This “Evil Celestia” isn’t as cool as Daybreaker. I know this animation is old, but I like how that the fanbase thought of an evil Celestia before Daybreaker.

Personally, I vastly prefer this Celestia over Daybreaker because simply put it uses how the sun works to frame her demise. I would have loved it if Nightmare Moon lost most of her power after Celestia was banashed back in the season 1 premiere. Since it would show that they can't be at full capability without each other.
Both Luna and Celestia would want to leave the world in eternal night. Celestia because she has simply become too weak and is slowly losing her mind and her powers , and Luna because she feels unappreciated and unwanted

I believe Hasboro has been watching the fandom for ideas. This was so used during Season 7 finally. Which made it awesome.
Too bad that didn't happen nowadays.... G5 will never be like My Little Pony Friendship is Magic once was, I know it's wrong to compare them but that's the truth. I wish seasons 8 and 9 had been amazing.
I only watched up to season 7, I didn't have many places to watch all seasons but seeing scenes and hearing about seasons 8 and 9 seems boring

@@Joodstudios I finished MLP, and yes season 8 and season 9 were good too. to me, that G5 serie is just a Hasbro money-grabbing machine. (Only the serie, the comic seems to have potential)
The show is very forced, you can even tell how the end of the show will be, they revealed the villain too soon! (I am using translator, some words may be wrong)

@@Joodstudios I don't know where to read the comics, I watch a channel of a girl called Laura, she summarizes the MLP comics (Reading the comic, not just summarizing.) But she's Brazilian and the videos don't have English subtitles, yes I'm from Brazil... And wow, this conversation reminded me that more G5 comics arrived, I'll see her can later. all the haters just need to stop. like right now. this is a fan work, meaning trying to compare it to the official shows quality is just wrong as they dont have the budget like the show writer staff does. they did the best with what they could. and this animation was VERY well done.
the alternate element bearers made sense. and as for the ending part, show me one official MLP episode where the ending wasnt slightky rushed due to time constraints. the creators of this clearly worked hard and the managed to make it the same length as a normal episode as well. the reasoning behind celestias downfall actually made sense, yet unlike nightmare moon she still had a sense if herself within. she probably allowed the speech from dinky to finish because she found a way to stop her from continuing her dark actions.
overall it was a very well made animation, and it made me feel for the characters as well.
for all you haters. go spend over a year working FOR FREE and make your own animation. smh

you understand nobody cares about the animation right? It's the voice acting needs a bit of work. The overall Plot is a mess and it's so confusing and hard to follow.
Honestly speaking, this is great. The animation was done really well, and the concept of the whole story is actually pretty revolutionary... The on,y problem is, the many plotholes cover that fact.
I was confused at first, despite the narrations and animations depicting the story. There are a lot of plotholes that need to be filled.
Also, some elements were mismatched. When did the Element of Loyalty became Honesty, and vice-versa?
And DETERMINATION? I was thinking of a certain game when I heard that word...
a plothole is when a story contradicts itself, not when it leaves something unexplained.

15:55 woah woah woah! Celestia what are you doing?! You can’t just terminate derpy!
For those who are confused about the story, here's what I think happened. This does contain spoilers. Obviously.
There is a prophecy that when the Elements of Harmony vanish, a silver alicorn with a golden mane will appear and guide the ponies to return the Elements to Equestria.
When the charms of the Elements break, Celestia believes that there is no hope. She feels pressured and goes insane. She seals the Mane Six with a magic spell. Luna tries to prevent this, and thus is unfairly imprisoned in the moon. Celestia, in her insanity, decides to make eternal night, so that her sister can still be with her without interfering in her plans.
Derpy Hooves goes to confront Princess Celestia. Celestia's hair turns purely pink, like it was when she was much younger. Ashamed, Celestia teleports to the Canterlot Library.
Meanwhile, Dinky Hooves is staying home with Amythest Star. Dinky is impatient and uses a minor sleeping spell on Amythest, enough to escape to Canterlot.
Derpy Hooves discovers that Time Turner, Lyra Heartstrings, Bon Bon, Vinyl Scratch, and Octavia have followed her to Canterlot. They decide to stop Princess Celestia together.
Derpy arrives at the library first to discover that Dinky is already trying to confront Celestia. Derpy is happy that Dinky is safe and tries to fight Celestia. She fails miserably. Dinky, on the other hoof, puts up a good enough fight to stall Celestia so that Time Turner and friends can enter the library. As they enter, Dinky has a vision of how much Derpy and friends have helped and inspired her. Dinky reminds Celestia that the charms on the Elements of Harmony are only symbolic. It's what's on the inside that counts.
She names Octavia the Element of Kindness, Vinyl the Element of Honesty, Bon Bon the Element of Laughter, Lyra the Element of Generosity, and Time Turner the Element of Loyalty. Dinky is Magic. Derpy is convinced that she has no Element, but Dinky says that Derpy is in fact the forgotten Element of Inspiration. For those of you who don't know, Inspiration was originally going to be Rarity's Element.
So the seven ponies work together and bring Luna back from the moon. Celestia snaps out of her trance. Derpy Hooves, renamed Bright Eyes, becomes an alicorn. The seven ponies stand in for the Mane Six until they return to their rightful places as the Element Bearers.
The End!
Wow, just, wow. After watching this I'm honestly speechless. This was by far one of the best animated films I've seen in my time, and I've seen thousands. Stunning visuals, amazing voice acting, great story, all of it comes together beautifully in this masterpiece, this, breath taking work of art. I still can't believe this is a fan animation! Hasbro should let this animator animate one of its movies! Love this channel's work, absolutely amazing. 20/10, tbh.

Also, lots of the animation is janky like when the perspective changes. Lots of this feels blank too with the lack of sound.

The animation and music is pretty good but the script doesn't make any sense and Celestia is too out of character for this to be plausible. As well the the forced moral tacked on the end, it's good but once again Celestia being forced to be so out of character makes it hollow. As well the audio is jumpy and the lack of it in some places is awkward, the voice acting where it was was ok, but 22 minutes of showing off animation skills that are impressive doesn't save this
Celestia is out of character because she somehow has become "corrupted" so it is out of character. "Forced moral tacked on the end"--well it is difficult to fit a story in a short episode and for what its worth it did show a lot of the info leading up to it. The story reminds me a lot like the movie "Inception" with its fast-paced story. Technical problems happens as no one is an expert. I felt that everyone did an amazing job Voice Acting, though Cougar Macdowell had some difficulty on VAing for Time Turner but I am certain he did his best. The effort the Entire Team put into this is very evident and easy to see. A year and a half in the making, and I guarantee you it was a consistent job. I understand your point of view, but it is important (especially on fan-made projects) to focus on giving information that can help them be better.

they have 22 minutes of time to tell a story, and we get a fast paced rushed story that doesn't make any sense with the plot jumping around and barely connecting with the rest of the story. and that whole throw away line about her being corrupted is cheap, its a video show don't tell. its ok but its just a fandom wish fulllfilment for the background ponies to have head cannon personalities tacked onto them and retcon the whole point of the mane six being the elements of harmony.

Criticism is important, that's why. Although there's some needless hate in the comments, there's also plenty that give the creator their honest thoughts, these are what can help the creator grow. Criticism helps one improve, and it's just as important, if not more, than praise.

To point out an error, or state how much you enjoy the story should be obvious.
I actually liked the writing, there was some suprisingly deep idea behind the story. Also, the animation was amazing, very successfully combining 3D animation with the original MLP one. The only thing I believe could've been done better is the audio.
Music stops too abruptly at some points, many important characters speak too softly (celestia) or not at all. And the sounds of fighting, falling etc. could've been recorded in better quality. The overall impression is very good though. I can only wish the creators of Double Rainboom fan episode used animation like this.
And by the way, it'd be much more impressive if the creators made their own background music instead of just stealing it from the show, but since it fits so well, I'm not complaining.

This still be epic
Overall, pretty decent. The animation was good, except for the jumps between 2/3D. The storyline, just needed a bit more exposition, I know it takes forever to make these animations, but a movie- length one would have been even better. There are a lot of unanswered questions here (what happened to the Mane 6? Why did Derpy go into that room? Why did Celestia do her thing there? Who are the new Elements?) this was far from terrible, but it needed a plot more well thought out. I've written my share of scripts, and the pacing is very hard at first, but that is why I edit it over the course of a few months, after making a list of everything I need to say, then I write a draft and ask a third party about what they still don't get. I hope to see more from your crew here, you have a lot of potential, you guys just need some practice. If you want coherent pointers, feel free to message me on here, I'll try to give you more feedback you can use. Keep it up, and good luck.
Oh, and for you people who hated this, express your opinions, but in ways that give these people tips on how to improve, so their next thing is even better. Saying "I hated this you suck you got elements wrong and I didn't understand jack" isn't helpful unless you tell them how to fix it.
i like this fananimation , even if it has its flaws , it has some new perspectives to watch and it was a very entertaining one . nice work , keep that up , i like that really much ;)

The thing is that the MLP Fandom is wondering if Rainbowdash and Applejack got the wrong elements. Rainbow should have honesty, because she often blurts out whatever is on her mind, even when AJ stays quiet instead of telling the truth. AJ is always loyal to her friends and family. RD shows more honesty than loyalty, and AJ shows more loyalty than honesty. Rainbow was quick to abandon Ponyville's team for the wonderbolts, in "Rainbow Falls".

Hit hard -- I have glasses because of my amblyopia and sometimes elders think it's weird that I started wearing glasses when I was young; that I use electronics too much which wasn't a lie but it made me feel ashamed of myself and regretful. I've gotten over it, though. To be fair I was a dramatic 9 year old.

Reading all these hate comments are so annoying. Minty Root already said she would have taken this video down long ago but her subscribers wanted her to keep it up. When your rushed you make mistakes, this is probably what happened to Minty and that's why she got the elements mixed. If she had a year or more this would have been better...I'm not hating on this video. I'm simply just saying my OPINION. It seems like people are getting more and more stupid. I never knew it was wrong to have an opinion. And I'm not hating the people who commented their opinion. All I'm saying is, there is (I know this is so cliche and what adults say) if you have nothin nice to say, don't say nothing at all. I love this video. One of the fan theories said that RD and AJ had personalities fitting more for the other elements, and it turned out that the colours of the elements matched more this way with Time Turner and Vinyl Scratch.

I find the animation bad, and no, I don't animate. There were too many quiet and awkward moments. The animation would go to 30 fps to 15 fps.

OMG that was awesome. Honestly, besides some minor pacing and animation issues (there could be less transition fades between the scenes and I'd recommend you to play with Flash's tween tool in order to use it properly with puppets for the spinning shots), I see no big problems. The mix of 3D and Flash was *amazingly* well done, and I personally dislike this kind of thing most of the times. I won't say a thing about sound mixing because I don't understand how it works, so I can't give constructive criticism on it.
8/10 for the final video. Not perfect, but it's way better than most things around.
There was a cliffhange at the end, though: did the Mane 6 really die?
The Mane six are alright, they were supposed to return in Project Thundercloud III, but the fan film got cancelled before the release of the second one.

This has taken a YEAR and and half?! Wow...
You're a really great animator! You have serious skills that not many people have! I'd do anything to be this good!
I'm sorry but I really disliked this fan animation.
It lacked needed expositions. For instance, I couldn't tell where Derpy was in the beginning, when she fell into the water, or why she was there.
The story contradicted itself multiple times. For example, Derpy is said to be nearsighted at one point, then she's said to be blind. Those two aren't the same thing. Another example, would be when Derpy agrees to work together and about 2 minutes later says "I'll defeat you by myself."
Some things just didn't make sense, like the platform Derpy gets on and Pinkie being frozen.
The only other thing I can say is... "Why? Why did you make this story the way you did?" It blatantly disagrees with show canon by making background fandom characters the mane6 and Celestia the main antagonist. Luna was in the moon and just comes back as normal Luna at the end. Just why, why was this story made?
+Past Analysis I completely agree, although while I could let go of small thing's like when she drowned at the start, its really the bigger picture and the story itself that I think really let this down.Like, WHY would celestia become corrupt in the first place? Did she just diside one morning, hey I'm just feeling like forgetting all the lessons I've learnt and becoming an evil tyrant today? And all of a sudden for no apparent reason when luna appears she's all fixed?In fact the entire irst half seemed a bit unessisary. For the first about 3 minuets I was thinking, okay so were setting up the character of Derpy for the story, THEN FOR ALMOAST THE WHOLE NEXT HALF WE WERE STILL GOING!And if you ask me that was some really amazing animation that I think would have been much better spent on developing the story and giving reasons for why this is happening and even WHAT is happening?So any way, I did have more to say but I forgot it now? So I really think every one should pay a lot more attention to the story befor animating.

I saw this years ago, but I couldn't watch it then, I lose it. I search for it for a long time. I found Dinky's destiny, that is good, but I wanted to watch this one. After not finding it, I desisted. Today youtube recommended me this, and I am so happy!!!

What did you use to animate?
As a person looking into starting my own animations, I am interested in what brilliant animators like you prefer to use
I used Adobe Flash CC for the character animation, it's what most animators use for pony animation, and it's what the show uses for the animation as well. Traditional digital animators will prefer Toonboom for that, but if you go with the show style, go with Flash.
For the version, I use CC because it's one of the most recent versions (Can't crack CC-2014 yet ...), but Flash 8, released in 2005, does almost the same job. If you go with Flash 8 however you might not be able to open some public assets like puppets and backgrounds.
Outside of the character animation, I use Blender for the 3D backgrounds, but I will switch to Maya soon. Expect to need to do renders at night if you render video with some complexity, or get a desktop to dedicate the renders while you work on another computer.
For the special effects like the shading, the blurs and the particles, I use Adobe After Effects, you can import .swf files directly without any conversion, you can also use Sony Vegas if you have a video file, but I never used it before.
I used Trapcode Particle, a plugin for After Effects, for the snow, it's a bit unstable but it does the job, there is also a snow generator offered in AE, it's more simple but it work great too.
If you want to generate a video file from the animation, you can use Swivel, the software however won't give you the proper color profiles (and it has a splashscreen with an over-the-top intro music), but if you can fix it in editing, then it does the job pretty well. You can also use After Effects, but don't rely on the movieclip effects if they have animation in them as After Effects will only generate the first frame.
I use Adobe Premiere Pro for the editing, but I used iMovie in the first one. The two are pretty good, it's all a matter of preferences or needs.
You don't need high specs to animate, I used a 2011 13" entry level MacBook Pro connected to a 1080p display, the only big thing I got in it is the RAM (16GB) and the storage (120GB SSD and 1TB HDD), but I know some animators using computers from 2007 without too much problems.The only thing however is that Flash CC doesn't work on a 32bit system, so make sure you have a 64bit computer and a 64bit OS, and if you can't, Flash CS6 is doing the job well (I used Flash CS5.5 for the first Project Thundercloud)
You might need a graphic tablet if you don't already have one to do the animatics or design new assets, I got a MTE-450 Bamboo Wacom tablet, it's a very simple one, with a surface around 6" and no touch surface, I borrowed it indefinitely from my father who no longer needed it for his work. If you don't have one or can't get one you can work with paper and a scanner like I used to, and if you don't have a scanner you could even take a cellphone camera with a decent focus.
For the generated video file, try to have at least a 1080p video (1920x1080 in 16:9), or 720p if you can't get 1080 because many people will complain if it's not in HD on RUclips. Go with 24fps if you animate ponies, it's the frame rate the show is in, and many fan animations are as well.

How do you get the animation things and how much are they or do you download it for free off the enter net with an account and how old would you be if you need an account
Angelita Stevenson Adobe gives 30 day trials of their software to test as part of the Creative Cloud, they offer subscription based contracts to use the software, however, the 30 day limit is pretty easy to remove, so if you don't plan to use the software for money, you can download a little file to disable the time limit. Getting an account doesn't require a particular age, just your name, your address and an email, if you worry about your identity you can technically fake it.
I cannot give you directly the instructions on how to crack it, but with just a little research you can find out, the thing is that you must make sure to never make money out of something you made with the software, and if you ever plan to, get the software legally. They offer lower student prices if you can give a proof, but I think the contract doesn't allow for commercial use.
In many countries they have organisms to control pirated software and if a company is caught using them, they can end with huge fines.
Blender and Swivel are free however, and iMovie is now offered without any charge with every new Apple computer.

Nah I think it was a cool plot twist and I'd think that would be sooooo cool in the main series
A few wrongs and mistakes but apart from that it was good, and I sorta knew what was happening from the start. The 7th element, other ponies can have the same elements and use it but since hasbro only have 6 main characters they would use someone else even for a second in the show. Oh and is it gonna be a 3th part? Since a lot of people have made ditzy an alicorn, and the story of this is like cadence where she also just was a pegasus.
The 3rd part has been cancelled before the beginning of the production to work on Dinky's Destiny, an animation project using puppet rigs made from scratch and following more the style of the show. All I can say right now is that it's about Dinky and Luna.

I love every part of it but... 1. Doctor hoove’s voice seemed rushed 2. Element names were right, the symbols didn’t match though. I love this so so SO much and would love to see a part 2!!!!
Not sure if its the animation, or just youtube, but the animation was very choppy in many places. The models and voice acting was awesome, however the flare effects in almost every scene made it irritating to watch, and gave the entire thing an underwater feel. If that was intentional, then good job, but otherwise it was very distracting. I'd give it a 6/10 for production, but a 10/10 for effort. It'd be interesting to see what it was like without all the post-production effects.
Additional thoughts: Pretty sure two guards holding spears will not stop a train. I'm surprised it didnt suck them off their hooves at the speed it was passing. An immature filly stops a princess more than ten times her size. The law of inertia alone calls BS on that. During the confrontation scene where Dinky was giving her speech, the ponies were twitching and jumping all over the place, again, may be youtube, downloading it to watch again and be sure. And finally, the elements of Honesty and Loyalty are reversed. Honesty is Applejack's orange apple, and Loyalty is supposed to be Rainbow Dash's red lightening bolt.
But, y'know, magic. I could be wrong.
