    Not squashing our dry flies is a critical endeavor. This one's a beauty. Thanks Again Davie

    Love this style of dry fly ….. relatively easy to tie and because it’s supposed to give an impression rather than be a perfect copy of the insect even if you make a small mistake in tying it’s probably still going to work to fish … I like how it can support a nymph as well great all round style of dry fly 👍👍

    Hi Davie, another amazing fly pattern to try. I watch a lot of your video’s and tie most of them. I’ve never requested anything before but recently have been branching out into learning to tie salmon flies. I found a £2 copy of an old fly pattern reference book online from trout and salmon magazine from 20 years ago. I’d love it if you’d maybe look at/ do a video of the Arndilly Fancy salmon fly?

      I made a half dozen today: at least one looks good enough to show if someone asks. It’s good to have the practice, and a couple I won’t worry about losing to the rocks and trees with my questionable casting! Thanks Davie!

    Hi Davie thanks for putting up these videos. Do you have a contact for Fulling Mill to purchase items online as there isn't a lot of materials in local shops. Cheers Lyndon

      Hi @sandrahaines9669,
      Just go direct to Fulling Mill and order from them if you can't find what you want at your local shop, though it is also worth asking your local shop if they can order the items you want as it's important to support your local shop..Here is a link to the Fulling Mill website.

    And I enjoyed it the third time, too, Davie... thanks again... =]
    I've been meaning to ask a couple of things...
    * This Fulling-Mill hooks... are the sizes true, or do they tend large?
    * I keep thinking a Dynamite Harry with the extended body is larger than the same fly tied in a conventional manner for the same size hook. But when I look closely I start thinking they are not... that the body on the hook is short so then the extension makes a body the normal length for a conventionally tied fly. Would you give me your view of this, please?
    Mike

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  6 месяцев назад

      Hi Mike,
      Most of their standard hooks are close to the true sizes but with the Czech nymph they are a size bigger or so,. If you can look at them before you buy then size them to suit the flies you are tying as I used to write on the back of the packet or box with the size I thought it was....The Greenwells in the video is tyed to the right size I want which is a 14...
      All the very best Davie

    Hiya Davy hope your well. Just a question pal. Just got the new fulling mill catalogue. Will you be doing any dynamite Harry and sale them in fulling mill

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  6 месяцев назад

      Hi Craig,
      Fulling Mill are looking at making a few for their catalogue though it may be in next years now as it does take a while for them to make enough for them and their suppliers..I personally don't tye them for them I give them the samples to copy..

    Hey Davie, beautiful tie! I tie all the flies for my community here in Newfoundland. I got started doing that because the man that tied them before me has gotten too old and cannot see well enough anymore. He then gave me all of his saddles along with his materials so I could supply the town, we are the only two tiers in the area. I am now running out of hackle for renegades which is the main fly for Atlantic salmon here. The majority of renegades I tie are on a size 10 standard dry fly hook, also some size 12. I like the barbs of the brown hackle to be the hook gape of a size 10 hook and the cream to be slightly longer. Would a Herbert Miner bronze grade hackle from whiting be a good choice? Thats pretty much all I can find locally rather then online, I prefer to support locals shops.
    Also please give your good lady my kindest regards! I hope she gets better really soon! Thanks Davie!

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  6 месяцев назад

      Hi @NLFlyFisher,
      The Herbert Minor saddles I have will tye 10s though they do range in sizes, if your local shop stocks whiting get them to contact Whiting as I'm sure they'll help you select the saddles that will suit you especially as you are one of the only tyers willing to tye the flies that are needed for your community...
      Thank you for the kind wishes..
      All the very best Davie
