I can remember hearing hybrid for the first time. Brought future music magazine in the 90s. It came with a free CD, skipped thru the tracks untill a piece of music exploded out of my small hifi speakers. The production, composition, mixing and mastering was next level. I always knew truman was too dangerous for the dance scene. Great to hear he is composing and producing for film as well. Wish Truman the best of luck for the future, so many years of hard work has given the world great epic music. Have a listen to 'Won't back down'
This song pushed me and encouraged me to follow a course in order to go through a career change. It was hard and took time, but I did it and got a foot in the field. Couldn't be happier, old and new Hybrid are both great.
A beautiful combination of the Hybrid's old and the new style. My fav on the album along with I Won't Back Down. The chorus is hypnotizing, like sung by a mermaid to encourage sailors during the storm to not give up. I wonder if "Can you here me" in chorus intended to be some kind of an "easter egg" of the song of the same title made 10 years ago.
As i listen to this track it feels like it's counting down to something. I don't quite know what it is but you get the feeling it's something quite grand for the coming. I like this one. it's a catchy ring and beat...
They’re not as popular anymore, quite sad actually. They weren’t on my radar and I literally just found out Chris left 3 years ago. I also had no idea this was a husband/wife duo. Only reason I decided to look them up is I had a dream about Hybrid. Seems like most of their revenue comes from movies and video games now. Not quite sure what to make of this. I mean, is Richard Ford still the main bloke @ Distinctive? Did Chris leave because he felt like the odd man out now that these 2 were together? I had no idea these 2 were even involved let alone married. So many questions 😐
Regardless of whatever has been happening behind closed doors... this album is right up there with their strongest. The music production is utterly incredible
Charlotte and Mike should feel really content with the sounds they're now making. Listeners were never privy to the internal politics of success, control, love etc that were probably responsible for the split with Chris. Hybrid will never be the Hybrid of Wide Angle, Morning Sci fi etc, but their current form is great and I'm sure they will be confident enough to evolve musically with their next album.
I'm a big fan of Hybrid. First seen them at innercity Amsterdam in 1999. I'm just not sure about the singing, seems every song sounds the same since the album dissapear here, Charlotte does not sounds dynamic and often very dull (does not seem to fit the music well). Hybrid needs more powerfull vocals. Music still good, but Chris Healings surely would have brought some additional qualities to the table.
Not feeling it, heavy-handed diva vocals on every track on the album. I'm really missing the epic soaring instrumentals, it sounds kinda generic. Never thought I'd skip a Hybrid album. Missing Chris :(
