatt Property in Tokyo (albeit never stayed at the Park Hyatt and can't wait to see what it looks like after the 2024 renovation)
Mandy, as much as I love watching Sebby's video, I am so glad you are making more videos! Keep it up and can't wait to watch more from your channel! Cheers from the PNW! Jackie
🍵I use my points almost exclusively for flights and havent yet bothered with getting a hotel card, let alone transferring to Hyatt. 30k seems to be a pretty good redemption for the room (and amenities) if you happen to have status. That said, I'm not sure I'd bother staying in Ginza since, to your point, its kinda far from everything else, especially if its your first time. I typically stay around Kashiwa - Its a nice commercial area with lots of restaurants, malls, and a sizable Don Qui. Its also a more affordable area (Ginza is pretty boogee) and there are a few nice places to stay at around there. Thanks to you and to Sebby for the video. Looking forward to the next one!
If JAL 9 didn't catch the dreaded 24-hour engine repair delay, I might have been able to meet you guys. I'll be staying at Andaz hopefully when I land a day later than expected. Nice to get some real-time video of what the room and property look like. Looks nice.
Wonderful video of the Andaz! You and Sebby must have an awesome camera set up. Love the lighting and editing! Hawaii has a Don Quijote. It’s very popular and busy. 🤙
Fantastic video. I am actually staying there with my kids in summer - we snagged a couple of guest of honor awards and applied them after seeing the breakfast spread. And, it looks like we will have to find the train station :(
Visiting Tokyo for the first time at the end of the year! Property looks amazing, but I’m thinking of staying in Ginza to be closer to things. Thoughts?
Have you stayed at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo? Deciding between GH and this Andaz for our family’s first visit to Japan (specifically the last 2 days of our trip).
Awesome video and tour of the Andaz! Stayed at the Conrad Tokyo and Hyatt Centric before and definitely was convenient in terms of location. Did you and Sebby get to explore the new Hotel Toranomon Hills that was briefly mentioned in the video? It’s also under the Hyatt umbrella and seems to be in the Station Tower? Would it cut down the walk time to the station?
Took a peek inside some of the restaurants in the hotel that looked nice. Didn't explore the lobby or rooms. On the list of potential hotels to try next time! Yes, the hotel is a few escalators away from the station.
That's a really lovely standard room. Beautiful. Good lighting is essential. I've been to some hotels that could have been so much more comfortable if they sorted the lighting out, not just for atmosphere but for reading in the evening. I loved the 'switchboard' of lighting switches you showed here-- and that huge TV and work desk. Here in England so many hotels are either plonking bathtubs in the main bedroom (?!), somehow thinking this is chic or luxurious (tip: it isn't, it's horribly impractical) or else doing away with bathtubs entirely and installing plush showers instead. I won't make this a long rant, but I cannot possibly be the only seasoned traveller who LOVES having a long soak after a long day walking around sightseeing? All day in the presence of my travelling companion, it's wonderful to be able to shut myself into a private tranquil room and read a novel with a sheet mask on. ESPECIALLY in the cold winter months. That requirement seems to be increasingly rare or else these hotels in the UK wouldn't insist on removal of bathtubs. Sooooo weird and stingy, no?
My preference is always: (1) nice tubs > (2) nice showers > (3) bad tubs. I agree that a soak after a long day is amazing. I feel like some hotels (i.e., Waldorf Astoria Versailles) has the vanilla short/tiny tubs that almost seem pointless (can't really soak well and is more just a shower with a taller wall).
@@MandyRoams Haha, a "shower with a taller wall" 😹😹👍💯 I'll do you one better: in those insulting, miserly little ersatz bathtubs (like an impressionist painting SUGGESTING a bathtub), I feel like a strawberry sitting in a single compartment of an ice cube tray. I'm picturing myself sitting cross-legged in a giant melting ice cube. 😆 Thanks for being a kindred spirit and understanding The Bath being a non negotiable feature when travelling in winter.🛀🖖
Looks like a beautiful hotel. I'm not much of a big city guy, but looking forward to a trip to Japan next fall or winter for a couple weeks, mixing city and countryside. It might be a nice first afternoon in town, just to relax somewhere nice, take in the view, and soak up a little Tokyo business vibe. Location doesn't matter since I'm not prioritizing Tokyo in this plan - too many dreams of zipping around on the Shinkansen for 2-3 day samples of a few cities and regional countryside attractions (Mugame-Tsumago trail etc). Therefore, recovering from the inbound flight in a luxurious place might make sense. Or maybe there's a smarter way to plan an itinerary? I may revise my statement "I'm not much of a big city guy" after visiting by adding "unless it's in Japan." A second visit will cost more since I'll spend all my miles and points so I better be careful... but you only live once. I can always try one of those pod hotels next time 😆🍵
(you probably already know this but...) I would look into the JR Pass, especially if you're planning to hop on and off the Shinkansen and explore multiple cities :)
@@MandyRoams thanks! Some people say it's no longer a good deal, others say to just do the math and figure it out. That's clearly the best way. I don't have the luxury of spending a few days working from overseas (regulated industry) so I'm limited to 2 weeks - fast trains will help make the most of it.
Great video! I’ll be visiting Tokyo for the first time in November. Which of the Hyatt properties would you recommend for first timers? I have globalist status
Grand Hyatt or the Hyatt Regency are both great! Really depends on which neighborhood you want to be in. Andaz is a beautiful property, but tough for first time visitors unless you don't mind the extra walking.
hi Mandy, if I book via points and I request an extra bed, can I pay additional points or does Hyatt require cash payment? If I pay via cash for the extra bed, do I pay for resort fees or any surcharge? thanks
🍵 Hi Mandy! Great video! This is Allen from NY 😊. This is very informative because my girlfriend and I plan to go back to Japan in May. We stayed at the Park Hyatt in Shinjuku (before I got Globalist status) last year, and it was amazing (35K points per night). As of now, Park Hyatt is listed as "unavailable" in May, so debating the Andaz as a fall back. My Globalist status expires in 2025, so wanna take advantage of the benefits while I can. Thank you for this review!
@MandyRoams Ah, no wonder why! Thanks for letting me know! Last time you guys came to NY in December, we went to Taipei. Hopefully next time you guys come back to NY, we can meet up again.
🍵 Great video review! Love the use of wood and terrific views of TT. The breakfast looked amazing! Thanks Mandy!
Glad you enjoyed it! :)

🍵 Yes, like these kind of vids. How did u earn Hyatt globalist: stays, spending, or promotion? A video on that would be nice. Thx

Thanks! I was very surprised Don Quijote had a line wrapping around the store to check out at 9pm.
Thanks for the tour! We'll be visiting in October for 4x nights for our honeymoon - looks like it'll be a good time
Have fun!
Great video. Just booked the Ohmi restaurant for later this month when I'm in Japan! Staying at the Hyatt Centric there
Nice!

Excellent video.❤
Thanks for sharing.🍵
Great review. Andaz Toranomo Hills is one of my favorite Tokyo properties. Definitely a hike to the sites like you said. 🍵
Thanks! Agree, one of my favorites as well if we don't have to run around the city.
Visiting Tokyo for the first time at the end of the year! Property looks amazing, but I’m thinking of staying in Ginza to be closer to things. Thoughts?
Makes sense if you want to be in Ginza.
hyatt house tokyo shibuya was our favorite over Tokyo Andaz. We were just there a week ago
Have you stayed at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo? Deciding between GH and this Andaz for our family’s first visit to Japan (specifically the last 2 days of our trip).
Yes! Grand Hyatt Tokyo is in Roppongi, which is more convenient to everything, and the metro is right around the corner.
Ah yes, I was going to book us there but it looks like they don’t have any award rooms available for 3 people 😢

Love the art theme of hotel, thanks Mandy

🍵Thanks for the review! I'm researching where to stay for our first trip to Japan and this was really helpful ❤
We stayed at the exact same hotel in Feb, 2 nights for 60K points.
Excellent!! Enjoyed the video.
Thanks! :)

Thanks for the video! Would you pick this or hotel toranomon hills with two small children?
Probably Hotel Toranomon Hills since it's more convenient :) Right above the station!

I think you need to hop on and off a lot / be moving around a ton. Doesn't make sense for us but yeah, purely a math equation haha

This is a very nice hotel and I never knew Japan had a copy of the Eiffel Tower
It's called Tokyo Tower! The most famous thing in Japan as Mt. Fuji!

It's cash payment for the extra person, subject to the hotel taxes + fees.
There is no resort fees in Japan.

The Park Hyatt is going to be closed for renovations soon, so Andaz is a good alternative option.

Between Andaz and Conrad Tokyo, which one do you like more and why? Assuming having both Globalist and Diamond statuses.
Conrad. More convenient and feels like a more premium product.
hi Mandy, does the $50 breakfast per person is for the Japanese set or the international breakfast buffet?
Both are included since it's a buffet.
